what a shame! restaurant withgoodfood but with horrible service. it begin with just trying to add your name to the list. we waited 45 minutes. and it would not have been a big deal if they were organized and actually sat people in the order they came. food was tasty but service at the table was horrible as well. as soon as we sat we were delivered soap grease water that tasted terrible. it took 45 minutes to get our food when we ordered an appetizer, salad and sandwich! we will not be back!

take the magic carpet ride. what was very appealing abou the green goddess is that not only did it have a fancy grilled cheese sandwich for $4 - 5 on beer bread, the dishes were varied from common, inexpensive, goodfood, to unique, international, one of a kind dishes. we were fortunate enough to have chef chris debarr wait on our table. he was an expert in wine pairings, describing the history behind certain dishes, and just had a great attitude. lots of drinks to choose from, the dishes change out seasonally.

fleshitarian. this menu is the farthest thing from vegetarian. even the vegetable sides are cooked in duck fat and with crab. the idea that this restaurant is continually recommended by people in this city to vegans and vegetarians is frustrating. the inclusion of a juice bar does not satisfy my need for agooddinner.

went here around 2:30-3:00 pm on a sunday. there was a short ~10 minute wait to be seated, which leads me to believe that during the main meal times there is a significant wait. i assume it has indoor tables, but we were seated outside, which was fine because we were hungry and the weather was tolerable.

i ordered rose lemonade and the breakfast plate, which had sweet potato biscuits with boudin patties, truffle grits, and crab boil poached eggs. i really enjoyed the truffle grits and thought they had a great flavor. however, i can eat grits plain, and my father said he didn't notice much flavor when he tried them, so take that how you will. i did not notice much flavor difference in the crab boil poached eggs from regular poached eggs, but they were still good. the sweet potato biscuits with boudin we're just a touch disappointing. they were still good, but i expected them to be better. nothing about the biscuit's flavor said "sweet potato" to me, and combined with the boudin, it made for a mouthful that would've really benefited from some sort of condiment.

the rose lemonade was weird, like drinking perfume. i guess i should've expected that. it wasn't bad, but i wouldn't order it again.

my father ordered the duck sausage po-boy. i got to taste a piece of the sausage and couldn't tell the difference from regular sausage. my father didn't rave about the po-boy, but he also didn't rant about it. considering he's new orleans born and raised, with very specific ideas about po-boys, that's probably the best outcome one could expect for a restaurant like this.

for being in the french quarter, it's reasonably priced. new orleans is short on places where you can take vegetarians/vegans, especially if they want to eat more than salad and you still want meat, so this is agoodoption to keep in mind.

green goddess is my favorite restaurant in new orleans, and i recommend it highly to anyone who lovesgoodfood and has an open mind. i ask for the open mind because gg is not a traditional restaurant. it doesn’t follow rules or fit in boxes. i can’t tell you what kind of food it serves, other than that it tastes great. the ambience can be described as awesome. helpful, no?

mixed feelings. portions are a bit pricy for small plates, which were 13-20 each. probably needed 3 to make a meal for two of us. drinks were outstanding. waitstaff was varied and knowledgeable. we came in the winter, but it seems like a great place to sit outside and have a long meal with a couple of unique cocktails. multiple vegetarian friendly options.
cons: value
pros: delicious, innovative, vegetarian friendly, gooddrinks and wine list

different, amazing,. i love this place. it has different food that i have not experienced at any other restaurant ever. i also like that it has alot of vegetarian options that arent just a basic salad, that took actual creativity and skill to make... and it has meat-centered options for those carnivorous folks.

you have to understand what you are getting into when you go to green goddess. im not trying to be a food snot here, but its not a friggin' chilis. its a awesome atmosphere, laid back, staffed by knowledgeable people and the chefs love and know food. they dont serve you something they arent passionate about. so dont expect to go there and get a cheeseburger and dont go there if you are looking for basic staples. the way the menu is set up, you are supposed to try a few dishes and share them with dinner friend. thats the best way to experience this place. get a few different tastes and plates and such. yeah, its not the cheapest way to dine, but its worth the money you pay, . you are paying for ingredients that are hard to get and not found everywhere. its also not a meant to be a quick bite. sit back, relax, and enjoy a bottle of wine

speaking of that, you can get really reallygoodwine for very decent fancyish restaurant wine prices. we got a bottle for $32 that was amazing.

in short, im sorry if this sounded stuck up, but go there. its good. its very different.

highly overrated. why is this place gettinggoodreviews? i am in no several times a year and enjoy finding new restaurants. i'm vegan and was excited to try green goddess because it had several recommendations from the vege/vegan community. despite the restaurant being busy, my boyfriend and i got a table outside right away. my omnivore boyfriend is always a little reluctant when i take him somewhere that is billed as vegan friendly because he's worried he won't find something he likes; however, he expressed his delight at the menu, pork belly in particular.
our waitress arrived at the table after approx. 6 minutes. she dropped off two waters and announced that she was going to go "visit with" another table and would be back after giving us some more time. she wandered off to refill two other tables' water glasses and bring a third table a round of wine. still we sat not even having given a drink order. after 5 minutes, she returned and asked if we needed more time.
we ordered a covington strawberry (covington's almost perfect answer to the limited abita strawberry ale) and a glass of rose. she returned with his beer in a bottle with no option of glass and my empty wine glass. another minute and she returned with a carafe of rose which she poured from a height that splashed rose on my arms. after pouring the rose, she placed the empty carafe on the table and walked off. maybe it was her first serving job -- an unavoidable but difficult to accept reality in a city renowned for its service and dining experiences -- but the inefficiencies and inattention to detail were astounding.
i'll move on to the food. we ordered the muhammara, a dip of blended red peppers, walnuts, and pomegranate molasses -- as an appetizer. it was completely unremarkable. vegans -- you know those occasions when you don't have the time to devote to preparing something great so you just grab the hummus and a handful of veggies our of your 'fridge to tide yourself over? that's the muhammara, for $11.
we ordered the tumblin' dice cubed watermelon and tuna and savory lentil pancake for dinner. the watermelon was flavorful but seared tuna way overcooked. the portion was what one would expect for tapas style dining but it was $15. the lentil pancake was abhorrent. the only flavor in the dish came from what was supposed to be chutney, though it did not resemble any chutney with which i am familiar. it had a burned licorice flavor that i just couldn't get past. i took two bites before passing it off to my boyfriend who took two bites and threw in the towel.
the check was quick to come, wet. we paid quickly and received our credit slip back, wet. we packed it up and headed down decatur in search of something that more resembled service with a smile and an edible dish.
i can't understand why this place gets as manygoodreviews as it does. the staff seems on the neurotic side. the price to quantity and quality ratio is off. in a city with such amazing dining available, how is this restaurant still around?

good unless you are hungry. while everything i have tried on the menu is tasty and the drinks are new and exciting, you could easily spend $20-25 here and feel like all you have had to eat is an appetizer. it is a fun place to try and agoodplace to bring a date, but i don't expect to see many repeat customers otherwise.

this place is quirky, inventive, & great! first off, stop calling it "vegetarian" because it's not. it's a place for people who enjoygoodfood & decor that's not the same bland generic stuff designed to cater to the tasteless masses. the portions are decent but not huge, take it home & eat it for 2 meals dishes you find at chain & family style restaurants. however, they are large enough for people who know how to dine properly & want to enjoy an appetizer or a dessert with their meal. the bacon sundae fulfilled my dessert dreams & the manchego grits & sweet potato biscuits are divine. i'll definitely start frequenting this place!
