wow, food comes out piping hot and is so awesome!!! we ordered the fried chicken dinner with fries which was super satisfying and was hot till the end of our meal. fries were reallygoodtoo. we also ordered the bis-mack burger and it was so bomb! it was like having a gourmet big mac! food was not salty or dry, everything was so juicy and the flavors were on point. the only thing we didn't like was the coleslaw. oh, we also ordered the potato salad, it was a great choice. staff is friendly, i would definitely come back here.

fantastic fried chicken... i would say the best that i've ever had in my life... they are brined for one day and marinated in buttermilk for another one day before they make their way to the frier. i tried the pulled pork as well, but it wasn't asgoodas i expected it to be. i will back again for sure, not only for the fried chicken, but to try their burger as well.

best burger ever. got taken here last night. was not very hungry and not really impressed with the menu. just ordered a burger and fries. ended up inhaling the burger and eating more fries than a human should. it was just awesome!

portions are large and you will be too busy to talk so notgoodfor a first date place. ;-) definately a great place for homemade, hand made food. many a pulled pork sandwich was ordered and it seems to be a fav.

i had bookmarked the stockyards a while ago, based on something that i had read somewhere aboutgoodburgers, and today we had an opportunity to check it out at lunchtime. the first thing i noticed when we entered is that it is not a big restaurant. about a third of the restaurant is occupied by an open kitchen, and the remaining areas only have counter and stool seating. i am not fond of stools, but it's about the food, right? the restaurant was relatively full, but there were two seats together at the end of the main counter in front of the kitchen. when it is busy, you are sitting and eating elbow to elbow with someone. it did feel a bit cramped at times.

we looked over the menu briefly. we notice that the people sitting beside us had chicken and waffles that looked pretty good, so swmbo's decision was made. she chose the 2 piece ($14) instead of the 4 piece ($17), which turned out to be more than enough for lunch. the chicken is marinated in buttermilk, and then deep fried, giving it a pretty crispy exterior. the thicker of her two pieces could have used a bit more time in the fryer; it was probably cooked all the way, but she did leave a couple of small bites.

i was trying to decide between a pulled pork sandwich and a burger, so i asked our server. she asked me if i had ever had one of their burgers, to which i replied no, and she suggested i try that first. i chose the green chili pimento cheese burger and added fries. i watched the cook prepare the burger. first he sprinkled salt on the flat top grill, then he dropped a ball of hamburger meat on top of the salt. he used a hand press to squash the meat to a uniform thickness. once it was cooked on one side, he flipped it over and added a large dollop of a thick, white sauce that must have been the jalapeño, cheddar and mayo mixture. when done, that was placed inside a grilled bun with butter lettuce, and served in a cast iron skillet, with a pile of fries. this was a prettygoodburger. the fries were also prettygoodtoo.

so overall some mixed results, but still agoodouting. i would go back if someone i know wanted to give it a try.

another restaurant featured on diners, drive ins and dives that is a great place for burgers and fried chicken. it's not spacious so you're better off taking it too go but once you're in and having agoodtime then you're all good.

the owner is a great guy and the rest of the staff are friendly too. expectgoodrecommendations but be warned everything is good.

we were curious enough to drive there to try out a burger made famous on the show which had beef bone marrow and butter. unfortunately that burger was discontinued.

but no complaints as the other dishes were great. try their fried chicken as it's really good. we also had the green chilli pimento burger and the dirty thirty.

the stockyards is a place not to be missed.

this is some seriouslygoodchicken. whether it's the fried chicken or chicken and waffles (seriously, if you haven't tried it, you must) this place is up there with the best homemade fried chicken from the southern us. prices are a little high but worth it for the occasional spoil-session.

i have been here a couple times over the years. most recently i came here for an early lunch with a friend.
she had the smoked trout breakfast sandwich - delicious!!!
burger - well cooked with regular toppings, extra pickles.goodtasting beef.
service - delightful
it was nice to sit at the counter to watch the cook do his thing.
i did get the smoked trout a couple days later myself and it was super delicious. the flavours were delicate and well suited to each other.
will return!!!!!!

went here with jamaal and ordered fried chicken dinner and beast burger. was gonna do the chicken and waffles but that's only available til 3pm and we came for dinner. to be honest i just don't get the obsession with c&w but for some reason i just keep trying and being underwhelmed so i didn't mind missing out. the burger and chicken came fairly quick for being freshly made but i will note we did beat the dinner rush by showing up at like 6:30. burger wasgoodand reminded me of burger priest which is good. chicken was well seasoned (much better than other places i've had) and crispy but not overly breaded for my taste. hot sauce was needed for sure. fries were wicked and nice and thin and crispy. be warned: the portions are really big. i could have split chicken dinner with another girl and been satisfied. i think for portions the price was fair. friendly and attentive staff.

does stockyards engage in racial profiling?

yes.

the service is absolutely terrible. my friend and i are both black and we wanted to try out this place because of the reviews. my friend went in first while i parked the car. when i entered, the waitress said "who's here for a table of two". in response, we said "us", and she looked straight through us and had a full on conversation with the white customers next to us. after she finished her conversation, she said "come here".

after she sat us down, we waited for almost 15 minutes and she didn't even come to ask for our orders. when she passed by us, i had to flag her down and tell her that we were finally ready to order. no apology for the long wait. nothing. when she finally got our food after another 25 minutes, we noticed that she was much more attentive with the white guests in the restaurant than with us. when i asked for extra napkins, she made a huge "sigh" and hit my shoulder with the napkins. she was sarcastic, unprofessional and annoying. by contrast, she was so respectful and patient with the white guests. we couldn't believe it.

thegoodthing is that they forgot to charge us for the orange juice and considering the shitty service we didn't remind them.

so, if you're white and want to have your white privilege re-affirmed, then you should goto stockyards. otherwise, non-white people and white people with a conscious should watch out for this place. if you want a 1940's, mason-dixon line, plantation experience, then come to stockyards!  

never again! avoid at all costs!

the stockyards is just one of the places i love hitting up during winter when i have bbq cravings. 

the restaurant itself is quite small and there are only a few tables to sit down. it is very cramped so i would prefer getting take out. this place is nothing fancy but we're here for the food so i can't complain too much. 

i decided to check out their beef brisket which was pretty good. i wouldn't say it was amazing but it definitely satisfies my bbq cravings. they have agoodbrunch on sundays as well which i would love to check out if i get the chance.

stockyards smokehouse & larder. i have heardgoodthings about this place.. so my friends & i walk into this place expecting a lot.goodthing our expectations were definitely met. we enjoyed their delicious fried chicken. its superb. service was great>

oooooh that's somegoodchicken! tried the chicken and waffles and with a line out the door on a chilly toronto day you know this place got something tasty. loved the flavours and the mess! juicy chicken on point. will definitely run back for a burger next time!

came here on a visit to toronto after seeing a special on diners, drive ins and dives on the food network. i got there in the early evening and had to wait a little bit for a table but it was well worth it! i had the brisket and my boyfriend had the bat (a twist on a blt but with arugula instead of lettuce and a fried green tomato). everything was absolutely amazing and delicious! i highly recommend getting there early to avoid a line. you can also call ahead and pick up your order, as i saw many locals doing. anything you order will begoodand you will leave feeling happy and satisfied!

lived up to the hype. we (2 of us) came here on sunday morning around 2:00 and we waited a bit for a table but you need to keep in mind: this is not a sit down restaurant, this is a very popular place with limited so be prepared to wait a bit or do takeout and stop crying about the seating. if you come with more than 2 ppl, it will be way harder as well.
we got the fried chicken dinner, love the chicken, perfectly juicy and crisp and the fries were reallygoodas well. the coleslaw had a nice dressing as well. one idea that may take this over the top is if they create some type of spicy aioli to dip the chicken in.
also got the dirty bird, sogoodi liked the gravy and the bacon. this placed lived up to the hyper and showed us the reasons so many ppl talk about it and recommend it. yummm

tear down the wall. can't blame a place for being too packed or busy i guess but it's the one thing pretty much everyone complains about as well as the staggered bbq menu days
people come for ribs and smoked chicken on the odd days and looking really pissed off when they were informed that they were sold out or not on the menu that day. actually happened to me and my brother 2 years ago when they ran out of ribs but we murdered the rest of the menu.
i honestly think they thought we were critics cuz they gave us a free bigmac style burger cut in half to share. (it was the only thing we didn't actually order) all of the food was verygoodand the cooks were very confident and banged out 50 covers in front of us while we feasted. i have my own smokers and charcoal bbqs and knowgoodbbq
they use a lot of smoke on the meat and some might find it strong because its not slathered in sauce but thats what they're going for here. the smoked chicken is my favorite and my bro likes the ribs but try anything cuz it's all done right. and the beautiful brown lady at the front taking orders and expediting and waiting tables and taking calls and etc etc is a freakin machine who doesn't stop moving to keep the wheels turning smith and fast

they ran out of ribs so we had the rest if the menu pretty much. smoked chicken was perfect, not too smokey. pulled pork had tons of flavour. fried chicken was juicy and had flavour beyond the skin. coke came in glass bottles not fountain swill. no fancy furniture or decor, this place lets the food and friendly service speak for itself and i would go back soon again and often.
