great breakfast and smoothies!. was looking for the best breakfast place in boston during my visit (had tried the deluxe town diner), and i made an excellent choice! got in with a friend at around 9am on a saturday, the place was half full. we each started off with their fresh fruit smoothies, raspberry and strawberry respectively, which were refreshing and actually had real fruit in them. i ordered the sklarmaggeddon an omelette with fresh walnuts, bacon, sausage, ham and i think mushrooms? served with homefries and your selection of homemade toast - i opted for the special toast of the day, brocolli and cheese. the omelette was loaded with the perfect combination of ingredients - i thought i could finish it but it was too much! homefries were standard, but the toast was really spectacular. you could tell it was fresh from the oven, very soft and chewy. my friend had the costa rican, which appeared to be a version of huevos rancheros, and had eggs with salsa, sour cream, bean and guacamole? also served with homefries and your choice of toast. she opted for the cinnamon raisin. she was also wowed by everything - i usually don't like cinnamon raisin toast, but i tried some of hers and it was reallygoodas well. by the time we were finished (around 10am), the place was packed with a line out the door. i can definitely see why as it's a hidden gem that serves stellar breakfast food. i can see why it won breakfast place of the year. the decor was also super funky like an old school diner that was renovated and the service was also very attentive and friendly. the only downside is that it's hard to find (in the corner of plaza at 1 kendall square). also it doesn't seem to be very wheelchair friendly (i had a large luggage which i had to lift up about 15 stairs as i didn't see a ramp).
