we have read reviews about les trois canards for a couple of months now, so was very excited to finally experience it for ourselves!

as some of the previous reviews state, don't be mislead by the reataurant's exterior and streetview - from the outside it looks like a french streetcafé where you can have a quick panini and coffee. but as you walk through the front café, the beautiful background music sets the atmosphere fitting the serene vibe of the restaurant at the back - crisp white tablecloths, shiny wineglasses and the trickle of water from the ducks waterfountain ...feels like you walked into a paris restaurant!

our waiter don greeted us as we entered the restaurant and accompanied us to our table, ready with menu's. he was professional and friendly throughout and served us well.

the food was outstanding! we ordered the lamb shank with rosemary as well as the rack of lamb, both beautifully tender with anamazingsubtle rosemary flavour. the brandy and peppersauce steak was perfectly medium as we requested and the sauce creamy and well balanced. the fillet medalions with camembert and cranberry sauce was our dish of the day - tender and soft with ample sauce, well balanced with the camembert cheese.

regretfully we did not have dessert.... will have to return for it!

overall anamazingeating experience and special family quality time - highly recommend this restaurant!

a restaurant that will make any occasion special!!
i love everything french and have been wanting to eat here since the day they opened their doors so when our first wedding anniversary was around the corner - it only seemed right to try it out. our anniversary was on a sunday so we were looking for some place peaceful, intimate with delicious food and that is exactly what we found!
we were blown away by the menu options and could not choose what we wanted to eat. duck towers, mussel pots, camembert rolled in parma-ham, everything sounded amazing... we were planning on only eating a main course but ended up going all out with a three course meal! we were impressed by their presentation, portion sizes and of course their execution. the food wasamazingand so was the staff!
we will have to go again to experience their romantic evening atmosphere. they have a great set menu for friday's & saturday's for a really decent price - if you consider what you are getting!

this is probably our favourite restaurant in the whole of pta. as you walk in by the front door you are immediately greeted by a friendly hostess and takes you to a table. the décor and layout of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. you are given menus and a wine connoisseur comes to you and starts explain all the wine to you (his knowledge is very impressive). love to start with starters and the steak tartare is my absolute favourite. so many different tastes in one dish.they bring out freshly baked bread with the mostamazingsmears. cant get enough of it.the main courses are to die for. from the gourmet burgers to the most tender fillet steaks (and if you think its just a plain fillet you're wrong. think of something that pairs with fillet and its there.)when it comes to desert you are really spoiled for choice. the portions are big enough just to have enough (i must admit sometimes it was so nice that i just craved more).by the way, i didn't mention their breakfast. best breakfast in town and better value for money than most franchise restaurants.i would recommend this restaurant to everyone. if i could've kept this gem to myself i defiantly would've.   food and service 12 out of 10.

brilliant 👌 i absolutely love the way this restaurant disguised itself. i promise, when i was shown to this place i was like, oh hell, it's a cheap cafe... and then, i followed my way through the front and to my surprise i was welcome to anamazingsetting with dimmed lights and a classy atmosphere. i loved it. honestly, if i had to take someone i'm crazy about for a date i would certainly take them here in the summer and sit outside by the dripping fountains and think i'm in paris. the owners need to be praised for their good work and i think i'm going to do it. the waiters and manager went out of their way. the chef actually came to the table and explained what's the highlights. we followed the advise and had the entre of snails served with fresh herbs. the springbok capriccio served with orate dressing and caramelized nuts drove us crazy! for mains we had the mignon on boite which is slithers of filler served with a creamy mustard and mushroom sauce. the rack of lamb with mustard, chimichurri, honey and mint was a melody of flavours in every bite. the desserts however were all absolutely a disaster. but, and there's a but, it the texture of the pana cota was better, i think it would be the best one o would've had in my life. and trust me, i'm a big fan of pana cota! i will continue trying this place and whenever i have the opportunity to visit i must certainly will go and give constructive criticism. this place has big big big potential. i love it 👌 i will give them the visit of the month.

the three ducks - les trois canards 💁🏼👌🏼

looking for the place is a bit of a drama as there isn't any proper signs to show the place and i legit went to the wrong restaurant at first haha. as you enter you'd think its a small crappy restaurant but as you walk through it just envelopes into something soamazingand romantic. the restaurant is dim light with that romance that emanates the with a fire place that just adds to the ambiance of the restaurant.

i absolutely love that they kept to the french theme to the point where the waiters are even dressed to the t with red berets👊🏼
it was really nice that the chef himself actually came out and made a few recommendations to the menu. the fact that while dining my favorite movie quote by tim burton came to mind - "your cup shall never empty for i shall be your wine" and that's exactly what happened, the waiters were so attentive and on point that my glass was never empty.

the starters i had the escargots which was really done to perfection and this alone set the standard so high so was really keen for the mains. i had a bit of the springbok carpaccio which was so delicious, the orange just brings a whole new flavor to the dish.

for mains i was very intrigued by the mignon on boite - slithers of fillet served with creamy mustard and mushroom sauce. wow!! was i blown away by this dish!! i feel like they really out did themselves here hey.

we then proceed to the desserts and since the food was sooooamazingi had really high expectations for the dessert and unfortunately was left really disappointed. i had the butterscotch toffee pudding, one bite and my facial expression said it all. the texture was horrible, felt like i was eating rubber. i then had some of the panacotta which also had an unusual texture - it was really stiff, perhaps too much gelatine? and then of course had some of the creme brule and yet again disappointed as it was very bland, lacked sugar and had a burnt taste from the caramalized top.

the food was reallyamazingand the ambiance added to it. i will definitely be back to try more dishes and perhaps give the dessert another shot 💁🏼

this dining experience was thanks to zomato inviting me to my first foodie meetup, where i was welcomed by friendly foodies and the great staff of the three ducks. the restaurant is quaint with the main dining area hidden quite far back past the initial setting you see from the road.

the restaurant is dimly lit with a roaring fire, creating an intimate and "romantic" setting. the staff are very friendly and attentive, and helped in making the night an enjoyable one!

as for the food -
the bread basket and dips were very tasty as the dips were not the usual ones you'd get anywhere else. the breads were all warm and toasted, served fresh and in abundance.

the starters and mains were truly authentic and cooked to perfection. the chef came to explain and recommend meals to us, helping us decide what we should have from their extensive and enticing menu.

for starters i had the springbok carpaccio, and tasted the snails as well as calamari.
the flavours that came with the springbok were a great combination, pairing oranges with the meat and complimenting the meal as a whole.
the calamari was also tasty, and even better when having all components together, creating a burst of flavours. (the cheese being the most interesting and flavoursome ingredient)

mains were by far the tastiest meals of the evening. i had the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection and could be pulled off the bone. the meat was however a bit fatty, unfortunately. the fillet served with mushroom and mustard sauce was also delicious; cooked and served perfectly.

the desserts were, unfortunately, the most disappointing options of the evening. the creme brulee was quite bland and had an unusual texture, the panacotta was a bit too stiff, and the butterscotch toffee pudding lacked flavour and also had an unusual texture. i am unsure if this is how french desserts are made/served, but they were not the "normal" puddings i am used to.

overall, this restaurant was anamazingexperience and i will definitely revisit to try some other meals.

i was very excited to finally visit this restaurant as it was on my list for a while. it always looks very quiet from the outside, but the restaurant is actually at the back.

i really liked the ambience especially with the fireplace, it made for a cosy atmosphere. the service was good, except that the waiter seemed a bit new and nervous, but hey, everyone must start somewhere.

our food was delicious and prepared to preference, there was anamazingspecial, which was a welcome surprise, a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for only r190.

i enjoyed the evening and can definitely recommend a visit to le trois canard!

this was my first zomato meetup, so whoop whoop ya'll! once again, thanks to zomato and le trois canards for the opportunity to sit down and talk k@k with fellow foodies :) a good night coupled with great company.

my first impression of le trois canards, was to ask the car guard where it is. they definitely need better signage in front. looking at the venue from the street, you would mistake it for  a tiny little cafe and you would totally miss out on the main dining area at the back. upon entering the venue, i was greeted by friendly faces in a relaxed and very inviting atmosphere and was promptly shown to our table. as i entered the main dining area, i saw a transformation take place from the cute cafe, to the eloquent restaurant. the main dining area has a cozy fireplace, coupled with an array of wines on display in a fairly well thought out space. the only suggestion for this area would be to have better lighting. like, please, please, please.

the wait staff were extremely attentive (i dont think that my wine glass ever ran dry), but i will be back to attest this without the zomato name badge. they did get one of the starter orders wrong, but apart from that, there were no issues. the waiters new the menu fairly well and were they did not know certain details, they were quick to find out from the chef.

now, down to the food. we were served with bread baskets while we waited for our table to get settled. i cant comment on it, as i wasnt too interested in it, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. i had the springbok carpaccio starter, which i found to be a beautiful combination of flavours. the carpaccio itself didnt blow my taste buds out of the park, but it was still nice. again, the combination of ingredients was the real winner here and i would definitely recommend it to anyone. for me, the winning starter of the evening was the escargots. wow! uber wow! a mouth full of deliciousness.

for mains i has the mignon, served with a creamy mushroom sauce. while this was good, i found the sauce to be a wee bit salty, while others found it to have a bit too much mustard. the sauce is still a great pairing for the fillet either way and i'd definitely recommend it. the best dish for me was the rack of lamb. good lord this was awesome. while i agree with everyone that the fat needed to be rendered a bit more, i aint complaining. i've had dreams about that single bit of lamb ever since. this one gets a 10/10.

to finish off our evening (and our wine), i had the pistachio panna cotta. this one was a bit of a disappointment, as it was way too gelatinous. if that problem is solved, it would be a seriouslyamazingdesert. the panna cotta itself is accompanied by (what we assume is) a turkish delight  sauce (almost a coulis) and has got to be one of the best desert sauces i've ever had in my existence. tru dat! hats off to the chef for this one.

le trois canards has the perfect setting for a romantic meal. the staff are attentive and fairly well trained (still some room for growth here). i seriously rate this menu guys and i must say, one look at the menu and i was hooked. if some of the minor details in the dishes are sorted out, it will justify the prices asked for the meals, but a compromise is needed on the price.

overall it was still a fantastic evening and i'll definitely be back here.
