'the' place when it comes to picking up birthday celebration cakes. i've had about 20-25 cakes from here so far and every time the taste has stayed fresh and consistent.

my favourites here are the fresh fruit cake and obviously the gateau black forest cake.

staff members are always friendly and the pricing is decent considering the quality of their offerings.

they are doing a great job so two thumbs up for the gateau house. 👍🏼👍🏼

the gateau house is where i always go for good-looking & delicious cakes. today i just went for coffee, and i was absolutely disappointed. i ordered a flat white and an iced latte. flat white tasted like burned coffee. also, i would rather grab a coffee milk from grocery store than paying $4+ for a latte at the gateau house.. from now on i will only buy cakes from this place

the kumura fresh cream cake was awesome. a really good finisher after a good meal. light and fluffy but enough kumura to mellow everything out. probably one of my go to purchases at this store.

i came here yesterday and despite visiting the gateau house many times before i've never actually eaten there. i've only been to the city one once before, i usually go to the newmarket one to buy cake for my friend's birthdays (the newmarket staff are really lovely).

the city staff are really friendly and acknowledge you as soon as you come and see if you want any help. they don't hover over you as you look either which is really nice because you don't feel pressured or uneasy by their presence. once you're ready to order they're really friendly and helpful. we weren't sure on a few things and the guy who was serving us was really helpful and have good recommendations which ended up suiting us perfectly. i ordered a green tea and sesame (i forgot what it was called... a gateaux??) as well as an iced green tea with fruity hints! they were really good and i enjoyed them a lot. the interior is really nice and good for coffee and catch ups. the decor creates a comfortable vibe which adds to the experience. i'll definitely be coming back sometime soon to talk and catch up with friends!

i visit the queen street branch every month or so i seem to be frequently returning for either a slice of the black forrest gateau or the tiramisu cake and every know and then i like to devour a box of their delightful mini eclairs that are filled with custard.

excellent service! cakes and coffee were also great but the services received were amazing. good job guys! hugely recommend this place :)

i'm trying to cut back my morning coffee habit. usually it's flat whites to take away on my way to work. black coffees on weekends. on a normal day, i'd only have one coffee max, preferring green teas in the afternoon. . you see, i'm not a big coffee drinker. the biggest reason for cutting down on coffee is the cost. they add up so much to your food bill!

absolutely amazing. the cakes are delicious and the new desserts they have at the city store along with the revamp of the store means 5/5. i can't even choose a favourite because they are all so good

grabbed a green tea latte from gateau house this morning. was going to settle for a starbucks (which is usually average) but decided to give these guys a shot, and glad i did.

already sign of a winner when i noticed they used monin syrups (quality stuff in the coffee industry). the latte was a little too sweet for my palate, but overall quite satisfying for the cold day. i might just ask for less syrup next time as this one seems stronger than using matcha powder. well priced at $4.50.

service was polite and fast, got it to takeaway, but the interior of the store is lovely. will be coming back for a sit down in the big courtyard down the back. 

have tried the cakes before as well, all very light and fluffy (not my style, i prefer dense, rich cakes), but everything looks very pretty and well presented.

really admirably designed with an efficient look that matches with their products. inside there are collections of desserts behind glass and they all appear well-made with beautiful designs. there were many amazing cakes too that looked professionally made. their takeaway options are neat depending on what you buy. the staff place them in sweet boxes with handles and it looks like a gift. i was happy the staff were good to converse with when i ordered one of their cup mousses for $8.50. it was very sweet! mine had a cream-like topping which tasted cheesy. the mousse was very sweetly concentrated and strong in flavour for my tastebuds. i couldn’t finish it in one go.

i like the way they make their products and one day i will definitely be visiting again.

top quality ! if you are after great food, coffee, service, atmosphere, this place is for you. friendly staff and great service :) the barista on in the mornings is fantastic ~ they also have great cakes for special occasions, i never go anywhere else ! 5 out of 5

the cakes are really good, light and fluffy. although i have tasted better cakes that are also more affordable. also, cakes that contain fruits tend to be overly sour (e.g. passionfruit cake). portion size too little for me as i love my sweets.

gateau house not only has cakes but since they moved to a new location (two stores up the street-the old brooklyn bar) they have expanded and have lots of seating (more like a cafe now). i love the flash modern interior and the nice courtyard at the back! which is a bit too chilly for winter but in summer its beautiful. they have amazing coffee so i enjoy going back for dessert or coffee time with friends or family. must try their banana latte! very funky

got taken here for a surprise birthday treat and had the best cake of my life! we got a tiramisu and it was amazing. will definitely be back after date night at the movies!
