the decorations and menu names are remarkable, but thefoodis not.  this was my first visit.  with a name like theirs, i figured that their burgers would be the thing to try.  the burger recipes are distinct from others that you will find in the okc metro area, e.g. the mad cow burger.  i went with the onion burger since that is how i like to assess the quality of a burger joint.  it is listed as an onion cheeseburger, but i got mine without cheese since i don't care for american cheese.

the burger was just average. i had to order ketchup and mustard because they are not provided at the table.  i also ordered lettuce, tomato, and pickles to go with some extra grilled onions.  i am not sure why this is not listed on the menu.  the lettuce was a green lettuce leaf that overlapped the bun; i had to fold it over to make it fit on the burger.  the tomatoes and pickles were fine.  it did not seem like i got extra grilled onions, and i could barely taste them against the flavor of the burger itself.

a tabletop sign proudly proclaimed that they serve burgers made from angus beef.  this must be a cut of beef without much fat in it because the burger that i got was lean.  at other burger joints, i worry about the bun disintegrating from contact with burger drippings, but not here.  the patty had good beef flavor with little aftertaste.  it was served at a temperature just a little bit hotter than room temperature; i prefer my burgers to be served too hot to handle straight off the griddle.

i got french fries as my side dish.  i don't like it that you have to choose a side dish.  i didn't feel like paying a dollar extra to get a salad, onion rings, or sweet potato fries.  on the plus side, the fries were served hot and were not greasy.  on the negative side, they were barely seasoned.  i added salt to make them taste better.

this place is worth a return visit, but i won't come again until i'm in the edmond area for lunch.

thefoodhere is always great! not a lot of options on the menu but who cares it is all fantastic! cow calf-hay has one of the better burgers in okc/edmond. the only downer is service isn't always the best.

great burgers!. first visit and i loved it! i had the grilled onion cheeseburger and it was fantastic! cooked well done, but still juicy! the meat was thick and tasty, but i couldn't finish it all! the onions were grilled perfectly too. the onion rings are really good too! the prices are really low for the amount and quality of thefoodyou get. i highly recommend this eclectic calf-hay!

horrible customer service. my husband and i like to try new places so we gave it a shot. no one acknowledged that we had even walked in the door. the place was pretty busy and the sign said to seat yourself, so we figured that could have been why. then, a waitress walked right by us and didn't even offer us a menu. we saw people getting in a cash register line so we thought maybe we were supposed to order there and sit down. we may have goofed, but the process was never made clear until we realized people were paying their tickets in that line. so, we went back to sit down again. there were no clean tables, so we chucked the trash ourselves. yay, for having to bus our own table. after 15 minutes of waiting, we were about to get up and go elsewhere, but someone finally came over to offer us menus. another few minutes later a waiter came and took our drink order. tables started clearing up around us as people were leaving. another couple sat down across from us and for some reason they got their menus and drinks before us by the same waiter (theirfoodobviously arrived before ours as well). another 5 minutes later, we finally got to put in ourfoodorder. my husband ordered curly fries with his burger, because the waiter asked which he preferred. almost 40 minutes later we finally got ourfoodonly to discover that there were no curly fries, but instead very gross onion rings. we brought this to the waiter's attention. he tried to take my husband's whole plate away, instead of just offering to bring out the correct side. my husband refused to give up his burger, because we had already been waiting almost an hour! the waiter agreed to just bring out the curly fries. by the time both of our meals were gone, the waiter finally brought out fries, but they were wrong again. straight fries instead of curly fries. really?!?! of course, we were so fed up at this point and we didn't want to have to wait another decade to get the proper thing (or possibly another wrong item). the meal was well over $20 for lunch and while the burger was the best thing about it, the meal was not worth the horrible experience and lack of customer service. i guess customer service is dead there. they really need to get it together.

i like the burgers but would not recommend going here right at opening on a saturday. this is when the young staff also has their lunch at the back table of the restaurant. i felt like i was interrupting their meal every time i needed anything. this has happened to me both times i have gone to this place. if you can get past the young, inexperienced wait staff...thefoodis pretty good.

great flavorful burgers and really good onion rings. don't miss the sweet potato waffle fries - maybe the best in the okc area. service is a little lagging but thefoodis worth the search for this out-of-the-way spot.

one great cheeseburger!!. i had a plain ol' cheese burger with fries. a great burger, good flavor, juicy and delicious. the fries were nothing special, but they were good too. my wife had the maui burger (i had a bite and it was pretty good too. i'm not a big pineapple fan, but the bacon on her burger was great.) she got her's with sweet potato fries' which were excellent. all in all we really enjoyed ourfoodat the cow.

six months ago this restaurant lived up to its rating. last night we decided that it is off the list (otl). our fries were crispy critters, onion rings greasy, hamburgers not cooked right and greasy. if you like crisp, greasyfoodthen this is the place for you.

best burger i've ever had. i have to say, i've tried plenty of burger joints in the metro, and this is by far the best i've ever had. the atmosphere certainly showed that they are dedicated to burgers and burgers only. service was excellent, the waitress (whose name escapes me) checked up on us plenty of times to make sure we were okay, and thefoodwas awesome. loved how dedicated the owners are to come up with the comical and original names to each entree. i tried the mowi-cowi burger, which features of course, the hamburger patty, a pineapple ring, honey mustard, bacon, and provolone cheese. i felt like this burger was made especially for me. i definitely will be coming back in the near future.

and just a personal note: i've read plenty of reviews saying that the restaurant is always busy to the point where you have to wait for a table--i'm not sure where they got that idea, i came on a friday evening at dinnertime and the restaurant was almost completely empty- there was only one family there. but, if you're in the mood for a nice greasy hamburger without smelling like onions after leaving, this is definitely the place to go.

best burger i've had in okc. the burgers are great, best i've had since moving here in '94. the burgers are available in 1/3 or 1/2 lb size and come with either fries or onion rings - i went for the rings. the onion rings are really good, the sauce that comes with them puts them over the top. late lunch for 2 with drinks was about $20 - a bargain considering the quality offoodyou're getting. we'll be going back again soon, and dragging my in-laws with us.

the restaurant is a little hard to find if you're not from edmond. easiest way is to get on broadway, turn east on 33rd and get into the right lane asap. turn down wynn road - it's just before the mcdonalds, and go about 100 yards or so, and there you are.

they are now open tuesday through sunday, i don't recall the hours, so you might want to call just to make sure.

goofy decor but great food!. i've been wanting to try this place, but was a bit hesitant because i'm not a fan of city bites. boy, was i in for a surprise! the decor is as whimsical and goofy as that of city bites, but that's where any comparison ends, as far as i'm concerned. we got there early (before 11:30) and that was a good thing -- this small place fills up fast at lunchtime. our waitress greeted us promptly, returned with our drinks and took our orders. it took a bit for ourfoodto arrive, but it was worth the wait. the 3 of us ordered different burgers -- the western, the onion burger with cheese, and one with bacon, onion strings, pepper jack cheese and spicy mayo that i can't recall the name of. all were fantastic! juicy beef, well-toasted bun, melting onions -- delicious! our fries\onion rings orders were a bit mixed up, but they brought us extra onion rings to make up for it. the onion rings are fabulous as is the sauce.

we'll be going back to this place, even though it requires a trek to edmond. it's well worth it!

how much?. really, 8 dollars for a buger and 7 dollars for chicken. you don't have any atmoshpere to even think about selling youfoodfor that much. there are many other choices in edmond that give so much more for your money. a refinished dry cleaning/donut shop/snow cone stand does not make a good place to sell expensive burgers without giving more to the customers.
