happy hour specials are offered only at the bar — every night except saturday. given the value and the fresh seafood, the bar was unsurprisingly packed, but we grabbed two seats as soon as another party vacated them. the acoustics pleased and impress both me and my husband. as i wrote, the place was packed and lively conversations were rampant, but it was possible to hear each other without straining and speak without shouting. there’s something of an ocean liner ambiance to oceanaire, which goes with the hear-and-be-heard aspect.

it was discustung. aside from few appetasing appetasiers. we were there with about 10 people we ordered few pounds of king crab legs and they were spoiled how pathetic. manager came over appologised and stock us with a bill. i would not recommend this place to my enemy. no wonder there were 2-3 occupied tables on a saturday might. yak yak yak.

i loved it!! happy hour was the best. very nice staff. it was under staffed, but the great food and service made it worth it. we had no wait, we just walked into the bar and the nice gentleman in a suit took great care of us.

worst service at the bar. i blame the management. when you have a restaurant located directly across from the theater you should know to staff accordingly. alas, every time i eat here (purely out of convenience of location) it's awful. on my last visit, it took me 15 minutes to get a glass water and then another 10 to get a drink and order food. i event went onto their website and gave feedback and no one ever bothered to respond.

great place for fish lovers!. where else can you go in the twin cities and find australian barramundi, mexican corvina, and hawaiian blue marlin on the menu on a daily basis? ocaenaire is fish, and it does it well! to me, this is a "special occasion" place. we dropped over $200 with no alcohol, but shared apps and desserts. i highly recommend the oysters. we tried a mix of 3 from the east coast and 3 from the west. they came perfectly chilled. the calamari was very tasty. i thought it would be spicy being it was infused with red chilies, but it sweet and flavorful. my jumbo sea scallops were $34, but the four were perfectly seared with a wonderful buttery center. mmmm! their house salad was wonderful, and huge. my favorite side was the roasted beets with blue cheese. we shared desserts - key lime pie and death by chocolate. the chocolate cake says it feeds 3-4, but i think it feeds 12! it was enormous! all in all, a great dinner. service was top notch, food was spectacular. only thing i didn't like was the blue neon lights overhead. i'll be back... when i come into some more money ;)

took wife for anniversary. not a good experience, at all. food is overpriced for quality. service was poor and very slow. examples: ordered coffee after dinner and coffee was room temperature. seriously! after main course we waited and waited and waited for server to offer coffee and dessert. won't be going back!

the famous crab cakes are pretty good - all real crab meat - with a tasty mustard-mayo topping. the kid dynamite baja yellowtail was good - spiced with the sriracha (rooster) sauce. we loved crisp truffled cauliflower with yellow raisins. finished off with the flaming bombe alaska - with mint chocolate chip ice cream!

overrated, over priced. 4 scallops. $40. no side dishes or any other items. just 4 scallops. that weren't that fantastic. save your money.

best seafood in mpls. lovely oyster bar. hint: if you eat at the bar, the prices are much better and you can get fantastic seafood and a nice bottle of wine fairly in expensively. one of my very favorite places in mpls.

3 likes and two ok's. i liked this because i was out voted by three of our party of 5. the lobster bisque was very good. yada yada yada! the three likes had grilled or pan seared fish. the were very satisfied. i had the sea and air dish. scallops and duck. the scallops were very good, the duck was chewy and not prepared correctly which was apparent by its chewy consistency. my son had the fish and chips. the fish was dry but the chips (fries) were very good. - he is 19 yrs old. - just in case you were wondering.

the service was ok. didn't get a very warm welcoming feeling.

atmosphere was vogue and very cool.

i broke my rule...when at a seafood restaurant eat seafood.

it was expensive for what i think we got from the experience. -dad (the guy that pays the check)

worth a splurge. yes, it's expensive, but this is the midwest and you're going out for fresh seafood served gourmet-style in an upscale atmosphere. pay attention to the specials and don't be shy about asking the waitstaff for recommendations--they know what they're talking about.

another one bites the dust. used to love oceanaire. deftly prepared fish, great service. alas, this one has gone the way of big chains. overly dressed, soggy salads. over sauced entrees. under performing service. good martini but even it couldn't take the edge off our experience. when you start criticizing the poorly fitting suits of the staff then you know the love affair has ended and its time to move on.
