the friendly toast

some people rate the friendly toast as one of the best breakfasts in the entire country. in the heart of the university suburb, it’s a quirky and eclectic diner. the friendly staff are as graffiti-ed and interesting as the walls and they quickly provided me with some excellent french toast with fruit.

a favorite of university of new hampshire students for the past fifteen years, the arrival of the friendly toast in boston means simply that breakfast has arrived.

the food was good and the ambience was really fun. the tater tots,chicken and waffles are to die for. but if i could change one thing i would put some salt on the avocado burger

first of all i'd like to point out that this was just such a cute place and the pictures i took today don't do it enough justice. if you're looking for a great breakfast place in boston, this is it!

for drinks, we ordered a back bay breeze, a vanilla frappe and a black coffee. all the three were pretty standard and good, especially the frappe which was served in a chilled metal glass - perfect to beat the outside heat!

for breakfast, we ordered a mexican mash meal with buttered white bread on the side. i'd have to say that this is the first time i've properly had chorizos and i'd say they were absolutely delicious. so was everything else, especially the eggs as one bite got the perfectly prepared yolk oozing out. the meal really isn't very spicy so don't get too worried. we also ordered the huevos rancheros and i have to say that their home fries was the best part about them. the portions are pretty huge so you'd have to go really hungry. overall, everything was so delicious and i'd definitely go back for more!

we headed over to the friendly toast at the crack of dawn (ok, 8am) to try and beat the rush. while we were seated right away, the place filled up by about 8:30am. our server was awesome, really on top of everything. our food came out quickly and he made sure that we had everything we needed. the restaurant is located in kendall square, in good company with bon me and state park. the decor is kitschy and sure to spark some good conversation (think your great aunt suzie’s place). there’s a serious hipster vibe here (don’t forget your skinny jeans).

the funky vibe so evident in the original restaurant is replicated in cambridge, although the haphazard decor in the portsmouth location seems more planned or contrived here. tacky decor aside, our food was delicious...

i went to the friendly toast in kendall square (cambridge) last week for my co-workers birthday. she is also gluten free and i am so glad she introduced me to this place!! before this, i hadn’t ordered pancakes in a restaurant since 2008! i was really happy seeing that they offer gluten free pancakes. they have all kinds of delectable gluten free pancakes – blueberry, chocolate chip, m&m, toffee crumble, coconut with cashews, chocolate chips and drizzled with coconut sauce (my mouth is drooling just typing that!). i ordered one pancake, and it was huge; it was the size of my plate! it was so fluffy and delicious! i didn’t want to stop eating because it was just that good, but i was so stuffed and i only got ¾ through the entire thing. breakfast is served all day, which means you can have pancakes for lunch or dinner! most of the egg dishes are gluten free, as are many of the sides; we had homefries. homefries are one of my favorite breakfast items but i did not like the

loved this place decor was eclectic and service was fast and friendly. food was delicious. .going w 2children mind u.... great filling portions tasted homemade. iwill ddefinitely bring my family again soon!

i ordered the herb omelet and it was great. creative combination of ingredients: brie, basil, cilantro, grilled golden peppers and cashews. it worked for me. paired with potatoes an cinnamon raisin toast. excellent and you can't finish the huge portion.

dont call it friendly toast call it burnt toast. there is no french in the french toast all it is is burnt cooked bread. the pancakes are great as well as the mojito milkshake.

über retro. this is an experience not to miss!! über retro-kitch that will keep you entertained! the food is good too :) the eccentric servers add to the ambiance...thank god for cambridge ma!
