not good. don't go. got a club that was supposed to be 'piled high'-what a joke. it was like some fingerfood appetizer pressed little, let me emphasize little, sandwich. everythings overpriced. fish of the day was tilapia. enough said. any decent fish was an extra 5. this is the fish house right? farm raised chinese freshwater fish. wow. fried green tomatoe was best thing we had. cheesecake was near frozen sysco crap. solid artificial chocolate flavor. horrible. save your money. can't believe a restaurant on pensacola bay is even serving tilapia. was good like 5 years ago. oh my wife got the chicken sandwich and we had to send it back. dry rubbery tasteless joke of a sandwich. will never gobackand i'm a native

i wish i had read the reviews before i ate here, but i didn't feel the need to since i thought this was an inexpensive version of the fish house encore, which i love. i had the 'fish n chips basket', the fish was very overcooked and the breading was very bland. i actually would have sent itbackif i wasn't so hungry. i kept looking at the fish while eating it because it had the texture of chicken and i thought they mistakenly gave me chicken! i won't be back, should have gone to hobos where it's about $5 cheaper for the same thing but they give you more too and it's much better tasting. i think this place could use a deep cleaning.

this is my second visit to the fish house. in my opinion it's not as good as the grand marlin or hemingway's, but it is a good place to eat when you stay at a hotel in town and don't want to gobackto the island on your way out. i like the rustic fishing camp look, but the restaurant is confusing and pieced together. the outdoor seating looks nice. we sat inside since it was a little warm. my kids liked the fish tanks indoors anyway. i had the fish tacos and they were very tasty. my older son had the kids macaroni and cheese and it was really good (i tasted it)! my youngest had the grilled fish with fries. the fish was bland, which is probably better for most kids, but my kids are half (india) indian and raised in louisiana, so it didn't do much for them flavor-wise. we also had the crab cakes appetizer and it was great. the cakes were a little salty for me but the candied roasted pecans that accompanied them really balanced that out and the dish was great overall. we will return during a future trip if we stay off the beach. the service was excellent. oh, i forgot to say that while there is no drink menu, i asked my server if the bartender could make me something blue an tropical. i saw him talking with the bartender and apparently discussing options. he camebackwith a tall, blue drink that was delicious! it had blue rum, pineapple juice, and other stuff, but i'm not sure what. i really enjoyed it (i also posted a pic of it).

very fast. ambience is, well let’s call it rustic. like an old florida place on the side of the road in the keys rustic unpretentious. the blackened dolphin sandwich (not the mammal porpoise, but what has now succumbed to being called “mahi mahi”) was cooked perfectly. a great variety of seafood on the menu as you would expect based on the name. i would gobackagain.

the wait to sit inside was an hour to two hours so our party had to sit outside. it was hot and humid.. almost unbearable but the fans they had outside worked just perfectly. plus, if you ordered the mimosas and drinks that definitely would cool anyone off in a matter of minutes. the prices were usually between 11-20 and the sushi was like 7-10. prices weren't bad, i ordered a salad for $15 and was delighted, the drink i got was $9 and i had $5 mimosas which ran my total to $36. crazy? maybe so, especially for a college student. in the end, it was worth it since i left satisfied and content. will definitely bebackin the future!

we were guided here by a local who was looking to impress the visiting crew from corporate who were my liaisons during the job. ended up being a party of eight, some picky eaters in the bunch, too...... why tag along to a seafood place if you don't eat seafood?! but the boss lady insisted and everyone tagged along...i was prepared for the worst..... ended up liking the menu and felt we got a great value. the head of the table ordered plenty of appetizers from grouper bites (great!) to the sushi (ok) to spring rolls(odd sauce, but tasty) and then we ordered huge platters, several cocktails were had as well. the signature dish of shrimp and grits "a ya ya" was pretty good but my seafood platter was the best of what i tried-and i got to try everything around the table, since portions were humongous. i was able to substitute snapper (grilled) for tilapia (really?tilapia? good grief) and it was excellent . i also got as much of the platter grilled as i could, but the massive oysters were fried... and we're very flavorful considering how bland the raw ones have been in pensacola so far. i ate way too much, finishing this platter....come hungry, or be warned. turns out this place met its reputation.... i liked it for what it was. there were a few marks against them, though..... the deck was covered in flies....and the fans didn't help. i spent too much time shooing flies than i wanted.... and there was some confusion when a runner delivered a plate to our table when no other food was present-clearly a mistake-and a waiter passing by recognized it as his missing entree.... not a big deal, but shows some poor training or lazy waitstaff... was quickly handled, but could have been easily avoided. looking for a casual, delicious, traditional seafood house? you'll
do no better than here (despite some poor reviewers experiences) and while 385.00 for eight might seem a little high, we did dent the bar and appetizers menus pretty hard before the meal....,i think we did alright..... would come again, when i'mbackaround these parts!

it had been a while since me & the hubby got to go out to dinner by ourselves so we choose the fish house (was last there about 2 yrs ago) to start off we had to wait 15 mins (not a big deal) but when we were seated there was only 3 tables occupied (why the wait???) when i didn't like the table the hostess gave us (samantha?) she kind of got a little snippy (i didn't want to be sandwiched between 2 tables of a 4 top) well the waitress (shanna) was great but the food was bleh!! i got the parmesan crusted fish, which had no flavor. my husband got the fried oysters and if wasn't for the crust there wouldn't of been anything to eat. the oysters were tiny & really dark colored. all in all i would not gobackto this place. if you want some good seafood go to chet's in pace.

stopped off on the drive down to key west. the place was very busy, but was turning the tables over petty quickly. we ordered the cracked conch to start with which was pretty bland - more crumb than conch and over cooked. i ordered the groper sandwich which wasn't cheap. it was a over cooked and could have been any fish. in and out in half an hour andbackon the road. wouldn't stop there again.

generally love the place, but last month had cold entree and side. ordered the fish enchiladas wth rice. both were cold. we waited a little while to get the food (enough time for two beers for hubby and two martinis for me, while jsut chilling) so i didnt even say anything to the server until i asked for a to-go box, then i said it was cold when i got it (enchiladas had sat out before i got them, i knew this because the ends were hard/stale and cold, and everything inside was cold, the rice had been out so long it was cold and crunch-i did not take the rice home it was gross) he said "oh, ok" huh? not, "im sorry"? or "would you ilike something else?" hmm. well we like the jinja roll (sushi) and ahi tuna, so maybe i should stick to that and not hot entrees.

we do like this place a lot, so we will go back. but next time i will send the foodbackand order something else

over priced, over cooked, tasteless food. also, the only exit i saw was the front door. i didn't see abackdoor and there are no windows, at least in the main dining area. i was a little concerned for our safety.

dinner. took my wife for dinner. both had oyster plate. food was way over priced for what we got. oysters were mostly bread and no oysters. not even the slightest taste of oyster. portions were extremely small. will not bebackfor seconds. do not recommend. thanks.

one good experience and one bad one.. my wife and i have been here twice. the first time was horrible. second time was so-so. the first time we went for valentine's day. she got a mango tuna entree that was literally a tiny tuna steak sitting on top of an entire diced mango. there was some sort of sauce drizzled on top. and that was the entire entree. i ordered a chicken breast with green beans. it was nice. the green beans were my favorite part. so, for valentine's day they were offering a special dessert! it was only $7. it came to the table and here is what we see on the plate: a ramekin full of what appeared to be melted chocolate ice cream and three quarter-sized (as in the coin) cupcakes of various colors. we thought it was a bit odd, but decided to go ahead and eat it. the ramekin did indeed have melted chocolate ice cream in it... i don't know if this was what they intended. the "cupcakes" were dry. and did i mention they were about as big around as a quarter? we were extremely disappointed, but we just paid and left. when we got in the car, i told her, "we should have called the waiter over and said, 'uhm, excuse me, waiter, what the f&*( is this?'"

we wentbackover a year later and had a much better experience. it wasn't for a special occasion, and we didn't order dessert. i had the shrimp and grits, which was mostly grits. she had an enormous chicken and pecan salad. it was comically large, but tasty. we also had sushi, which was actually quite good.
