ambience and service are warm and welcoming, making it one of my favorite nooks in up town center. the cozy industrial feel is infused with warm lighting, making it a relaxing respite after a day of shopping.

the chili garlicbaconpasta was mildly spicy. flavourful, but the pasta was slightly undercooked. served with egg, which i loved as it's a counterpoint to the spicy oil base.

sipping iced tea with this made it an 'ahhhh' moment as it added to my joyous reverie of comfort food + sweet cold drink. i love such moments.

the menu doesnt boast much desserts, but there is french toast as an all day breakfast option. dare i say orgasmic? surprisingly not too sweet but a perfect pick-me-up for a dreary mood. perfect balance of nutella, rum syrup, cinnamon and cream. hallelujah. i'll be back for more.

this time i got to try the fat seed café + roastery located at up town center. i liked the ambiance because it was relaxing, and the design of the café was pleasing to my eyes. the staff were also friendly and were very helpful in explaining the dishes and entertaining our needs.

here is the list of the menu we tried:

bacon truffle burger

crispy egg salad

red pesto seafood pasta

cheetos rings

portuguese seafood casserole

wings sampler

gaba chop chicken

triple decker grilled cheese

the fat seed café + roastery has definitely become one of my favorite cafés because the price of the food is reasonable for its taste. i recommend the portuguese seafood casserole, bacon truffle burger and gaba chop chicken.

this is my second review of fat seed. and for whatever’s its worth, the uptc café have gotten better.

our foodie group was invited to a night when fat seed introduced their new menu. personally, the first one was already impressive and i should say that the second one is even better.

anyway, we were first served drinks. concocted beverages like chocolate and strawberry shakes and the coffee cubes were served in unique containers. let’s me say that the chocolate shakes stood out.

for appetizers, the playful cheetos rings was the beautifully designed and strongly-flavored cheetos-covered onion rings with bleu cheese and sour cream. fantastic.

now we to the mains. the triple decker grilled cheese was, well, in compared to the other dish, was just passable. but it was thebacontruffle burger with truffle mushroom paste and crispybaconstrips was the stand out. the patty was genuinely beefy which was complimented by really crunchy bacon. another stand out was the slightly spicy wagyu beef and peppers pasta with red wine, garlic, red and green peppers and green chilis. perfectly seasoned.

and now, we come to the real stars in terms of presentation and flavors. i dish i loved the most was the seafood cauliflower rice. it’s was light yet filling. everything about it was “clean.” another was the portuguese seafood casserole. it’s a dish that’s a bit heavy to the tummy what with the shrimp, squid and kani, corn, béchamel sauce and true-blue white rice.

if only i could eat more i would have. but i didn’t because i know for a fact that fat seed will be for a long time. congratulations and keep it up.

nice ambiance. i had their fat seedbaconbenedict with homemadebaconslab. it was filling for a breakfast meal. the brioche though gets sloppy but overall it was good and yummy. good place to stay for meetings or doing work remotely. they have power outlets per table and offers free wifi. wide variety of options for coffee.

what we had:

buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffle
spinach and shrooms
hotate soy cream pasta
salted egg fried chicken
kimchi fried rice withbaconslab
coffee cubes

what we liked:
came all the way here for their coffee cubes, and while i was able to satisfy my craving, there was actually more to love in this place. the light ambiance and atmosphere makes dining a pleasure. the kimchi fried rice withbaconslab is a good combination of spicy and salty, and really goes well together. another favorite is the hotate soy cream pasta, putting a japanese twist on a western classic. i can say i enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. sometimes, ig- worthy restaurant food are just good to look at but in fat seed, the food surely tastes as good as it looks!

went back here thinking it’s still on zomato gold 1+1 on food (like the first time i’ve gone here), but not at all disappointed despite the promo lapsing ❤️

what we ordered:
buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffle in salted egg sauce (of course!)
grilled chicken caesar
truffle mac and cheetos
kale pesto pasta
fat seed benedict with homemade maplebaconslab
cappuccino
affogato

i really love their ube waffle so i made sure to order it again this time. i still love it though i’m thinking its magic already wore off on me (but don’t get me wrong! it is still good, i prolly just didn’t enjoy it as much as the first time).
what i loved the most this time though (and surprisingly) is the pesto. i love it! it was not too herb-y to the point that it is already bitter, but it was the right kind of tasty.
the service was also good. my companion ordered cappuccino but was served affogato instead. we took it anyway but after a while, the owner went to our table and apologized for serving an incorrect order and informed us she would take it out of the bill. we insisted on paying it anyway because i honestly loved the affogato lol! plus i love how the owner handled the situation. she was so friendly and apologetic (though none of us actually noticed we got a wrong order haha).

i’ll definitely go back to this place, now for more reasons: chicken, pesto and affogato

it can be a bit overwhelming to eat at the fat seed because so many of the items here are good, but after several trips over the last few months, i can finally make a list of recommendations: mango after dark (drink), wagyu pares, buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffle in salted egg sauce (pictured), hotate soy cream pasta, chili garlicbaconpasta, and kimchi fried rice with maplebaconslab!

buttermilk fried chicken with ube waffle and salted duck egg sauce (p325) - the boneless juicy thigh with the crispiest breading was a winner. the ube waffle was a bit too dense for me; maybe cause i like some fluffiness to my waffles.

kimchi fried rice with maplebaconslab (p315) - some kimchi fried rice can come off too pungent but this was cooked to perfection, and thebaconslap perfectly complemented it.

will come back to try the other dishes fo sure.

ever since i got a zomato gold membership, it has been automatic for me to check for partner restaurants before deciding where to eat. when i spotted the fat seed cafe + roastery in the food partners, i told hubby i wanted to go back there.

the chili garlicbaconpasta was super delicious. flavors were spot on. i could probably finish a whole order by myself. i just loved everything about it.

skip the spinach and 'shrooms. it was bland and just such a sad dish.

lovely plating for the fat seed signature porkchop. the pork chop was juicy and hearty. we didn't care much for the other stuff on the plate.

we availed of the 1+1 on food zomato gold privilege and paid for 2 dishes instead of 3.

will still go back to the fat seed for the chili garlicbaconpasta and the hotate soy cream pasta (loved this from our previous visit) with or without the zomato gold offer.

p.s. loved the overall feel of the place, photo book style menu and the colored wooden tabletops.

this is my favorite cafe. i could easily do work here, set meetings and be so sure that i won't get hungry nor thirsty. i frequent the place, and so far everything that i have tried tastes good. you'd see that the place is always full. despite it being full, it's such an accommodating cafe because the staff make a way for you to be seated.

(i do have some reservations with thebacon& egg sandwich... in the picture, baconwas mixed with the egg. wish they'd placed real bacon, notbaconbits, or just have abaconslab for fullbaconexperience. :d all in all, everything's good)

i recommend: hotate soy cream pasta, wagyu pares, chili garlicbaconpasta, kimchi fried rice with maplebaconslab

this place is amazing. the vibe of the place is very artsy. the food is very creative and comforting. i pretty much liked everything that i ordered. the standout dishes for me though was the ube waffle fried chicken and grilled pork chops. the ube waffle was nice and fluffy it had salted egg sauce andbaconmaple syrup. the pork chops was super tender and juicy it was served on a miso sweet potato mash❤️ it felt healthier than your standard potato. oh did i mention that they also served specialty coffee and it was pretty damn legit! truly love this place 5⭐️

i went here with my friend who’s on vacation from germany. she’s a vegan, but it’s very difficult to eat out in the philippines being a vegan, but she was happy that she could get something that’s okay for her. she got the hotate soy cream pasta and i got the chili garlicbaconpasta (i have a weakness for oil-based pasta). she found her pasta a bit to sweet, but we both already expected that. i liked my pasta, but it’s not the best oil-based pasta i’ve had. still, the service was great!

the fat seed cafe + roastery is a really nice place to go to in up town, and i'd argue one of the best there!

first of all, the interior is nice. it's got a lot of texture thanks to these wooden tables and the wall murals are really nice. it's very well-lighted and visually appealing. the vibe is very laid back. plus on some tables, there are wall-sockets nearby.

the food was good. we only had 2 dishes, one being great and the other so-so, but definitely not bad. the chicken and waffles were good. i love ube and these do taste like it (it isn't just plain purple waffles). not too strong but you know ube is there. for the chicken, it is a large serving. really crispy and well seasoned. pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed the fried chicken. it came with maplebaconsyrup, nothing out of the ordinary with thebacononly adding some texture. the supposed salted egg sauce tho tasted almost nothing like salted egg so that was a bit of a let down.

we also had the truffle mac & cheetos. this was the so-so part of our meal. the truffle essence is really there in the aroma and you can taste it, but it isn't as rich as i'd like it to be. the cheesiness isn't super good either. so the cheetos did help this dish's cause.

on our second visit we had the chicken and waffles which was a consistent dish and their truffle pasta. the pasta was good, cooked al dente. the flavors were nice and they allowed the truffle to pop. the serving size however is on the smaller side for the price.

the staff was friendly and accommodating. no problems there.

i also used this with zomato gold so big big advantage for me. i'll definitely be coming back here. (i did).

i wish i could give this a 4.25 but zomato won't let me rate in half point increments. it definitely isn't a 4 tho.

goodlooking and great food, great coffee. some of the dishes could be better executed. the soy hotate cream pasta was great but needs more cream because it was just too damn dry. for something al dente, it needs more sauce. it felt like eating dry pancit canton honestly (drier pa nga), but the flavors were bursting with umami goodness so you'll keep coming back for more. they should consider making it japanese soup pasta style and it will make the dish heaps better.

louisiana chicken wings were good, although it could be spicier. it was barely hot.

my friend's tartufo pasta was good. it's truffle oil obviously, and after a while can be nakakaumay.

the mushroom gruyere dip was really good but too dry.. medyo mahirap ispoon yung "dip" on the bread once the melted gruyere has been served on the table. i sense a recurring theme here. it's a small serving, i wish they had a larger version of this for bigger groups.

my friend'sbaconand egg sandwich was okay. bitin yungbaconbecause they used bits so it feels more like eating an egg and tomato sandwich. but the sandwich bread was bomb. since they used a thick slice of bread sana they just added a thick slab ofbaconinside and charged more for it.

overall great food and great coffee. i'd love to try the other appetizers next time.
