one of my favorite eats in qc! staff and place are very welcoming and friendly. their coffee is top notch amazing featuring different local and imported variety of beans.foodis also very good! i recommend the mushroom fritters for appetizers, easy to munch on. i also always order the sonoma salad, right mix of everything plus it’s healthy. for pasta i love hotate soy cream w/ a bit of scallop, it has a strong unique flavor. i also got to try their roasted vegetable sandwich, i loved it so cheesy. their mains we love their signature porkchop dish (you can get it with rice instead of sweet potato) and wagyu pares so cool served in a tiffin. all in all it’s a happy experience every time i go there.

ambience and service are warm and welcoming, making it one of my favorite nooks in up town center. the cozy industrial feel is infused with warm lighting, making it a relaxing respite after a day of shopping.

the chili garlic bacon pasta was mildly spicy. flavourful, but the pasta was slightly undercooked. served with egg, which i loved as it's a counterpoint to the spicy oil base.

sipping iced tea with this made it an 'ahhhh' moment as it added to my joyous reverie of comfortfood+ sweet cold drink. i love such moments.

the menu doesnt boast much desserts, but there is french toast as an all day breakfast option. dare i say orgasmic? surprisingly not too sweet but a perfect pick-me-up for a dreary mood. perfect balance of nutella, rum syrup, cinnamon and cream. hallelujah. i'll be back for more.

let me start by stating what’s perfectly obvious for me and my gf (and i know a lot of people will agree): the fat seed is the best restaurant in up town center.

food: though we first discovered tfs because we wanted to try their coffee, it’s theirfoodthat really made us return time and time again. i highly recommend their hotate soy cream pasta and cacio e pepe, two of the best from theirfoodmenu. i would also recommend their classic grilled cheese (one of the best i’ve had, with the parmesan crusted bread) and their burgers (try the one with ricotta and orange marmalade; unique and refreshing!)

drink: my gf and i have this constantly changing ranking of the top 5 coffees in metro manila, and tfs is the only constant at 1 or 2. i always have their iced mocha, but the coffee cubes and their lattes are very good. for those who don’t drink coffee, i recommend their iced tea, mojito tea.

place / service: the resto has a very hipster, cool look fit for the younger crowd (esp the nearbh atenistas and maryknollers haha!). service is always top-notch, even amidst this pandemic and the place is always clean even their restroom.

i know uptc is a mall not frequented by a lot, but if you do get to visit and it’s your first time, go to the fat seed to have the most amazing time!

this time i got to try the fat seed café + roastery located at up town center. i liked the ambiance because it was relaxing, and the design of the café was pleasing to my eyes. the staff were also friendly and were very helpful in explaining the dishes and entertaining our needs.

here is the list of the menu we tried:

bacon truffle burger

crispy egg salad

red pesto seafood pasta

cheetos rings

portuguese seafood casserole

wings sampler

gaba chop chicken

triple decker grilled cheese

the fat seed café + roastery has definitely become one of my favorite cafés because the price of thefoodis reasonable for its taste. i recommend the portuguese seafood casserole, bacon truffle burger and gaba chop chicken.

if you are in the up town area, make sure to look for this hidden gem. to start off, i had high expectations of this place. it was packed even during the afternoon and thefoodcertainly did not disappoint! from their nice looking menu (that resembled a magazine), to thefoodand to the interiors, i was very impressed. thefoodwas very delicious. the generous serving of theirfoodis really a huge plus. anyways, words can't explain how this cafe really is. you just need to go there and experience it. we would definitely go back and try more of their stuff

i made a reservation on sunday night over the phone for dinner on monday night. the woman i spoke to confirmed my reservation for 7 people. when we arrived at the restaurant on monday night there was a reserved long table. i apologized to the staff for arriving a bit late and asked if our table was still available. i gave my name and they proceeded to seat us at the long table. i commented that the table was longer than necessary, because there were only 7 of us but the table could seat 12. we were seated for about 15 minutes, trying to decide on what to order, when the staff approached us and asked for my name. she said that the table was reserved for someone else, and that we did not have a reservation and asked if we minded moving. i asked where they were going to transfer us and they showed us a table for 6, with very small footstools for chairs. i was getting annoyed and said that we would not fit, especially because the table was inches away from the back door. my father in law requested for chairs with backrests, but they did not indulge us. we decided to leave the restaurant and transfer to another restaurant that would accommodate us better. it is unprofessional and bad dining protocol to ask a guest to move, especially if they have already begun to order. nofoodis worth that.

interiors are playful.foodis good for brunches. or if you have catch ups with friends, then any time of day is good to have a meal here.

my personal favorite is the buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffles. the hotate soy cream pasta is a close second. nakakaumay nga lang siya, but nothing like good old sharing of meals can't fix. 😋(aka feed to boyfriend so you can get his meal as well).

definitely a "for the gram" kinda place. i like their chill vibe and cafe interiors. theirfoodwas not only ig worthy, but pretty good as well. wished the ube waffle tasted more like ube, or they could put some ube jam on top maybe? also liked their spinach and shrooms. would come back to try some of their other food.

food was great. thefoodchoices were creative yet everything seemed so delicious still. ambiance is also good, it’s a bit distant from the busier areas of up town.

thefoodis good but on the pricey side. claims to have the best coffee in the area, but i somehow doubt it. not that it’s bad, but i don’t seem to have a memory of the experience, unlike some truly good experiences i’ve had elsewhere.
