the three ducks- les trois canards

we had a birthday dinner at the three ducks and everything was magnificent, from the atmosphere (seated outside on the patio area) to the friendly and well-trained staff to the food. the duck salad and duck breasts were amazing. i would definitely recommend thisrestaurantfor a wonderful dining experience!

i loved everything about thisrestaurantfrom the decor to the friendly staff. seated outside next to the water taps was so cooling for a hots summer day in pretoria. i give their food two thumbs up. delightful dining experience experience.

when you walk through the doors of this restaurant, at first it seems like a very ordinary cafe, until you reach the candlelit tables right at the back of the restaurant.
although a bit pricey it is definitely worth the money. our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. we received a complementary dessert for our anniversary.
the service was good and after two bottles of red wine and a three course meals, we left therestaurantwith very satisfied smiles on our face.

i have visited the three ducks on two occasions now, both for breakfast. situated in the waterkloof suburb therestaurantlooks like a little normal plain street cafe from the outside but once you are inside and passed the kitchen, it's a whole different story. there are indoor and outdoor seating. the indoor area boasts a very nice wine cellar. french music plays in the background which gives therestaurantan authentic french flair whilst sipping on some wine and eating. the staff were great, friendly and efficient. a great french style menu with various options and also some superb wines. on both occasions i started with cappuccino and ordered the eggs benedict to eat. the last time however my croissant was a bit over-toasted and chewy but rest of the meal delicious. i would like to return to experience the evening vibe ... and try other dishes.

don't expect french quality. that is just the name.
when arestaurantpoaches their eggs in cups and offer their cappuccinos with "cream or foam?", you know this is not a french restaurant, but a pretentious and sadly pretoria-ish joint, with all the non-flair that pretoria has in such abundance
was very disappointed to have chosen this place as my birthday breakfast with the boss.

we have read reviews about les trois canards for a couple of months now, so was very excited to finally experience it for ourselves!

as some of the previous reviews state, don't be mislead by the reataurant's exterior and streetview - from the outside it looks like a french streetcafé where you can have a quick panini and coffee. but as you walk through the front café, the beautiful background music sets the atmosphere fitting the serene vibe of therestaurantat the back - crisp white tablecloths, shiny wineglasses and the trickle of water from the ducks waterfountain ...feels like you walked into a paris restaurant!

our waiter don greeted us as we entered therestaurantand accompanied us to our table, ready with menu's. he was professional and friendly throughout and served us well.

the food was outstanding! we ordered the lamb shank with rosemary as well as the rack of lamb, both beautifully tender with an amazing subtle rosemary flavour. the brandy and peppersauce steak was perfectly medium as we requested and the sauce creamy and well balanced. the fillet medalions with camembert and cranberry sauce was our dish of the day - tender and soft with ample sauce, well balanced with the camembert cheese.

regretfully we did not have dessert.... will have to return for it!

overall an amazing eating experience and special family quality time - highly recommend this restaurant!

i enjoyed the food, with a decent variety of french cuisine dishes. definitely recommend the chicken balentine. and the service was just as good. definitely a goodrestaurantfor a relaxed evening

i wanted to come here for a while now, and was very glad when i finally got the chance. the menu is great, with classic french dishes with a twist. its modern and there is something for everyone. therestaurantsetting is great and different one gets a real european feel sitting there. the food was really good, full of flavour and the portions are a good size. will definitely be returning.

i love everything french and have been wanting to eat here since the day they opened their doors so when our first wedding anniversary was around the corner - it only seemed right to try it out. our anniversary was on a sunday so we were looking for some place peaceful, intimate with delicious food and that is exactly what we found!
we were blown away by the menu options and could not choose what we wanted to eat. duck towers, mussel pots, camembert rolled in parma-ham, everything sounded amazing... we were planning on only eating a main course but ended up going all out with a three course meal! we were impressed by their presentation, portion sizes and of course their execution. the food was amazing and so was the staff!
we will have to go again to experience their romantic evening atmosphere. they have a great set menu for friday's & saturday's for a really decent price - if you consider what you are getting!

i can highly recommend thisrestaurantfor a number of reasons: the comfortable decor, relaxed atmosphere and friendly welcome from well groomed and neatly dressed waiters; honest food made to perfection and served in big portions; the prices are good and the specials are very attractive. wether you're there for a business lunch or romantic dinner or family celebration - there's dishes on offer for everyone and you'll experience an elegant sufficiency without breaking the bank. relax and let papa cook for you.

not to be missed. the chef "papa" has come out of retirement to produce sublime dishes.

fantastic! thisrestaurantreally is a hidden jem tucked away in the suburbs of waterkloof! it's atmosphere is warm and inviting and has two very distinct personalities; a relaxed european coffee shop/bistro in the front, and a upmarket french fine dining section in the rear. the service was superb, not once did we feel neglected and the staff were very knowledgeable. as for the food itself, the quality was excellent! from the foie gras to the steak, every dish was mouth-watering and we will definitely be back for more! for those of you that might feel that this could get a bit pricey, they do offer all you can eat pasta and pizza on monday's as well as affordable set menus on sundays! so, do yourself a favour and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

this is probably our favouriterestaurantin the whole of pta. as you walk in by the front door you are immediately greeted by a friendly hostess and takes you to a table. the décor and layout of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. you are given menus and a wine connoisseur comes to you and starts explain all the wine to you (his knowledge is very impressive). love to start with starters and the steak tartare is my absolute favourite. so many different tastes in one dish.they bring out freshly baked bread with the most amazing smears. cant get enough of it.the main courses are to die for. from the gourmet burgers to the most tender fillet steaks (and if you think its just a plain fillet you're wrong. think of something that pairs with fillet and its there.)when it comes to desert you are really spoiled for choice. the portions are big enough just to have enough (i must admit sometimes it was so nice that i just craved more).by the way, i didn't mention their breakfast. best breakfast in town and better value for money than most franchise restaurants.i would recommend thisrestaurantto everyone. if i could've kept this gem to myself i defiantly would've.   food and service 12 out of 10.

brilliant 👌 i absolutely love the way thisrestaurantdisguised itself. i promise, when i was shown to this place i was like, oh hell, it's a cheap cafe... and then, i followed my way through the front and to my surprise i was welcome to an amazing setting with dimmed lights and a classy atmosphere. i loved it. honestly, if i had to take someone i'm crazy about for a date i would certainly take them here in the summer and sit outside by the dripping fountains and think i'm in paris. the owners need to be praised for their good work and i think i'm going to do it. the waiters and manager went out of their way. the chef actually came to the table and explained what's the highlights. we followed the advise and had the entre of snails served with fresh herbs. the springbok capriccio served with orate dressing and caramelized nuts drove us crazy! for mains we had the mignon on boite which is slithers of filler served with a creamy mustard and mushroom sauce. the rack of lamb with mustard, chimichurri, honey and mint was a melody of flavours in every bite. the desserts however were all absolutely a disaster. but, and there's a but, it the texture of the pana cota was better, i think it would be the best one o would've had in my life. and trust me, i'm a big fan of pana cota! i will continue trying this place and whenever i have the opportunity to visit i must certainly will go and give constructive criticism. this place has big big big potential. i love it 👌 i will give them the visit of the month.
