green goddess is a small french quarter restaurant with a great array ofvegetarianand vegan fare paired with exciting cocktails. what it lacks in size it more than makes up for with gigantic flavors that come from the fresh ingredients. calling green go

the green goddess - is a restaurant in the french quarter which has outdoor seating arrangement. it is in the small lane in exchange pi tucked away in row houses which resembles a french colony

been here for a weekend lunch. had to wait at least 15 minutes to get a table. what interested us to try this place is for thevegetarianoptions it offered because my friend whom i was with is a vegetarian

we were pleasantly surprised to see this dish in the menu - rolled uttapam and jumped on to order it. it's a crepe rolled with tomatoes, onions, pepper etc withvegetariangravy and tamrind chutney. it tasted find however a confusing dish - lack of clarity what they wanted to offer

the other dish we ordered was a burrata roll. its a sandwich with cheese and salad. not a bad dish, would i order again probably not

the service was laid back and slow. it is over pricey for what they offer

we enjoyed our lunch at cafe carmo so much that we decided to try another new orleans eatery withvegetarianoptions. read my review of our tofu, meat, and seafood dishes at green goddess after the jump. lemongrass tofu breadless po boy with a side of creole kalethis was the vegan dish for me. i loved this. the tofu has a lot of flavor, and it is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. the creole kale is also nicely-seasoned without being spicy.

great food. my wife and daughter arevegetarian, i am decidedly not! we all found delicious choices on the very eclectic menu. from cheesy grits and pickled veggies to pork cooked to perfection. i wish i could have fit more. highly recommended stop , lunch with apps and a couple drinks under $60.00.

not very vegetarian. i assumed this was avegetarianrestaurant but there were only a couple ofvegetarianoptions. my impression of this place was that it was more about the alcohol than the food.

mixed feelings. portions are a bit pricy for small plates, which were 13-20 each. probably needed 3 to make a meal for two of us. drinks were outstanding. waitstaff was varied and knowledgeable. we came in the winter, but it seems like a great place to sit outside and have a long meal with a couple of unique cocktails. multiplevegetarianfriendly options.
cons: value
pros: delicious, innovative, vegetarianfriendly, good drinks and wine list

different, amazing,. i love this place. it has different food that i have not experienced at any other restaurant ever. i also like that it has alot ofvegetarianoptions that arent just a basic salad, that took actual creativity and skill to make... and it has meat-centered options for those carnivorous folks.

you have to understand what you are getting into when you go to green goddess. im not trying to be a food snot here, but its not a friggin' chilis. its a awesome atmosphere, laid back, staffed by knowledgeable people and the chefs love and know food. they dont serve you something they arent passionate about. so dont expect to go there and get a cheeseburger and dont go there if you are looking for basic staples. the way the menu is set up, you are supposed to try a few dishes and share them with dinner friend. thats the best way to experience this place. get a few different tastes and plates and such. yeah, its not the cheapest way to dine, but its worth the money you pay, . you are paying for ingredients that are hard to get and not found everywhere. its also not a meant to be a quick bite. sit back, relax, and enjoy a bottle of wine

speaking of that, you can get really really good wine for very decent fancyish restaurant wine prices. we got a bottle for $32 that was amazing.

in short, im sorry if this sounded stuck up, but go there. its good. its very different.

sloooow service. i went there because i read that it'svegetarianfriendly. while the meal of roasted veggies wasn't bad, it had no protein. but the worst was the service. it was unbelievably slow.

best veg food in the south. my fiancee is avegetarianand we have been to many restaurants in houston and atlanta, and t green goddess is much better than any of them. excellent service, the restaurant really is the epitome for fine dining. it fills a niche no one else has. highly recommended.

unique, wonderful. love everything about this place.

service was great. setting is wonderful -- in a wide slated alley of ancient buildings in a fun, active part of the quarter.

menu was 5 pages of special drinks and 1 of food. but every food item was unique to them. tons of interestingvegetariandishes, but i've only tried meat dishes, all great.

the crazy take on the cuban ("luau") sandwich works way better than it sounds -- pulled pork, pickled banana, pineapple, all kinds of strange stuff, on ciabatta for $13. side salad with it -- wonderful. also loved the lox entree -- tons of smoked salmon, 5 little pancakes, capers, cream cheese, cucumber -- all fresh, generous portions, tasty.

sodas are not corporate coke-junk, but small caribbean stuff made with mild cane sugar.
ate jan. 2010.

optimistic but alas.... i have been keeping an eye out forvegetarianoptions and am always looking forward to trying them out. green goddess looked promising. we sat ourselves in the cozy main dining area and water was served almost immediately. for an appetizer, i had the sweet potato biscuit and it was delicious. almost as good as the ones they have at gw fins, but a little spicier.
my condensed milk coffee came without a vietnamese press (not as advertised). it was also puzzling why another black coffee came in a plastic cup accompanied by an empty coffee cup. i ordered the lobster mushroom and truffle frittata. the side salad dressing was good. unfortunately, the over salted dish made it quite inedible.
for the amount of food, the prices are a little high. my friends and i stopped at another restaurant after this because some of us were still hungry.
