don't waste your money. hot food was cold and cold food was frozen. service sucked even worse than the food. you know its bad when a stop for fast food on the way home is tempting.

fish house outstanding. we travel down thru the keys every year on our break from the winter blues.
no trip is ever complete without our stop at the fish house resturant. the conch fritters and ceviche are outstanding. the grouper montecumbe is our favorite dinner. key lime pie is always a must to complete the experience .
yes the meals are expensive but worth the price for the quality of food that is served there. we have never in 20 + years had a bad meal and can't wait to return in 2014.

much improved. service starts at the hostess stand greeters this was a big sore point as the young ladys previously were quite confused and not in attendance. one this business dinner visit, a manager was on hand with the hostess to properly sit patrons. this manager also visited our table later to check on our food and service. the waiter was very good and the food was excellant. i expecially like the appetisers. i have a steak that was cooked very well, my date had mahi that was very good.
i hope the fish house understands first impressions makes a big difference and keeps a mature manager out front to manage hostess staff. without leadership, it seems to be managed by children.

place to be seen, not eat... if this place doesnt get its act together, it will fail in spite of the owners. tourist may be fooled, but locals hold sway to the success of any eatery, and more and more locals are turning away from this place due to poor quality and poor service.
i knew it was a downhill nite when the young lady handed me a guiness draft... "in a plastic cup". this is a blunder that beer afficianodoes do not forgive, and a sure sign management is inept. no other place on earth would do this. ok ...these folks serve grits...grits..kinda like cornmeal...its grits people...not caviar, not sushi, not steaks..its grits..2cents cost per serving...toss a couple of shrimp on top, charge 11.99...i ordered the club sandwich, tasted fine, but was not like anything called a club sandwich sold elsewhere, and it was very small, more like an appetizer than a meal. i would comment on the service, but there was none..hostess ignored us for 30 minutes, then said our waiter was sent to do a private room...then...well that was it. why doesnt fish house / jackson owners insist managers read reviews?

what you read on the menu may not be what you get. the grits were instant with missing ingredients and too much cheese, the moma salad's caramelized pears were canned...etc...

we were hungry for seafood.... so the key largo apartment we stayed in recommended this place in their welcome binder. although, they said it was more affordable than encore, it was still our most expensive meal at the keys. i got the snapper hemingway - could have used a little more flavor in the sauce, but it was pretty good nonetheless. husband ordered mahi mahi with a buffalo sauce which was to die for. we tried the conch fritters for the first time and they were a fun treat. we took some key lime pie home to eat at sunset and that was day-yum fine. the atmosphere was fun with all of the different lighting and our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable.

so disappointed! this place used to be good. now it's rush em in and out; a bit overpriced; and not the quality to match.
uneventful food; dried out florida lobster; mushy boiled potatoes. nothing had any seasoning or flavor -- bland bland. off the list....

altho they didn't have my former 2 favorites dishes listed on the menu any longer (gazpacho with shrimp or conch salad), the grouper ceviche was wonderful with an added squeeze of lime. conch chowder was meaty but flat tasting -- ask for some hot sauce to bring it up a notch. lunch grouper catch of the day plate was good: fried with french fries but the portion was small for the price. overall you'll either have a decent meal or a great one depending on what you order.

we could eat here everyday! had a 2 pound whole fried yellowtail snapper.so fresh! so perfect with a squeeze of lime. came with corn red bliss potatoes and coleslaw.also love their grouper ceviche and shrimp gazpacho -- so refreshing on hot day. came back for conch salad for lunch. marinated until tender..oh yeah authentic key lime with meringue -- find the room. it's worth it.

not too shabby. we went here in feb. 2013. we chose this restaurant for our first night out on our weekend vacation because it was rated well on urbanspoon and it was right next to our rental house location.
it turned out to be great food and atmosphere. we had 7 in our group and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered except me. i got the seafood pot pie and it wasn't as good as i'd hoped. but really i was mostly jealous of the other's entrees. their fish looked really good and the seafood pasta also, lots of food, with alot of seafood in it.
they are kinda pricey, 26.00 or so for an entree, and about 7.00 for a mixed drink and 3.75 for a bottle of domestic beer, but hey, they apparently aren't overpriced for what they have there, because there were alot of people waiting to get in, etc.
would definitely come back here again.
