a totally flawless experience. my family and i discovered the tomcat cafe on a whim. it was one of those mornings we really didn't feel like making anything for breakfast, but we didn't want to go without it, so we were looking things up in the merchandiser. we saw a little menu-like ad in there, and decided to give it a try. when we walked in, i was just blown away by what i saw. the restaurant is small, yes, but it is well decorated with a lot of musical icons displayed in different spots. the music playing in the background was very easy to listen to, and fit the theme of the restaurant perfectly. we were seated at a table very quickly and the waitress was very attentive and friendly, checking up on us regularly. now, onto the good bits: the food. i had ordered the blackbird, and was simply awestruck at not only how it looked, but how much of it i got. and looks do not deceive. thefoodwas just brilliantly and perfectly prepared. this restaurant truly exceeded all expectations and will be recommended to just about everyone. sure the small size might make things slow if they are busy, but really i think it is the wait that makes thefoodeven more delicious.

this maybe the most interesting place to get breakfast i've ever been.
its small and people aren't in a hurry so if you are skip it till you have some time. the wait is usually 30mins or so and thefoodall made from scratch takes a while (so long in fact they give you games to play while you wait like uno)
the menu is huge and it's got crazy options

can someone please help us?. first of all, let me tell you about myself. i am 30 year old female, i love breakfast, i am not a picky eater and i was a waitress in nyc for 5 years. i looked this place up on instagram and was super excited to try it out. i asked co-workers that have been there if they liked it and was surprise that not one seemed to think it was worth visiting. i couldn't understand why, especially with how great thefoodlooked. so i looked it up and read the reviews and saw that there was some hype about it. went with friends last week (40 year old male, 22 year old female, 36 year old female). it was the most uncomfortable experience going into this extremely tiny place and standing there by the door waiting for someone to acknowledge us. waitresses went by and no one said anything to us for 15 minutes. my friends wanted to leave. you are actually standing less than two feet from the nearest table (my friend felt like we were invading their conversation). anyhow the waitress was very nice but it seemed like there was only three working waitresses there and they were overwhelmed. do not expect your waitress to be attentive.too many people in a very small space and not enough staff i guess. thefoodwas good. good portion size. we spent over $90 (without counting the tip) for 4 of us. so was it worth it? i doubt we will be back again but i would tell everyone to try it out for themselves. i now understand why everyone seemed to react so blah when i asked about this place. it's a good start but something has to change as far as customer service. maybe hire an actual host. it's a new idea so everyone is hype but that will soon wear off, and then what? you need not to only attract people to your restaurant but make them want to come back and thefoodalone won't always accomplish that. i can see the owner is working his butt off so i will give thumbs up for that. i do wish him success.

yummy, yummy, yummy. once you go, you will be back. just prepare to wait. weekends are packed, they will put your name on a list and call your cell when your table is ready. thefoodis delicious, the portions are huge. pancakes are (not exaggerating) 15 inches round and you get 2 of them. they don't make singles, personally i'd pay more for a single than to waste the other pancake. fabulous french toast. they only do "to-go" on weekdays so if you have a craving and think that's an option on a weekend, its a no go.

i love this place! thefoodis prepared fresh, and the originality of the menu is refreshing. the team that works here are so friendly, and create a great experience. the one negative is the size of the restaurant. it is cozy, but the morning crowd is regularly lining through the entrance doors. so, as the weather cools it is tough to be a patron. however, thefoodis worth the wait, and this is one of my favorite breakfast spots.

tomcat reply. as the owner, chef, prep cook, dishwasher, host, server, maintenance man, pr director, accountant, etc. of the tomcat cafe, i feel obliged to address recent reviews of my restaurant. my wife posted recently to clarify our hours. allow me to give a little more insight.
i greatly appreciate the multitudes of patrons who express such gracious compliments every day. these words of admiration and approval are gratifying. "rave reviews" are wonderful but they do not wash away the tears of my youngest daughter on a friday morning who knows she will not see her parents until sunday night. or the disappointment of my son when he realizes that i can't come to any of his soccer games because i work 17 hours every saturday.
we love our restaurant. we love what we do. unlike
so many other restaurants we are completely hands-on with every aspect of our restaurant. ourfoodis tirelessly
prepared in a fresh manner daily. our menus are constantly being updated. our specials always involve the freshest seasonal ingredients. these tasks do not perform themselves. i cannot express enough how much we love our restaurant and our loyal patrons. hopefully this post will help to illuminate anyone who has doubted our dedication or level of sacrifice. we will continue to be all that we can. we will continue to be the tomcat cafe.

tomcat hours. thanks for all the rave reviews! in response to our hours, i'm sorry to say they will stand as is. we are hands on owners, we do create every delicious meal that comes out of our kitchen. if we are sick, etc., there is no one else to replace us. also as the parents of 3 small children, their needs will always come first. while we love the restaurant & our customers, our family comes first. we always try to post when we will be closed well in advance in multiple signs throughout the cafe, on facebook, on our answering
machine & by telling our customers in person. i'm sorry for any disappointment this has caused. feel free to let us know of any suggestions you may have in person. we are always at the cafe & we are always available to our customers.

gormet. we have been at your cafe 5 times and it was only open 2 of those times. there is always a reason why they are not open. we love theirfoodand want to eat there, but they are always closing for some reason. its depressing when you take people over and they are closed. the prices are reasonable and breakfast and lunch is fantastic. but please be open.

i have to comment about the post below...we have been going to this cafe since they opened a few years ago. thefoodis amazing and the owner has always been very kind to us. he always stops at the table to say hello to our toddler daughter. i could never imagine him treating someone as described below. i am wondering if the reviewer is thinking of a different place??

worst experience ever!!!!. this was absolutely the worst dining experience i have ever encountered, in my life. we sat for 50 minutes before thefoodarrived, and when they finally brought it, the order was wrong. i asked the waitress to take it back, and that i did not have time to wait for another omlet. my girlfriend began eating her breakfast until a chef walked up and said "sorry (i thought it might be the manager coming to make things right) ill take that" and litterally took her meal out from under her fork. i was sure it was a misunderstanding and said "no this meal is ok." he then told us we could leave and not come back. when i acted surprised and disrespected i was told he would call the police if we did not leave. my girlfriend (in tears) and i left and will never return. i have never been as insulted or humiliated in public as this before. i would urge all of you not to patronize this establishment. its a shame, because the menu looks great, too bad i will never know what thefoodtastes like.
