after you’re done checking in and have your room situated, it’s lunch time. a great place to start your paso roblesfoodexperience is at thomas hill organics bistro and wine bar. debbie thomas had been in the high-stress advertising world in los angeles and wanted to slow the pace down a bit. debbie had vacationed in paso robles and knew this is where she wanted to retire. in 2003, it all started with a farm that began to produce more fruits and vegetables that a family could eat themselves. they started giving away produce to their friends. eventually, debbie and her business partner started a csa (community supported agriculture) program along with thomas hill farms which had grown to 900 trees and various row crops. with this success and abundance of produce, the organic restaurant route was the next venture. the restaurant has grown with recent expansions of a courtyard patio dining area and wine bar entrance from park street. along with organic produce and locally raised ingredients, they also have unique water glasses made from the bottom half of wine bottles. the top half is used as a votive candlelight disperser on the bar and tables.

for over a year and a half i've traveled through paso weekly and have had nothing but amazingfoodand service until i had dinner at thomas hill organics. we started with an appetizer. our main dish came out 50 min later....yes 50! our fish was split like was asked however the fish was cold, skin soggy, and plate hot. brooke (our waitress who had avoided us for the past 45 min) took back ourfoodand didn't return. we waited 5 min and our fish came out however it looked a little familiar...it was the exact same fish! they didn't even attempt to make it look like a new piece. when asked about it the waitress brooke seemed like there was nothing wrong with this. we sent it back again and then asked to speak to the manager adam. as we were walking back to our car we heard the kitchen staff talking about us and yelling "get the f#%k out". talk about making us feel great. we won't be back to thomas hill organics

amazing food, horrible service. hard to rate this one....great menu...food was top notch..loved the summer fruit salad, chicken confit siracha wings...waiter took order and 10 minutes later was told that entrees were not available...ordered burgers...they were good. asked for a wine list to go with burger...waiter stopped after meal and mentioned that he forgot the wine list...the place was not that busy. slow, slow and basically incompetent service...so sad as thefoodonce it arrives is quite good. i am hoping the owner and chef see this review.

always a surprise - always delightful. we are lucky locals who choose to eat here often because thefoodis consistently delicious and the service is spot on! chef julie creates combinations that i never in a million years would think of and we are have never been disappointed. for a small town, we are blessed with many great restaurants but this my favorite!

one of our favorites. we live in foodie heaven here in paso robles and thomas hill organics is one of our favorite spots. thefoodis delicious and interesting and the service is outstanding. the ambiance is relaxed and friendly and the noise level is low so you can actually have a conversation. if the terrace is open, it's delightful.
