thecoppermill is a stylish and spacious cafe in alexandria (near sydney park) which serves some impressive breakfasts and brunches. the cafe was designed to reflect the industrial character of the neighborhood, with exposed bricks and cooper pipes, wooden table and benches as well as grey painted walls.

the star of the day was their awesome peruvian burger, a sunny side egg and slow roast pork chicharron between two lightly toasted brioche bun. the delicious burger was enhanced by the savory roasted kumera and salsa criolla, which complements the pork chicharron perfectly. thecoppermill is worth a second visit 😆😆

went to "thecoppermill" cafe today with a friend and  we both had the avo on toast. there were lots of options but the non vegan avo on toast really sold me. it came prepared with a thick peice of sourdough toast covered in avocado slices, sesames seeds, dukkah and chilli flakes(chilli flakes came on the side) and was topped off with peruvian feta and a poached egg. the meal was terrific. very light but very filling at the same time :d i also ordered the coconut iced chocolate. i was asked if i wanted full cream or lite milk which although a simple question showed the flexibility the cafe has. (hopefully they were not hinting anything :s ) this didnt have too much of a coconut flavour and just tasted like a standard (non blended) iced chocolate. unfortunatly (being the clutz i am) i spilt my drink but the waitress came and cleaned it up straight away. i offered to clean it up but she insisted and sorted tthe problem out very quickly. we were very impressed with the service here.  the menu's were brought out pronto along with a cup ad water, we sat outside as we had dogs which was nice to get some cool air but being right on the road and surrounded by people waiting for takeaway meals it got a bit busy. they had a great selection of fresh muffins and croissants, sandwiches and slices. as it was a very popular cafe though it did seem like the takeaway was taking a while for the people there but that didnt effect us. coffee was also very tasty. we found that the cost of the extras were a bit exxy but it was good to see different types of extras eg. pork belly. i think the major selling points was our main meal and the service with the let downs being the location of the outdoor seating and the lack of coconut flavour in the iced coconut chocolate. will return.

we initially found thecoppermill to be quite chaotic. lots of people cued up with no separate line or signage for take away and dining in house. we were abruptly told to wait as there was a list of people before us. as it turned out there was no one before us and were then welcomed by two lovely staff members. the menu is small but it was great to see a turmeric latte there. the food was good, portions are a little on the small side but there are lots of nice and fresh flavours. we weren't blown away, but it was nice to try somewhere a little different for breakfast.

made a early brekky visit to thecoppermill. brekky was very much on the tastier side of things and was very evident that good produce was used. i had the smashed avo with the addition of bacon. portion size was on the smaller side and probably could have done with the addition of an egg. the coffee was excellent however my only complaint was that it came to the table luke warm (much the same with the brekky). service was good and efficient however it wasn't overly friendly.

although thecoppermill's menu is short, it features a good variety of classics and some more unusual items, all of which sound enticing.

i ended up opting for the coddled egg dish because i was intrigued by what a coddled egg is. it turns out that it is rather like soft-boiled egg. as google explains, "soft-boil or coddle method: coddling causes the yolk to become slightly thickened and warm." which would explain why it was served with toast soldiers, except served shell-less in a jar rather than in shelled and in an egg holder. the inclusion of the sweet potato puree added another dimension to the overall taste of the dish, its sweetness contrasting with the saltiness of the egg and bacon.

jm ordered the bacon and egg roll, which sounded solid yet simultaneously boring. this is a problem with the brekkie/brunch classics: whilst they are fail-safe flavours, they are by the same vein also rather unexceptional. jm's verdict echoed this: whilst it was tasty, there was nothing special about it. indeed, there was a slight imbalance in the bun-to-filling ratio.

overall, thecoppermill is a solid brunch spot. and the best part? it is extremely reasonably priced.

despite being in the quieter streets of alexandria, thecoppermill is pumping during weekend breakfast sessions with patrons lining out the door for their morning coffee fix. located within a former printing press, the cafe is in a concrete building, giving the space a cooling, industrial feel.

personally, i am a strong advocate of boycotting the grounds of alexandria whenever in the area, but i can assure you that has nothing to do with my choice to visit thecoppermill whenever i'm around that neck of the woods. in fact, i have been to the mill so frequently that i have officially eaten everything on the menu, and i can wholeheartedly assure you that it is all 100% on point. their coconut hot chocolate even holds the prestigious title of "ej's favourite hot beverage of all time", and if you get the chance to try it you'll immediately understand why - this bad boy is liquid intercourse.
aside from the menu, the service is absolutely brilliant - the staff are extremely friendly and are always up for a bit of bantz. they were even kind enough to give me one of their kanye west paper bags despite not ordering takeaway.
i live by the ideology that nothing is perfect, so i have deducted points due to the fact that i'm not particularly fond of the mill's layout. i think the open nature of the kitchen detracts the atmosphere of the cafe; however, that's purely due to the fact that i'm being extremely picky with intent.

which leads me to thecoppermill, which reminded me ofcoppercups, which reminded me of metal and 18th century, which reminded me about my horseshoe. once an old fit out for a  printing press , alexandria has again proven to evolve from its industrious past to the new cool, hip and trendy.  on a wednesday midmorning, the place was full of happy diners and even had a queue going. a 10 minute wait quickly flew by as mrs o and i caught up with each other's lives. the brew of coffee filled the air as we taken to our seats. there were so many beautiful and bright coloured dishes, each looking as delicious as the next.  as we sat, we also gave our drink orders. a soy latte ($4?)  for me and a pineapple, watermelon & mint juice ($6)  for mrs o. while i forgot to take a photo of the drinks, the coffee was strong and

going down hill. i have ratedcoppermill as delivering the best coffee in the inner west until recently. in recent weeks the coffee has been going down hill, this may be due to the incredibly rude barrista not being able to take constructive feedback well. when asked for another shot of coffee as the coffee tasted a little weak he clearly threw a tantrum and would then not speak to me anymore, nor even look me in the eye. i said thank you and stood outside to wait for some take away food. the very rude barrista proceeded to come outside and tell me that i was rude and i should have asked for an extra shot of coffee in the first place. i told him i just like my coffee to taste like coffee as it always has done. he had no further words and clicked his cowboy boots and stormed off in a huff. customer service at it's very worst. you've lost 2 regular customers, maybe some gen y training is in order.

had some very ordinary service on the weekend. not what you'd expect from 91% likes and a shame we had family with us at the time. we waited outside for a table and when it was cleared and ready we weren't seated, she went off and cleared/served other tables, bit weird. so after a while we seated ourselves and she ran over to say yes that's your table but i'm not going to serve you for 5 minutes, also weird. we were in a bit of a hurry so we figured we would order takeaway from the counter which was next to us. when she realised this she told us we couldn't sit at the table then and had to get up for someone else, not weird, just rude. so we bought 1 muffin and went home for toast. we really want to likecoppermill, it's our local, but that left a pretty sour and confused taste in our mouths. hopefully a once off but do i want to try again? sadly no.

located in alexandria, thecoppermill is a welcoming addition to the suburb's ever-growing cafe and restaurant scene that has been expanding since the opening of the grounds of alexandria. it's also a good walking distance from st peter's station and even closer to sydney park if you happen to be in the area. as you step inside, you notice the industrial decor of the joint while it's quiet on the weekdays, it's much more busier on the weekends especially with the limited seating inside so there will be a small wait for the tables at peak hours (though not as bad as the grounds of course). it's rare to find a cafe where i actually want to try every single dish of the menu but thecoppermill is definitely one of those places.

when i was fortunate enough to live a short stroll from thecoppermill, i would always drive past gawking at the hoards of people standing outside waiting for a table. a firm favourite among locals and non-locals alike, you can find this little gem on mitchell rd just near sydney park. their menu changes often and is relatively small but all that really matters is that what they do serve is pretty awesome. peruvian bacon and eggs a glorious hot mess that packs a full suitcase full of flavours and then some. served warm on a fluffy bun, it’s a pretty foolproof menu staple for diners.

one too many parties and one too many drinks mean that i’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect hangover cure. although abstaining from drinking is probably your best bet, nothing beats a bacon and egg roll – and thecoppermill in alexandria serves up a pretty mean one.

although it was windy walking from st peters station, the cafe was very inviting with the warmth and homely smells wafting from the open kitchen! i loved the decor of the wooden tables, concrete floors, exposed pipes which reflected the industrial area of alexandria but also had the homely soft touches of fresh flowers on each table. on sundays, thecoppermill offers an all day brunch menu offering a delightful mix of tantalising ingredients which are perfect for winter such as halloumi and mushrooms!  the galette was incredibly flavoursome and simply the best comfort food. it was like eating a deconstructed pie with the flaky puff pastry of the galette gently balancing the s
