the best for 20 years. i built their last store next to the gate store. gate moved them into that space cause they were losing money. now they moved back farther down the road (one block more) but thedonutsare still the best in the world. nobody has anything on the donut shoppe donuts. i have been to the mecca of sweets veniero's in nyc. they are good but they can't makedonutslike thedonutsshoppe. period

the best ever. now i have enjoyed theses doughnuts for years. i have never been a real sweets person until i had theses doughnuts. now i worked for gate petro when they bought out the 7-11 chain and this shop was next door to one. well gate closed the store next to the doughnut shoppe and it didn't take long before was missing the shop. we asked them to move and we built them a brand new shop if they would move 2 blocks down and back next to the gate store.

as donut shops go in general it's a little sub par. although, they are the bestdonutsi've found in the 3 years i've been living in jax. no crullers. the yeast was under developed in the glazed doughnuts. and, i suspect that the cooking oil could have been hotter because they were a little greasy. the bavarian cream was suspiciously pudding-like. and, everything i tried was a little on the overly sweet side. no savory options were offered. :(
for all of that, while i would never recommend this place as a foodie destination, i probably will be back. like i said, depressingly, they're the best doughnuts i found in jacksonville so far. that's not saying much. but, it's something.

a true jacksonville institution, the donut shoppe has been serving customers in arlington since it opened its doors in 1962. they open bright and early every day at 5am and serve deliciousdonutsmade fresh daily.  while krispy kreme and dunkindonutsmay be good, the donut shoppe takes you back to time where every corner wasn’t some giant chain and every donut didn’t come off an assembly line looking identical.  they take cash only and they close the doors when they sell out. you’ll have to show up early if you want to get some of this sugary goodness! according to a 2010 times union poll the donut shoppe had the best donut in jax.  we’re convinced that assertion still holds true today. the donut shoppe food: on this visit to the shoppe we took home a dozen donuts($8.37) plus an “ugly” also known as an apple fritter. we started off trying the standard glazed donut.  it was pretty darn good.  it was slightly more dense and sugary than a dunkin but not nearly as de

hard to lose weight when i have to drive by this place at least twice a week. i always get a dozen to share with the girls at the office. they swear i am trying to make then lose out biggest loser contest but the truth is thesedonutsare so good how could anyone not eat a couple. the office admin actually had the nerve to send me an email out to all users about the frequency people are allowed to bring in donuts. i typed a real nice reply but just showed it to my girls instead of sending it. lol. stupid skinny little boss's pet gets on my nerves.

best in town, hands down. we ate at uptown market this morning and, being disappointed, decided to try the donut shoppe. i've lived in jax almost my whole life and have deprived myself - these are the bestdonutsi've ever had, and they were like 6 hours old by the time we got them! my wife took one bite of the strawberry cake donut, shouted an expletive, and was (seriously) involuntarily drooling.

it's cash only, which was a pain but thedonutsinstantly made up for that. definitely will make a trip back to this place!

the bestdonutsin the country!. i have been coming to the donut shoppe for over 10 years now. these guys make the bestdonutsi have ever had, period. go ahead and look up the doughnut plant in new york city, or randy'sdonutsin los angeles, or any other famous spot that has been featured on the travel channel or food network. i have been to both, and the donut shoppe here in jacksonville beats them all.

as a lot of people have stated, get here early. the best selection is before 8am. while everything they put out is heavenly, you must, i repeat, you must try the ugly. yes, it costs $1.83, which is slightly higher than the regular donuts, but they are 2 times the size, and more addicting than crack, heroine, tobacco, and reality tv combined!!!! as the guys from firehouse subs say on their commercials - "if you don't agree, it's free" - i can vouch for the uglies! come look me up if you do not have a religious experience while eating it.....i will reimburse you myself! no exaggerating.....if i were on my death bed and had time for one last meal, it would hands down be a warm ugly and a glass of milk.

the staff is awesome, especially susan - who knows the regulars by name! if you are in need of a sugar rush, this is the place to go. i promise you - happiness awaits!!

omg... i've haddonutsin all the major us cities and none come close to these. arrive early as thedonutsgo fast! the glazed are sweet, soft, mouth watering heavenly delights. my favorite is the chocolate frosted glazed donut..... help me somebody!!! i live way too close and may have to join a 12 step donut program!! the apple fritters are wonderful and the cake donuts, very moist. when you first walk in it may seem the choices are limited compared to dd but then you realize who needs more when these satisfy every possible donut desire? oh and just for the record....most of the dd no longer make their own donuts!. they're brought in from an outside bakery every day! i don't cate where you live..... this place is worth the drive. since they moved down the street, they've added coffee.... and it's really good! and yes they only take cash..... however they now have an atm right in the bakery! the donut shoppe is to die for!

doughnut heaven. i learned about thesedonutsfrom one of the docs i used to work with about 20 yrs ago. he would bring them in for the staff on sat and sun mornings. let's just say that after that i drove all up and down university blvd looking for that shoppe!!!!! and when i found it, it was on!!!!!!
this shoppe should be on diners, drive-ins, and dives as the best donut shoppe in the world!!!!
definitely worth the drive wherever you are and i've learned to get there early or call ahead to place an order. :-)))))))
