very decent place. my friend and i had their ribs and nothing outstanding. their dipping sauce stands out more than their ribs so therefore i was a bit disappointed.

don't come here with a group of 4 and expect to have a table to sit down. it mostly for take out since there're about 10 counter seats.

i'll come back to try there "best deep friend chicken in town.

nice spot with friendly and organized service, but because they are so busy the wait is a bit long (15-20 eat in/30-35 takeout) i had the butter burger & my don had the fried chicken combo. both were amazing. the burger was so rich in flavor but light in texture. the chicken was just as super tasty (prolly the best i've had)...in house iced tea infused with ginger was very refreshing (think, a very light & slightly sweet version of ja ginger beer) great experience all around...slightly pricey spot for a regular burger or chucken meal but it's worth it on occasion. we'll be back for sure!!

the stockyards has gained the reputation of being one of the best places in toronto for fried chicken. it is a modest size restaurant offering comfort food on st.clair west. i came here for dinner on a thursday to try out their ribs and chicken combo.

confused in toronto. i've heard about this place for years and have been dying to try it. ribs and chicken are always sold out before i get there. finally got smart, called in advance and braved the line and chaos. what followed was one of the most disappointing meals i've had in a long time. all three of us are big rib eaters and agreed we make better ourselves. ribs were dry, salty and overlooked. chicken was very average. very surprised and confused by all the hype! won't be experiencing it again!

we could tell upon entering the restaurant that the staff here is very unique compared to the other places we’ve visited. first of all, the environment is more informal and the staff treat each other and their customers as if they were long time friends. the servers would hug several customers upon their arrival, an indication that they are regulars at the restaurant. they also had an open kitchen where you could sit along the kitchen bar and interact with the chefs if you wish.

i did find the restaurant really tiny and for the type of food you are eating- you need a lot of elbow room to be biting down on those bones. my friend and i sat at the bar facing the wall and it was just too tight with high chairs it was uncomfortable. if i do go back, i will probably do a take out which a lot of people seem to do. overall, i really enjoyed my meal at stockyards. fried chicken dinner was def my favorite and i can't wait to go back.

yikes. not sure how this place got on a "best restaurant" list.

greasy and extremely over-salted food.

it's the kind of place you want to love when you walk in but the food just doesn't measure up.

mixed bag. this experience at stockyards was definitely a mixed bag for me. i had heard about it on the food network's ddd so on a visit to see my family in toronto i insisted on hauling them all the way across town in brutal traffic because i thought it would be a fun, lively place to eat. lesson learned. while we all enjoyed the generous portions of food that we ordered i.e. (fried chicken, brisket sandwich, burgers, fries, etc.) it was unfortunately overshadowed by the lack of air conditioning and employees who seemed completely stressed out, over worked and totally annoyed with their customers. we felt really awkward and ended up scarfing our meals down quickly just to get out of the hostile environment. they clearly have great food which is why i gave it a 'like' (and know how to cook it) but at the end of the day, you have to treat your customers properly irregardless of how you feel. i have since noticed that stockyards is closed until july 25th so hopefully this means that the owner is installing ac for his staff and possibly doing a little re-training on customer service. i'm not sure if it's even legal these days for employees to work without ac???

sooo goood. i've been here a hand full of times and every time has been delicious! i would say go for the fried chicken and waffles during their brunch on the weekends. it ends at 3pm so it's advisable to try to be there by at least 2:45 however i've seen them serve people until 3. it comes with this awesome sweet and sour sauce that looks like it has black pepper in it as well. i liked it so much i asked for it specifically when i came during non-brunch hours. the chicken is nicely season and moist and the waffles were fluffy but also crunch on the outside. seating is really limited.

fried chicken over belgian waffles with a chili maple molasses citrus glaze. i loved the waffles; they were creamy and soft and a perfect vehicle for the chicken and glaze. the chicken was fried to perfection (crispy skin but moist and juicy meat), but there was something about the sauce that i was on the fence about. maybe it was because it was not the sweet syrup that i was expecting, but rather it was more of a savory glaze with hints of maple. i am also not a fan of orange citrus, and i could taste this flavor clearly and i felt that it overpowered all the other elements of the glaze. my friend however loved the sauce. so really, this is a subjective matter. i would order this again, but i would ask for the sauce on the side.

generous amount of good fried chicken, though i prefer harlem's. fries okay, didn't much like the coleslaw.

the stockyards offers modern renditions of classic comfort food for all your bbq cravings. despite the fact that they opened in 2009, their 48-hour brined and marinated fried chicken and authentic wood smoked carolina style bbq still attracts a lot of buzz in the city.
