four of us had dinner at oceanaire. we started with an assortment of oysters, and we were amazed at how fresh they were. all of their seafood is fresh that day. i ordered scallops topped dynamite (spicy crab) and my husband ordered the grilled baja white sea bass. we also ordered the brussles sprouts. they have a great wine selection. great menu. great staff. not sure why their rating is a 3.5, should definitely be over a 4.

planned a light bite b/f baseball game on a tuesday night. bar area was nearly packed, but i managed to squeeze in at the end. $7 generous absolut martini (x2) paired perfectly well w/ a dozen freshly shucked oysters of 3 types. there were over a dozen choices from the east & west coasts of n america, but 3 bc varieties were offered at $1 each as part of happy hour. jr & the rest of the staff, incl the 2 chefs shucking directly in front of me, were prompt, professional, & collegial.

my waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wine list & i enjoyed his personality. i ordered the cod "louie" but the kitchen ran out of cod. my waiter suggested the same dish, but with halibut for the same price. i highly recommend their calamari and crab cakes as well. the food was amazing! managers walked the floor and checked on all of the tables. i was very impressed with the service and quality of food.

fresh, fresh seafood. oceanaire only serves what's fresh that day. this is good news and bad news -- good becuase the fish is exceedingly fresh and bad news because once the selection is gone, there's no more waiting in the freezer.
we visited at about 10:30 pm and some of the more popular selections were gone.
don't pass up the fired asparagus. fat stalks of celery are lightly coated with cornmeal and fried very delicately leaving the asparagus crisp. the fried celery sits atop a lemony sauce.
crabcakes are exactly as advertised -- little breading and lots of flavor.
succulent bone-in ribeye is a good choice for the non-fish eater.
no room for the beautiful baked alaska.
proper and gracious service. not too loud -- able to converse comfortably.

we had dinner at oceanaire last night and i have to admit it was good but pricy. our server was knowledgeable and service was quick. the food was really decent but not quite up to the price.atmosphere was a bit noisy due to a table of 15 guys next to us. other than that everyone had a good time. i probably won't come back just simply because there's so many other good places in the gaslamp district.

romantic anniversary dinner!. we had a great time at this restaurant! the service was some of the best i've ever seen. they really know how to treat customers! our waiter greeted us by name and spent a good amount of time going over the menu and giving us recommendations which were all spot on. the food came in huge portions and was skillfully prepared. we got a free desert of flaming baked alaska because it was our anniversary. the dinner was quite pricey, but we left stuffed!

noisy busy dining room, hard to hold conversation. everything was tasty, and service was fine, but both were better at ocean prime. apparently we overstayed our welcome in the dining room, and we're invited to vacate our table for the bar. i guess if we'd payed $10 a person instead of $80, that wouldn't have bothered me. i won't go back.

i have eaten at oceanaire restaurants in other cities and had excellent experiences. this was my first time at the denver restaurant. the food was quite good, but the service was the worst i have had in many years. i took my family there to celebrate a special occasion, and we left feeling like we could have had a better experience at red lobster. very long delay in bringing drinks to the table. my wife ordered tilefish special, but waiter delivered monkfish. upon stating this is not what we ordered, waiter left for 2 minutes then came back and said they were out of tilefish so they gave her monkfish instead. yeah, right. we won't be coming back, and we will not be recommending denver oceanaire to our friends.

best steak and shrimp in minnesota.... what a wonderful experience. we have dined at all the premium establishments downtown and the oceanaire rises above the pack. with exception to our favorite romantic restaurant la belle vi, this will be at the top of the list for a dining experience where the food tastes amazing, the service is exceptional and in the end, the cost of the meal is more than reasonable. tonight started with a warm greeting from assistant manager nate, followed by a friendly hello from our server nat. what we didn’t realize at the beginning of the meal was that nat would become our favorite waiter in minneapolis/st.paul. if you read our other reviews, praise is often given to outstanding waiters. nat is at the top of his profession. he has worked here over seven years and it shows. his passion for the food, his gentle approach and his big smile. you instantly feel comfortable. the first course was a shrimp crab bite on a cracker with cucumber and sriracha sauce. it was so good. the relish tray was old school and we loved it. bread was fresh and had great flavor. next was the scallop. perfectly cooked with tomato and fresh pesto. this is how a scallop should be served. next was the orange salad. greens with orange mimosa vinaigrette, goat cheese and candied orange shavings. we would return just for this salad. next was the trout with crab. we do not like trout. this trout was spectacular. crispy skin, perfectly cooked and so full of flavor without the strong fish taste. we were impressed with the culinary skills of the chef. next was the best course of the evening. the best shrimp and steak we have experienced in minnesota. we were sad when mortons closed in downtown. this is no longer true. we will return to the oceanaire for the steak and seafood louie often. the medium rare steak was cooked perfectly. the flavor was without equal and the sauces that accompanied the steak and shrimp were amazing. this would have been the perfect way to end the meal but they served a slice of key lime pie and a slice of new york cheesecake with a fruit topping that was awesome. the entire service team is professional and friendly. the restaurant was packed on a friday night. the noise level is loud. this would be my only concern about the oceanaire. for a truly romantic setting this is not the place. parking is valet or on the street. if you are downtown minneapolis and want a memorable meal, make reservations at the oceainaire.

valentine's day dinner 2/14/14. this was the second time we had been to oceanaire. the first was the best.
far, far, far over priced for valentine's day! what a rip off!

however, lobster was great, crabcakes were just like those in maryland :), swordfish was horrible!!
service should be much better for those kind of prices. too many servers leaning on counters/walls, etc. for such a busy evening. such a shame.

we booked this evening 2 months in advance b/c we were celebrating. no one ever asked us if they "could do or provide any extras (flowers/cake/champagne, etc) for us." it is called "upselling." learn it if you want to stay at top end of the restaurant industry. we were there to spend $$ and could have spent far more. your loss.
