ok. so i've had to downgrade to 3 from what i believe should be a 3.5 venue due to a lack of a consistent quality in their dinner service.

that said, always a lovely place for a quick after work drink and their fish and chips - mushy peas and soda bread is a great combo. not sold on the malted vinegar ;)

service sucks. called to book for a private dining and accused me for being someone else just because the other person have the same bookings details. never going to this place.

what an absolute delight!
fantastic steaks and the most lovely staff!
the entrees are also to die for especially the stuffed mushrooms!

have also had work functions here and the service was very efficient.

have been here so many times i've lost count.

a true irish pub from the food to the staff. great food including the traditional irish fare. everything is made onsite, even the addictive soda bread. great selection of wines and beers and my favourite venue quality, an upstairs beer garden. my favourite dish is the millawa chicken. unless you're super hungry, i would recommend sharing your dish.

when i think of the irish my mind used to think of four leaf clovers, leprechaun and stew. but now when i think irish my mind instantly says the last jar. close to the victoria market this irish pub sits on the corner inviting all those who are keen on guinness and pints. although i am not either one of those i was told about their story and how amazing their food was. being an enthusiast of those 2 things there is nothing keeping me away from entering through the doors.

had an amazing lunch experience here. food is top quality and has an amazing concept with making as much as possible on site giving you a personalised touch of goodness.
a bustling irish pub, great for a pint of beer but even better to enjoy that with some top quality irish grub.

went there for lunch.. the place has a nice ambiance; it has an irish pub slash cozy dinning feel to it. the staff are very accommodating and friendly. the food was great. the servings are quite sumptuous, so being a bit pricey was alright. i will go back for sure.

mr b does d. anything mixed with guiness must be a winner.. an open fire and mushy peas with hot 'fat chips'. mr b shows his weakness! well done the last jar!

delightful!. a friend and i popped in here recently to enjoy some irish pub food and were not disappointed! service was friendly and even though it was very busy (a friday night) our food came quickly and was superb! i had the baked spud which was soft and fluffy as a cloud with gorgeous cheese and a lovely salad. my friend's fish and chips were incredible too and prices very reasonable. will be back, keep up the amazing work!

food is gorgeous!. went here after seeing a gig at the drunken poet. ordered the scotch eggs, crumbed garlic mushrooms, fish and chips, the steak--all of them were absolute winners. servings are huge, and the staff are quite friendly. will definitely go back to try out other items on the menu.

yum yum yum! this is my second visit to the last jar but will not be my last. the quality of the ingredients used in this kitchen are second to none. every morsel tastes so good i can't stop myself eating more, more, more. do you self a favor and eat here. you won't regret it, except when you step on the scales.

every march 17th, it has become customary for the wider population of the western world to partake in the drinking festival to celebrate ireland’s favourite saint.  known for introducing the irish to the holy trinity via use of the now iconic 3-leaf clover, st patrick now shares this would-be religious celebration with the even more popular guinness. for one day only, (two if you count the “half-way to st patrick’s day”), pop your best green clothing on, don a silly hat and drink copious amounts of black gold, (about 1.5 billion pints a year are sold worldwide).  and anyone concerned about their waistlines needn’t worry (too much) since a pint of guinness only contains around 200 calories (about 880kj). while there is plenty of family fun to be had at the melbourne irish festival  in fitzroy on the sunday before st patrick’s day, for those looking for a last minute venue to get their irish tipple on, here is a list of some venues around melbourne that might be worth checking out: 1. pj o’brien’s – southbank located on the ground floor of the southgate centre on melbournes southbank, this place is always willing to put on a celebration for any irish event be it rugby, soccer and they’ve even got behind ireland in the cricket.  this year pj’s is putting on another st patrick’s day party and if their “half-way to st patrick’s day” was anything to go by then it promises to be a good day.  plenty of beef and guinness pies, pints of the good stuff and no doubt another show of the giant guinness pint mascot. a lineup of 5 irish bands will be sure to keep the party going, there will be irish dancing at 9am and midday and get yourself a big irish breakfast with a drink for $25.  if you can’t make tuesday then they are holding a st practice day on sunday as well. 2. the irish times pub – melbourne cbd this cozy little irish pub proudly flies the irish flag (literally) on little collins street in melbourne’s cbd.  plenty of rugby memorabilia adorn the walls in this pub and wit

great atmosphere but unfortunately the food was unimpressive. i went with a big group and only a couple of people had positive things to say about their meals.

cool irish gastro pub. i wasn't even aware of irish food until i ate here, but i like it now!

the kitchen makes their own bread here and it is utterly delicious - chewy and springy.

i had the snapper, oysters and seaweed broth - very unusual but full of flavour. my bf had the steak which came with chunky chips and salad....the serve was massive.

i would love to return and try more of the irish fare on the menu.

ps don't forget to check out the cute little 'snug' and the beer garden!
