the basha cuisine

just had lunch. absolutely delicious. i had the chicken shishtawook and appetizer of smoky babaganough with warm pita. my husband had lamb ribs, new menu item. they were moist and well seasoned. great service. totally recommend the basha cuisine. we'll be back often.

best mediterranean restaurant in the johnson county area. nice middle eastern ambiance with curved arches, warm colors and beautiful period tapestries. great selection of authentic middle eastern menu items full of exotic spices, delicious hummus, various grilled meats like lamb and chicken, and several kid-friendly options.

one of the notable mediterranean restaurant in overland park. we had chicken kabab with rice. rice pulav was average and chicken waa same too. ambience and serving is decent.

here is my review of the basha located at 7016 w. 105th
street, overland park ks. i went to eat there the other night. we went at
dinner time, but there was only one other couple in a booth. all the ceiling
fans in the restaurant were on, but it was still very hot in the restaurant,
actually too hot to even eat. i even asked my waitress if the air conditioning
was broken, and she said no. does basha not realize that hot air rises and
ceiling fans only push the hot air down? do they think that having 10 ceiling
fans run is cheaper than turning down the air conditioning?

 

from the last time we were at this restaurant the prices
have all gone up one or two dollars per meal. when we received our meals, we
also noticed that the portions were easily about half of what they use to be.
even the quality has gone down, not to go into specifics. but, what really
bothered us was the small fruit type flies buzzing around our food when our
waitress brought our food. i had to wonder if this many flies came out with the
food, how many flies are there in the kitchen.

 

eating out in restaurants on a daily basis i’ve seen this
type of mentality before. whereas you once had a thriving busy restaurant with
great reviews, you tend to get greedy and start raising prices and cutting back
on both quantity and quality hoping that your original good name will keep you
going. you can’t fool patrons continually. we will never return to this
restaurant and will only watch with anticipation for its closure.

decent mediterranean cuisine around. not so great and not so bad. decent ambience. i felt the price a bit high than the usual mediterranean around here. decent choice in the menu

incredible sandwich. i eat there yesterday and had one of the best sandwich's i have ever had. the chicken shwarma was awesome. kind of pricey, but worth it. i will drive back down from kck to have it again.

we had several dishes and all were great. especially liked the desserts. service was very good too.

disappointed...in many ways. we have enjoyed the basha since it opened, but i believe they must be under new management? had a groupon for four entrees with the fine print stating that we needed to call ahead/advance notice for carryout. we did call ahead today and were told that we couldn't have carryout without purchasing additional items (not in the groupon details). i sent an e-mail to them via their website and it bounced back.

prices go higher, quality goes down. having been to the basha since they opened, we thought what a great restaurant. the food is great, the prices are great, and the restaurant is great. how they flipped this around so quick is unbelievable. our last visit we notices their prices went up by almost 50%, not to mention them charging you an extra $0.50 if you need a little more sauce. the food quality is easily down by 30 or 40%, but coming in there the other day on a hot 95 degree day, the restaurant, was empty, but it was very hot in the restaurant. when i mentioned it to the owner, he said he would turn up the ceiling fan. all the ceiling fan did was move the hot air around more. i will never come back.

went with a groupon which i thought was generous - 2 dinners for $15. our server was very polite and helpful. and when we didn't finish all the food she was very concerned that we weren't happy with the food. we were happy, it was just that we had ordered an appetizer and we were leaving room for dessert! i would definitely return.

excellent meal. great flavors. you can really taste the quality ingredients.
the atmosphere was really nice. i was by my self on a business trip, but the sat night crowd was mostly couples and families out, so it's a nice place for date night.

great food and service. we had never been here before, but we decided to try it due to an advertisement on groupon. best mediterranean food that we've had in the kansas city area so far. their salad is to die for, but their lamb kabobs are also totally delicious. plus, their rice pudding is like heaven in your mouth. will be back.

overrated. the resturant is too expensive for the type of dishes that it is offering.
the buffet is very small and the desert is of cheep quality.
the resturant is not kids friendly.
the food is average and not unique.
the resturant charges like a upscale place, but presents disposable cups and plates.
i am not planning to go back.

good. went there today, ordered lamb kabobs with rice, it was pretty mild, i requested some sauce to give the meal a little spice, i was told they didn't have anything, but for a small fee they would get me some, i ate some of my meal and took the rest home to spice it up myself. the lamb was cooked perfect.

amazing from start to finish. i've been to a few mediterranean restaurants around kc over the years and they have all been so-so, even the ones with rave reviews. but this one was great from the start. the service was amazing. she was attentive and knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to give recommendations. we started with falafels that were flavorful. i had the chicken biryani. it came with plenty of amazing rice, a delicious simple salad, hummus and pita bread. i could eat a gallon of that hummus. it was all delicious. we ended the meal with om ali, something i had never heard of before and of course it was also fantastic. definitely coming back.
