pulled pork-stocky yards. i had the pulled pork...it was gross...the pork was dry and leathery...bbq sauce too tangy and it was not well incorporated with the pork...disconnected flavours...just gross...if you people want to know what a real smoke house is about visit texas, new orleans, carolinas and or kansas...trust me this is not a smoke hhouse...its a craphouse...

we cannot argue the venue was impressive – warm and filled with people, it was glowing in energy but that unique, secluded feel has a long way to go in making it to our mouths.

we’re totally suckers for comfort food and when we sat down in front of this sign, we knew we were in the right place. their menu had burgers, fried chicken, and of course the slow-cooked ribs and pulled pork. i ordered the cider braised pork sandwich ($11). the pork was braised in cider and served with sauteed kale, caramelized onion, apple, fried sage. there was a garlic mayo sauce as well as some cider juices. i added some shoestring fries.     the sandwich was delicious and a lot more filling than the portion size makes it look. it was chocked full of meat after all. there was a nice acidity from the cider and very different from the usual bbq sauce soaked type of pulled pork

don't be fooled by  the stockyards greasy spoon vibe: this little eatery has great service and you are guaranteed to leave happy and full. the menu serves up ribs, fried chicken, hot dogs and a variety of burgers. the first time we went the place was quite full, not difficult, given that  it only fits about 15 people, we managed to get a seat at the back bar.  we ordered the  fried chicken dinner,  the portion was so huge it was definitely  enough for two people. he dinner came with four large pieces of juicy, well seasoned fried chicken - some of the best we have ever had. the portion of shoe string fires which accompanied the chicken seemed like it was endless - more than the two of us could eat.  would we go back? yes! posted by nangaritis at tuesday, march 19, 2013 email this

....atmosphere is very comfortable, with a relaxed-country feel and lots of toronto old-time memorabilia. the staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful when it came to decision time. they definitely steered us in the right direction.

more flavor levels than a mario game.. we had the portobello burger and bbq brisket sandwich. absolutely incredible. we went on a saturday, the place was hopin', very lively, super friendly service. my only dislike was having to smell the deliciousness on the way home and having to wait to eat it! need to go back for the fried chicken, it's apparently legendary.

someone mentioned on here about it being like a club and them creating a fake sense of demand... hahahaha

anyway, seriously though. what kind of business sells there best product only 3 times a wk?! i'm sorry but that's a little ridiculous. that's just lazy and to be frank, a pretty dumb way to run a business.

besides that, the food was subpar. i went for the brisket, it was bland and average at best. the bbq was not good and very acidic. the butter burger was also nothing to write home about. the fried chicken looked quite greasy, but i can't comment on the taste. portion size is excellent but for what you pay, it damn well should be. the eat-in experience was not enjoyable at all either. the smell of grease and smoke was overwhelming and made us nauseous. i think i'll stick to my original bbq joint... phil's original ftw!

disappointed. i went here on the insistence of my daughter, who goes frequently. we order half ribs, and 4 burgers all with cheese and bacon. come home excited as it smelled amazing to discover that we only got 2/4 burgers right. i had to make the bacon which was no where near what they served and to not get any cheese which i had to suffice with crappy cheese. never again. very disappointed to receive this after so much hype. lesson learnt never go when they are busy. and very pricy... 82$ for everything!!! :s

good food, but some things need to be fixed. overall, the food is delicious. i went there with my wife and i got the butter burger while she got the beast burger. great portions of food that were very tasty. my burger could've used a touch more blue cheese, but it was still really good.

service is very friendly, but not too attentive or informative. they didn't come by once to see if we needed anything, nor did i even get a bill at the end. they were really busy, so i somewhat understand, but she walked by many times and didn't ask us if we needed more ketchup or drinks or anything.

all the food that i saw from other patrons looked great as well and all the portions looked very large.

a touch expensive for fast food type of food ($40 for two burgers, fries, and cokes) but that seems to be in line with the upper scale burger places nowadays anyway. plus you get much bigger portions than burger's priest.

bill payment was very confusing with no explanation from staff and no signage. when we finished the meal we just kind of walked up to the line at the cash register because it didn't seem like the server was going to be bringing the bill around. there was only one cash register so i was waiting in line with people paying for take-out. some people would just walk right past the line and pay. some that had just eaten and some that were coming off the street for pick up. it was getting kind of annoying but the cashiers were letting it happen.

i ended up waiting in line for a good 15 minutes before paying. they either need better signage, another cash register, or to have the waitress bring the bill over with a portable debit machine.

overall great food, but some things could definitely be improved upon.

we'll definitely be going back though.

outstanding. after reading the rave reviews on this bbq joint in this summer's food & drink magazine we decided that next time we were in the t-dot (from ottawa) that this venue would be in our "must do" list while there. although i had expected a glamours and large venue (very small with no frills) it was quickly overlooked by the fantastic smell and the most amazing client service. lisa, was the most friendliest server i ever encountered and provided us with great recommendations (we went for the ribs but were not available). the pulled pork was outstanding, the portobello mushroom burger was fantastic and the fries...oh the fries. the homemade fresh lemonade was great, but we found the ginger tea to be the star. the biscuits and coleslaw were also very pleasing. the cuban sandwich was good, but it was not comparable to the others. . although it is small and super busy, it is most worth the entire experience. love it and keep up the smokin' good food!

we got there around 10am and sat right at the front of the restaurant, there are only bar seatings so i wouldn't advise coming with large groups. i really liked the country, laid back atmosphere here with extremely friendly servers.  okay let's get to the good stuff, the chicken & waffles, $13.00!

a bit disappointing. we were disappointed when we arrived and found out the bbq ribs and chicken were sold out despite being there at 6pm. i guess this is often the case on the days they serve ribs. we had something else, a brisket sandwich, and fried chicken and unfortunately neither were very good. the brisket was dried out, and the chicken and fries were just too greasy. it was also quite expensive considering it is essentially just a greasy spoon, nearly 50 dollars after tax and tip. we were a little disappointed as we were looking forward to checking this place out but it was quite a let down. i don't think we will return unless we can get on the waiting list for the ribs which seem to be consistently sold out? some other people ordered burgers and they looked pretty good so maybe we just ordered the wrong thing for this place?
