great meal on the water. we ordered oysters for an appetizer although not on the menu, our server was so awesome she arranged for them to be ordered from next door! they were really good! i ordered grouper blackened and it was on point, very good! the sides on the other hand i thought could have been a little better, i got the mashed potatoes and gouda cheese grits. neither one of the sides had a ton of flavor and were not super hot. most importantly the grouper was piping hot and delicious, i will give them a break on the sides... i would go back.

amazing service and probably the best fish fry i've ever had! my wide and i were camping at the john pennenkamp park next door and decided to go for a valentines supper out. service was super attentive and place was obviously a fav for locals, which in itself says it all!

we didn't order anything we didn't love. smoked fish dip was excellent. new england clam chowder was perfect. i had the fried combo, delicious. the wife loved the crab cakes. for dessert the key lime pie exquisite! highly recommend and we'll be back!

this place is terrific! it was jammed when we went on new years day, but the place was so efficient and friendly that you hardly knew. the fish portions were huge and delicious.

menu looked promising, but the actual food was a big disappointment. didn't look or taste like fresh seafood. was more like the stuff you would expect from a big chain restaurant. our server was inattentive and snooty. rather than an upscale family restaurant, it comes across as more of a yuppie bar with barely mediocre food and poor service.

great food & great service: a winning combination. we tried the fish house for the first time last night. each of our three meals were cooked perfectly, the service was great and the bar/restaurant provides a great atmosphere. we had a very enjoyable meal and evening. thanks!

awesome!!. love this key largo instituition that has that mom&pop feel. excellent food ... we had the grouper "bake & stuffed" and the large stone crabs. one of the best meals ever! very friendly, helpful staff. will most definitely dine there again when we visit key largo again.

too commercialized. the fish house is way too commercialized. its one of those places that may have been good once upon a time, but now its so ritzy and big-headed, that it sucks. this is not pensacola. its a place for rich people to go and talk about stuff that no one cares about. and overpriced. my god.

i would fish for another restaurant!. while the service is excellent the food leaves a lot to be desired. we tried this place upon a recommendation from a friend. the fish was extremely bland, a fish sandwich with no bread--i'm sorry i thought sandwich meant it was on bread.

my wife got another piece of fish which was also tasteless. salads are an upcharge. the only saving grace was that the key lime pie was good. in short, a big disappointment, sundowners just further up on route 1 is much better in our view for about the same price. i would fish elsewhere for another restaurant.

took my wife and daughter their for our anniversary. i havent been in years the food was terrible best dish was my three year olds french fries want be back.

the famous burger. i'll preface these comments with the fact that i love the fish house and it's staff. they make a lot of great things. i should be asking myself why write a critical review of a burger at a popular seafood restauarant?

my only excuse is that it was the champion burger of the 2009 northwest florida burger tour, and this year it is currently number four. it didn't impress me a lot a couple of years back, but it was time for another try. the burger was well done when ordered mid rare. it was also lacking in any real seasoning. the voice in my head is yelling "dummy" for trying it again, but i had to see what all of the fuss was about. there are a lot of great items on the menu, but no more burgers for this kid.

favorite fish. i have eaten at hundreds of fish houses, this is my favorite. unbelievable happy hour, drinks cheap, food cheap, and quality high. service is adequate, view is great (off the pier,) and my favorite key west restaurant. clams and oysters are the best!

we had a nice dinner outside on the deck @ atlas, which is part of fish house. (it has a more extensive menu.) we had the volcano chicken & beef chipotle soup for apps. they were good. entrees were the pork ribeyes. all the food was above average, but not excellent. the quality of the meat was not prime, as i could taste the animal had been enhanced with hormones/antibiotics which gives meat that slightly rotted chemical taste that is often found in cheaper 3-4 star establishments. overall it was a nice ambiance which made up for the above average food. probably won't come back, as i prefer a higher quality meal. it was ok for a one time thing.
