after you’re done checking in and have your room situated, it’s lunch time. agreatplace to start your paso robles food experience is at thomas hill organics bistro and wine bar. debbie thomas had been in the high-stress advertising world in los angeles and wanted to slow the pace down a bit. debbie had vacationed in paso robles and knew this is where she wanted to retire. in 2003, it all started with a farm that began to produce more fruits and vegetables that a family could eat themselves. they started giving away produce to their friends. eventually, debbie and her business partner started a csa (community supported agriculture) program along with thomas hill farms which had grown to 900 trees and various row crops. with this success and abundance of produce, the organic restaurant route was the next venture. the restaurant has grown with recent expansions of a courtyard patio dining area and wine bar entrance from park street. along with organic produce and locally raised ingredients, they also have unique water glasses made from the bottom half of wine bottles. the top half is used as a votive candlelight disperser on the bar and tables.

as alwaysgreatflavor, but i am very disappointed in the portion .. the salad was maybe a measuring cup full... i over paid & left hungry.

always a surprise - always delightful. we are lucky locals who choose to eat here often because the food is consistently delicious and the service is spot on! chef julie creates combinations that i never in a million years would think of and we are have never been disappointed. for a small town, we are blessed with manygreatrestaurants but this my favorite!

follow the signs to the entrance in the alley. then choose the sunny patio or the dining room which looks like a comfortable conversion of an old machine shop with raw brick walls and a giant wooden door. reflax with a glass of wine from the long list of local varietals. the organic farm-to-table menu is filled with delicious sounding hard choices. we selected the smoked duck sandwich complete with a thin sliver of foie gras. the sliced duck breast had a little too much fat for my taste, but it had an excellent flavor. the accompanying salad of mixed baby greens came topped with slices of red plum and lightly macerated sweet cherries- superb. the quinoa salad with the shrimp was fulled with coarsely chopped mint and fresh fruit reminiscent of a slightly sweet taboulleh - creative and refreshing. all in all agreatfind.

exquisite farm to table restaurant. warm & inviting & delicious. loved the sweet potato pizza, seared beef tacos with salsa verde & osso buco with polenta. best dish was prawns with oatmeal in a spicy tomato sauce. so unique & so spectacular. desserts to die for along withgreatwine list, excellent service & lovely ambience. indoor & outdoor seating. don't miss it!
