after you’re done checking in and have your room situated, it’s lunch time. a great place to start your paso robles food experience is at thomashillorganics bistro and wine bar. debbie thomas had been in the high-stress advertising world in los angeles and wanted to slow the pace down a bit. debbie had vacationed in paso robles and knew this is where she wanted to retire. in 2003, it all started with a farm that began to produce more fruits and vegetables that a family could eat themselves. they started giving away produce to their friends. eventually, debbie and her business partner started a csa (community supported agriculture) program along with thomashillfarms which had grown to 900 trees and various row crops. with this success and abundance of produce, the organic restaurant route was the next venture. the restaurant has grown with recent expansions of a courtyard patio dining area and wine bar entrance from park street. along with organic produce and locally raised ingredients, they also have unique water glasses made from the bottom half of wine bottles. the top half is used as a votive candlelight disperser on the bar and tables.

we wanted to love it. our group of four has been looking forward to eating at thomashillfor a long time. we went today for brunch and couldn't be more disappointed. the wait staff was good, but that's the only compliment we have.

we ordered quail salad. the tiny quail was tasty, but after those 4 bites were gone, the lettuce was wilted. we ordered two burgers. one was ordered well done and came out medium rare. the cheese combination overpowered all the other flavors. neither one of us finished our burger, even after returning the burger to be recoooked. the pork belly sandwich was okay, but not worth saying, "yum," over.

none of it was worth waiting an hour for. we were told they were short-handed in the kitchen.

restaurant owners, beware! there is a lot of competition in your industry. if a customer is willing to spend 50 dollars on brunch, treat them well. if there's a glitch, give them an incentive to return.

we were inclined to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt for the wait, but to follow it up with mediocre food? we won't be back and will never recommend it.

running a quality restaurant is hard work. no wonder most restaurants don't last long.

yes bad food and bad service still exist in paso.

for over a year and a half i've traveled through paso weekly and have had nothing but amazing food and service until i had dinner at thomashillorganics. we started with an appetizer. our main dish came out 50 min later....yes 50! our fish was split like was asked however the fish was cold, skin soggy, and plate hot. brooke (our waitress who had avoided us for the past 45 min) took back our food and didn't return. we waited 5 min and our fish came out however it looked a little familiar...it was the exact same fish! they didn't even attempt to make it look like a new piece. when asked about it the waitress brooke seemed like there was nothing wrong with this. we sent it back again and then asked to speak to the manager adam. as we were walking back to our car we heard the kitchen staff talking about us and yelling "get the f#%k out". talk about making us feel great. we won't be back to thomashillorganics

no longer affiliated with the organic farm!. as owner and farmer of thomashillfarms, the organic farm that tho originated from and is named after, i need to say that the bistro has not sourced my organic produce for quite some time. the farm is no longer affiliated with the bistro in any way because they have chosen to go in a totally different direction. we here at the farm wish them all the best as they travel down this different road. i hope this clears up some of the confusion that has arisen.

one of our favorites. we live in foodie heaven here in paso robles and thomashillorganics is one of our favorite spots. the food is delicious and interesting and the service is outstanding. the ambiance is relaxed and friendly and the noise level is low so you can actually have a conversation. if the terrace is open, it's delightful.

a lovely mother's day weekend. my daughter attends cal poly slo and we spent a day wine tasting and came to thomashillorganics for dinner and it was fabulous! we all love "farm to table" and they executed it perfectly with lots of flavors. the courtyard was a beautiful setting as well.
