i love the first impression from the interior with high ceiling, beautiful chandelier, and off course the staff welcoming us while we didn't reserve a table. i tried the welsh rarebit (ok), egg arlington (could be better and fresh), and eclair (perfect). for sure i will be back for an afternoon tea degustation

the wolseley is a beautiful dining space with high ceilings and decor that reminds me a lot of many new york dining halls. it's open late and all day and is hard to beat for a late dinner.

chopped liver (7/10) - the chopped liver here is generously portioned. the presentation of the dish is as bare bones as you'll ever see. some would find fault here, but the liver is tasty and i can understand the whole putting lipstick on a pig argument. it is after all, chopped liver.

matjes herrings with pumpernicekl (6/10) - the herrings are of good quality as is the bread. again a very bare bones starter in all respects, but flavors that i think work quite well.

holstein schnitzel (7/10) - expertly fried schnitzel. the bread crumb and the veal are one throughout your journey of this generously portioned schnitzel. on the side, mustard and anchovies to add salt and spice.

choucroute à l’alsacienne (7/10) absolutely massive portion of various meat products piled onto a pool of sauerkraut. i'd have to say the sausage was my favorite.

if you're after a simple meal, this place does simple well. the staff is attentive and friendly, the food is consistently good and priced at a point where i wouldn't consider it good value, but at the same time not unreasonable by any means.

this is a lovely restaurant set in an old car showroom. i know it doesn't sound too glamorous till you get down there yourself and feel the old victorian magic of london with there out of the world amazing tea and lots to eat. high ceiling with hanging chandelier and black and white tiled floor gave it a very royal feel.
a menu to die for and amazing collection of fine wines and tea. excellent place for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
afternoon tea is jaw dropping and a collective 'oooooh' when they bring out the tower of sandwiches, cakes, scones, cheese cakes, chocolate cake, eclairs and the list goes on .......😍😍😍😍
we had a wonderful afternoon champagne tea and delicious bites.
avocado croustade is a must try here which is unique and really delicious, mashed avocado on a crispy millefeuille-like base. ebb benedict and pancakes were amazing with fresh fruits.
hot chocolate was good too!
the atmosphere was buzzed and the service was exceptional.
a must try place in london to experience the very traditional english afternoon tea which is so royal in experience and taste ❤️.

this is really a nice place, a great space with good ambiance.
in what concerns food and service, i must confess that i would expect more.
it seems a french brasserie, talking about food options, but my lobster and the swiss soufflé were only enough.
may be a new visit make me change my opinion.

a lovely establishment just close to the ritz, full of old world charm, we were greeted by two gentlemen after entering and shown immediately to our table. the menu for breakfast is charming. we had the fish cakes and poached eggs which were really good. the fish cakes were really tasty ! i had the deviled kidneys with crispy bacon oh yes they hit the spot. a little spicy well cooked and just the right amount of sauce. i would highly recommend you to have a breakfast here with some of the finer london folk lol

grand place, great food. the traditional stuff's the best: omelette arnold bennett, eggs benedict with salmon or with fish cake, pancakes & hot chocolate gourmand (you mix the choc, milk & sugar yourself)

it's a grande cafe alright! the dining room just exudes black and white elegance. caught up with a friend over brunch and a basket of pastries, arnold bennett omelette and the wolseley fishcake with egg benedict.

pastries were nice but not impressive. i did like that it was such a nice assortment of baked goods. my favourite was the arnold bennett omelette. it was rich, creamy and comforting with generous chunks of fish and sharp parmesan.

one of the more famous dishes here is the wolseley fishcake which is a breaded smoked haddock fishcake with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. whilst it tasted nice, i thought the fishcake was a little dry.

a beautiful restaurant in a bustling city!

nothing spectacular here.. i guess it is just that the place is really grand and everything looks pretty. the ambiance is really nice.

we had the following:

egg soldiers - 2/5
i requested for soft boiled but it came hard boiled egg white with just the center a bit soft. the bread sticks that came with it werent bad.

mini danish basket - 3/5
the pastries were so - so. not even warmed

eggs benedict - 2.5/5
the hollandaise sauce's mayonaise taste was pretty prevalent. the muffin was hard to slice.

crispy bacon roll with fried egg - 2/5
we thought it was this unique bacon covered roll but turns out it was just a brioche bun with bacon and butter.

the wolseley hot chocolate - 4/5
the only thing i liked about the place.

there are days and there are days…..on this particular day, recently, i was not exactly fizzing with life, in fact i was positively mrs. hot and bothered from barnes. in a big way. sometimes, it’s just the little things that get you, isn’t that true? there’s a small shop in a side street in east sheen which sells unusual bathroom accessories and other interesting bits and pieces, door knobs, number signs, door furniture, that sort of thing, where over years i have spent quite a lot of money in my capacity as property developer and interior designer. three years ago, prior to moving to azerbaijan as an expat, i had somehow managed to accrue a credit note for the not exactly princely sum of £14.99 which had no date limit and, as i believed, came attached with plenty of goodwill towards me as a good customer.  now, back in blighty, i needed to replace one cupboard knob for the grand old price of £4.99. they had it, i bought it and handed over said credit note. oh my word, the bad grace in which this was eventually accepted after several visits to the shop and some heavy negotiation on my part, was quite something. i was very rudely snapped at by the grumpy bulldog like owner and forced to exchange all my credit’s worth at once because, apparently, she could not do business with someone like me. off i trotted with two spare cupboard knobs i didn’t need, thunder in my heart, contemplating the shortsightedness of this business owner and totting up the completely negligible interest that may have accrued over three years, i was that cross! needless to say, next time i’ll take my custom somewhere else!

i had been to the wolseley for lunch, dinner and even breakfast but i had guests in town and decided to take them to high tea as it is a more affordable option in london compared to most hotel afternoon teas priced over £50. the scones were delicious and the pastries were good. it won't blow you away like high tea at claridges but still a lovely experience.

this restaurant is situated near the ritz in mayfair and is as glitzy and busy as its posh companion! it has a large downstairs area and mezzanine sections. the menu is european with a french influence and has a large choice of meat and fish. unfortunately we had some problems with our service and meals not arriving as ordered but the manager dealt with the issues well and discounted the bill accordingly. he then checked back to see if everything was ok. lovely restaurant with good ambience.

looking for a high end 'brasserie' in london? the wolseley is the place to be! in the heart of london, the place is fully booked every night (no need to stop by if haven't called earlier), visited by real old londonners, couples in love, and tourists from the ritz next door. as starters, the scampis are great, when the escargots are divine. the soles we had for main were amazing as well, with 4 portions of fish per person, who said quality or quantity? to make sure we were not able to walk anymore but roll our belly down the road, we ended with the creme brûlée, don't hesitate to share that one, as it is again not a small portion, but so good. and if the nice food wasn't enough, the staff are also really nice, no matter how busy it is, always polite and often funny. even if you are not able to make it for diner, come by for a tea time, the venue alone worth it!
