the former car showroom boasts a black and white vaulted decor in which to dine. the rooms on the balconies ovelook the main dining room. sunlight is so strong, it overshadows the lights of the medieval looking ring chandeliers. the waiters are dressed in vests to go with the china and silverware. i had chicken soup with a meat sandwich. the mix was intersting. the blend of meat with the cucumber relish is just amazing. the soup was clear and you can see all the ingredients, but what you don't expect is the taste and crunch of the vegetables. the salad nicoise was fresh and light. the apfel strudel for dessert is a must. the apple is tart and blends perfectly with the creme chantilly.

typical french breakfast, not many options for breakfast. the place is amazing, i enjoyed my time. waiters were a bit too busy, but it was ok. would recommend it to a friend, but will not visit again

there's something magical about this place. maybe because it was originally built in 1921 as an exotic car dealership for the wealthy. and then became a barclay's bank in 1927. and then finally the woseley in 2003.
of the 3 times i've been here for brunch, it's always left me a very content feeling. the food and service has always been the upmost quality and the service is impeccable. no complaints in either dept.
i don't even find the prices exorbitant for london standards...just don't do the conversion.
this place is highly recommended if you really want to dine the london way.

ok but overpriced. have been there a few times now and nothing specific to grumble about. food is competent and service is good, but overpriced for the quality and wouldn't ever be our choice of venue

i'm a great admirer of chris corbin and jeremy king and what they did particularly with le caprice and j sheeky were textbook case studies in the london restaurant market. their comeback to the capital probably post the end of a non compete period is anot

magnificent afternoon tea experience right in the heart of london.
the tea room is very spacious and resembles the traditional tea rooms.
even though the price might seem a bit high, at about 30€ per person, the wolseley tea menu is absolutely worth it, as it combines delicious and fresh finger sandwiches, tradicional french pastries and one of the best scones i've ever tried.
however, due to its popularity, i recommend booking before arrival, as it might be too crowded.

summary: traditional european cafe in mayfair that is bound to impress. great for a bit of celebrity spotting. i like to to think i know the london restaurant scene pretty well. i make a conscious effort to try them all – the trendy new restaurants that seems to pop up regularly around town as well as those old london institutions that have been here long before i was. that being said, it still baffles me how i have never been to the wolseley.

at the weekend my brother and i headed to the wolseley in mayfair for breakfast. they're famous for their breakfasts, but you have to book quite far in advance to get a table. we got there for 11am and were seated in the middle of the huge grand restaurant. i went for the fresh orange juice with sweet french toast, and a poached egg on the side, while my brother had the pancakes with berries.  my french toast was absolutely delicious; the toast soaked in maple syrup and berries, and the egg perfectly runny! i love the wolseley's food, but it's very big, very loud, and very busy. it's also quite touristy and the tables are so close together you can hear every detail of the conversation next to you. despite the flaws, i do like it, and i think it's a nice place for a special occasion just for the pure grandeur and delicious food. however the best sweet french toast in london still goes to the providores in my eyes! find me: twitter | email | facebook | bloglovin  | pinterest  | google  |

the wolseley is owned by chris corbin and jeremy king and was famed for being the late michael winner’s favourite restaurant in london. corbin and king also own the delaunay , brasserie zedel and cafe colbert – a selection of restaurants that i simply adore and the same can now be said for the wolseley after my visit for dinner with my parents. the dining room was very grand with gigantic arched ceilings, huge chandeliers and marble pillars. the lack of soft furnishings made for an echoey space with a great atmosphere; it was a really impressive restaurant. we were first seated at a table right by the entrance (oh no not another ivy moment !) but on request we were kindly moved to a much nicer more, central table. phew! the house bread served with salted butter started things off and was delicious; soft white sticks served warm and replenished once devoured. the soufflé suisse (£11.25), that’s cheese soufflé to you and i, was as good, if not better than the one we’d eaten at two michel

although the décor benefits from the vintage-glam theme, on the menu the philosophy seems more dated.
