your new favorite cafe!
product: we were very excited to try the fat seed cafe especially after seeing that they also offer chicken and ube waffles. plus, who isn't up for breakfast food? as ron swanson said, "why does anyone in the world eat anything but breakfast food?" and i seriously want that to be my mantra in life. this is probably why breakfast and brunch cafes are such a hit. and when the food is this good, you'd find yourself some regular customers for sure.
first up, buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffle in salted egg sauce (php 325.00): the chicken was very big. they used red meat so with that serving size, it has almost the same portion size as a 2-piece chicken meal. it's perfectly seasoned and it's also cooked properly making it crunchy and juicy. the ube waffle definitely tasted like ube. it wasn't as sweet as i expected but the fact that the ube taste was there, it already passed my expectations. it was also very fluffy and easy to slice. my only suggestions is that they should add more syrup because something that fluffy requires a lot of sweetness on it.
mushroom fritters (php 175.00): were basically deep fried mushroom bits. it was a perfect alternative to fries. if you're looking for something new to try but you're craving for those fried potatoes, try this tastier substitute. you won't be disappointed.
hotate soy cream pasta (php 385.00): is the must order for those who craves for pasta. if you love japanese food and japanese mayo, you will absolutely love this one. i don't think i've ever had a dish where the sauce of the pasta is actually japanese mayo, and you all know how good their mayo is. along with the nori, bonito flakes, and other ingredients.. this will surely capture the love of your taste buds.
the fat seed benedict with homemade maple bacon slab (php 295.00): is a very satisfying meal for breakfast and brunch lovers. if your go-to order is something with eggs benedict, you're sure to love this one. there is a thick slice of bacon in the middle which stays true to its long title.
their milkshakes are very thick too. i think they use the "thick" version of a well-known ice cream brand in the ph.
venue: the fat seed cafe + roastery is on the ground floor located beside healthy options. if you know uptc well, this will be easy to find but if not, just ask around you'll find it eventually. the place isn't that big but it looks very cozy. there's a coffee bar for people who are eating alone or prefer high chairs. there are also outlets near every table so if you want to study or work, this is a perfect place for you to dine in at.
