there is domething fishy with all the good reviews. this place is not that good, i went to check it out right when it opened, placed my order (on the paper) and they had no fries and wouldnt allow us to have an alternate side out of the 25 they had in the display case. note: if u are out or dont have something, u should inform your guests before they order!

better than five guys. we've tried several burger joints in the ottawa area. vera's is way better than five guys (our go to place) and the hintonburger. fries were a little over cooked but the burger was thick and juicy. so good!

possibly best in town. better than hintonburger imo (patty was juicier, nicer flavour), also located in an awesome butcher shop, will be back.

vera's burger shack is a canadian west coast chain that originally started as a beach concession, in the late 70's, in west van. it has since expanded to over 10 locations in the vancouver area, and 1 in ottawa (lucky us).

vera's. i wish the butcher shop had a bigger snack bar. the burgers are top notch, fresh, cooked to perfection and the staff helpful and happy. people that work there always have smiles on their faces and are helpful with anything you buy/

vera's is nestled in a butcher shop (the butchery). it is a tiny place with a few seats, but they serve one of the best burgers in town. you pick your own toppings (i love the vera sauce!). the burger is huge but so juicy and tasty that i always manage to eat it all. they close fairly early (6pm most days) so make sure to check their hours. they also sell the patties in the butcher shop, so you can cook your own at home. their burgers hit the spot! yum!!

first visit. my friend had the burger, and said it was wonderful. i opted for the chili, which was good. where this place fails is, firstly, i couldn't get a bread roll or butter to go with the chili--i offered to pay extra. it doesn't exist! i also couldn't get a glass of milk, or a carton of milk! they are pushing soft drinks, and milkshakes. the shock at that part must have shown on my face! you can't have a healthy beverage, because they don't carry them!!

perfect steak... every time!. i think people writing reviews are confusing the butchery with the now attached vera's burgers?
anyways, we've been going there for a long time! well before they moved down the plaza! i honestly don't see the point of buying meat at the grocery store anymore! their beef is the most amazing you can get anywhere around here! the chicken breasts are huge and usually feed 2-3 people depending on your appetite!
i love that i can buy only what i need and never have to have meat in my freezer! no waste!
the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and fast! best prime rib you can buy and they'll even tell you how to cook it if you're unsure. i usually just tell them what i'm making and they tell me what to get and how much.. can't go wrong! they even ask you if you want leftovers!

my husband and i both ordered the vera's burger with bacon and cheese with a basket of fries to share. i must say, it was the best burger i've had, you basically order the burger, the lady behind the counter puts the fresh burgers on the grill which takes 8 minutes to cook, that is when you know the burger is going to be good!!!! we then mark down on our order sheet what we would like on our burgers, for example, i chose bbq sauce, dijon mustard and tomatoes! my husband added all his stuff which inclu

not worth the money!. i paid close to $11 for a one patty burger that was burnt. the fries were also undercooked-- i've never had partially raw fries before. while the quality of ingredients i'm sure is high, it definitely isn't worth the money. you could get a much tastier burger for a fraction of the cost at 'hintonburger', and hintonburger uses local beef too which vera's doesn't

in ottawa's top three best!. stopped in for lunch today and had a vera burger with sautéed onions ,pickles,hot peppers tomato,mustard,ketchup,mustard and mayo. tasty burger cooked perfect just past medium with a slight bit of charring for a great grilled flavor. my wife had the quarter pound dog with bacon and cheese and says the best in ottawa with a nice texture and all beef. fries were super crispy and a bit thinner than most places but still hit the hunger bell nicely. tie goes to vera, quinn's and baja. my one gripe would be that the bacon was not that predominant otherwise a giant burger that fills you up!
