udder-ly terrific. the blackened burger was great, a great full blackened flavor. the western was even better, the jalapeños were a bit warmer than expected, but very good. the fried pickles also were good, as well as theonionrings. the fries were mediocre, fries are not supposed to be limp soggy potatoe strings, fries are to be "fried" which usually has an implied meaning of being crisp! everything considered a great and unique taste, only one weak point to avoid, unless they fix it.

chaotic is putting it kindly. twice, they tried to bring us someone else's order. the third time, the manager brought out someone else'sonionrings. only then did he hear what i said each time before: "we haven't ordered yet." to his credit, the manager apologizes profusely and offered theonionrings and, later, dessert. it wouldn't have been a biggie, except at no time did anyone ask if we needed a refill. when it comes to refills, i have an internal meter tied to the tip. it begins at 15-20 percent. it went to zero tonight. that said, the burgers and fries were really good. just be sure not to go when there are more than 2-3 other tables occupied.

son and i had a late lunch here a few days ago and both of us ordered burgers.  rings for me and sweet tater fries for the boy,  good burger but overcooked, the worst thing you can do to a good burger.  burgers are meant to be juice dripping & mouthwatering to the point where you cannot even put it down.  theonionrings were homemade but lacked flavor.  why can't anyone in okc make goodonionrings???  i thank them for doing them homemade but they need flavor.  nice atmosphere and we had a very friendly waitress so all in all i am sure we will be back.

the decorations and menu names are remarkable, but the food is not.  this was my first visit.  with a name like theirs, i figured that their burgers would be the thing to try.  the burger recipes are distinct from others that you will find in the okc metro area, e.g. the mad cow burger.  i went with theonionburger since that is how i like to assess the quality of a burger joint.  it is listed as anonioncheeseburger, but i got mine without cheese since i don't care for american cheese.

the burger was just average. i had to order ketchup and mustard because they are not provided at the table.  i also ordered lettuce, tomato, and pickles to go with some extra grilled onions.  i am not sure why this is not listed on the menu.  the lettuce was a green lettuce leaf that overlapped the bun; i had to fold it over to make it fit on the burger.  the tomatoes and pickles were fine.  it did not seem like i got extra grilled onions, and i could barely taste them against the flavor of the burger itself.

a tabletop sign proudly proclaimed that they serve burgers made from angus beef.  this must be a cut of beef without much fat in it because the burger that i got was lean.  at other burger joints, i worry about the bun disintegrating from contact with burger drippings, but not here.  the patty had good beef flavor with little aftertaste.  it was served at a temperature just a little bit hotter than room temperature; i prefer my burgers to be served too hot to handle straight off the griddle.

i got french fries as my side dish.  i don't like it that you have to choose a side dish.  i didn't feel like paying a dollar extra to get a salad, onionrings, or sweet potato fries.  on the plus side, the fries were served hot and were not greasy.  on the negative side, they were barely seasoned.  i added salt to make them taste better.

this place is worth a return visit, but i won't come again until i'm in the edmond area for lunch.

ian and i paid a return visit to the cow calf-hay 27 apr 2015.  we both had the classic cow burger, ian with fries, mine withonionrings.  both were perfectly cooked and full of great beef flavor.  we both had iced tea as well.  service was very friendly.  our check was $26.48.  recommended.

this was our first visit and my only regret is we haven't been here sooner. we had the mad cow and the western, both were delicious. we also had fries andonionrings. can't wait to go back and maybe try the chicken.

great burgers!. first visit and i loved it! i had the grilledonioncheeseburger and it was fantastic! cooked well done, but still juicy! the meat was thick and tasty, but i couldn't finish it all! the onions were grilled perfectly too. theonionrings are really good too! the prices are really low for the amount and quality of the food you get. i highly recommend this eclectic calf-hay!

horrible customer service. my husband and i like to try new places so we gave it a shot. no one acknowledged that we had even walked in the door. the place was pretty busy and the sign said to seat yourself, so we figured that could have been why. then, a waitress walked right by us and didn't even offer us a menu. we saw people getting in a cash register line so we thought maybe we were supposed to order there and sit down. we may have goofed, but the process was never made clear until we realized people were paying their tickets in that line. so, we went back to sit down again. there were no clean tables, so we chucked the trash ourselves. yay, for having to bus our own table. after 15 minutes of waiting, we were about to get up and go elsewhere, but someone finally came over to offer us menus. another few minutes later a waiter came and took our drink order. tables started clearing up around us as people were leaving. another couple sat down across from us and for some reason they got their menus and drinks before us by the same waiter (their food obviously arrived before ours as well). another 5 minutes later, we finally got to put in our food order. my husband ordered curly fries with his burger, because the waiter asked which he preferred. almost 40 minutes later we finally got our food only to discover that there were no curly fries, but instead very grossonionrings. we brought this to the waiter's attention. he tried to take my husband's whole plate away, instead of just offering to bring out the correct side. my husband refused to give up his burger, because we had already been waiting almost an hour! the waiter agreed to just bring out the curly fries. by the time both of our meals were gone, the waiter finally brought out fries, but they were wrong again. straight fries instead of curly fries. really?!?! of course, we were so fed up at this point and we didn't want to have to wait another decade to get the proper thing (or possibly another wrong item). the meal was well over $20 for lunch and while the burger was the best thing about it, the meal was not worth the horrible experience and lack of customer service. i guess customer service is dead there. they really need to get it together.

excellent burgers. we came through edmond on our way to ks. we came across this place via a google search. it was a little off of our route but it was worth it. seeing the outside, we almost decided to skip it. really glad we went in. seriously the best burger we've had and we have some really good ones where we live in tx. bun was toasted perfectly and the meat was cooked just right. very good flavor. we stuck with the classic and were not disappointed. theonionrings were very good too. we will stop in again next time we are in the area. clean place with good service too.

ian and i had dinner here two weeks ago. it was pretty good! he and i both got burgers, his a plainish cheeseburger, mine a western bbq burger. ian got fries, i gotonionrings. i also got an appetizer of fried pickles. those were excellent; they came with a very nice ranch dressing to dip the fried pickles into. the burgers were pretty good; they had a nice crust and texture, and very good flavor. that was some good beef. they were cooked medium well as requested. not a scrap was left. the iced tea was very good. service was super friendly and prompt. our check was $29.50. i look forward to another visit.
