such a large dining space with an amazing and lively atmosphere!
the service is amazing and thestaffare so friendly and welcoming as well!
the food is honestly so delicious. we tried the curry puffs, tom yum soup, pad se ew, massaman curry and and barbecue pork! my favourites were no doubt the tender barbecue pork with the amazing dipping sauce and the tom yum soup which had the right balance of sour, salty and chilli!
have to admit, it’s on the pricey side but it is so worth it. will be back again to try the rest of the menu without a doubt!

this restaurant has the best service i've encountered in sydney! all of thestaffare very attentive and very friendly, it makes for such a nice night. the food is also delicious and the banquet meals great value and more than enough for everyone. i've been here with a large group of people a couple of times and would come back again and again. we love thai pothong!!! thank you so much for the lovely night :)

been this to place a few years ago, and went back tonight for dinner. it was a fully booked night, even with our reservation we had to wait about 15 mins to be seated which is not ideal.
but the food and service worth the wait and the slightly overpriced menu. we had the bbq octopus for entere and flamable steamed seafood with masaman curry for main. the steamed seafood was amazingly delicious.
service fromstaffwas very polite and friendly. didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive.
will definitely go back.

from our entry into thai pathong we were greeted with a smile and taken to our table, immediately thestaffseated us placing our serviettes on our laps and poured our drinks, this was almost like flying first class,thankyou for the service.

friendlystaffand quick service. the portions are big. if anyone is hungry for thai this place won't let you down. the pad thai and spring rolls were delicious. however, drink options were limited but byo is allowed. would come back again and recommend.

this has been my 4th time at the restaurant and it's always been a great time for my family and i. the customer service andstaffwere super nice and friendly and everyone of them were professional. i forgot to provide a tip to the waiter that served us, but we will be coming back soon to celebrate my sister's birthday so i'm excited to come back and dine once again! thank you for a memorable dining experience! this is the best thai restaurant in sydney! keep up the good work, guys! can't wait to dine again here soon.

ordered: barramundi curry $24.90, pad thai $19.90 and lamb cutlets $25.90. the restaurant is massive, they have a downstairs area, always really busy andstaffare very friendly. my favorite dish was the lamb cutlets it was so succulent and flavorsome with its honey soy glaze. the pad thai was also good but def overpriced for what it is. the barra curry had a fantastic flavor but the fish was a little tough. we asked for takeaway for our leftovers and they kindly added extra rice for us too.

ok, this was a place that we wanted to go for a while. like we would expect the service was quite fast and friendly. ordered betel leaf prawn, papaya soft shell crab salad, curry puffs, tom yum prawn soup and barramundi curry.

betel leaf prawn: 5/5

guess we wouldn't bother ordering curry puffs next time, but betel leaf prawn is a must for us!

the only downside for this place is that at around 10pm, most of thestaffstarted cleaning up and straightening the tables. they even started stacking plates in the empty tables and mopping the floor, in front of us while we were still there?? we found it really weird, not that type of scene we would want while we were still tryina enjoy our meal.

noting the reputation and long time presence in newtown i thought to finally dive in with the girlfriend and parents for a birthday celebration. lovelystaffand delicious food but the quantity was lacking (stingy). would recommend for those who fill up easily.

one of the best thai restaurants i have ever eaten at. thai pothong was probably the restaurant which sparked my love for thai food. not only if the food absolutely divine and a real celebration of thai heritage and culture, thestaffare super friendly and so attentive to their customers. i've been here multiple times now and even celebrated my birthday here. highly recommend!!

it was quite busy for last sunday. we missed our fish asstaffdid not review our order.however, the cuisines are so nice. stir fried basil pork mince a bit sweet but tasted the same as in thailand, chili as well.we all like it.tom yum soup was great, especially compared to my lunch order in an thai restaurant.i strongly recommend satay chicken.

had the green curry chicken today and it’s the best ever green curry i have had in sydney☺️ full of flavor and i like the authentic chili touch in it. good for people who love authentic thai curry! thestaffare all nice and friendly. very attentive and help with adding rice and water even though it’s a busy weekend night. the decor is appealing too not like some other casual thai places, full of spaces if you are a big group! the steamed jasmine rice is endless which is also a bonus for $3. with the yummy green curry i can easily have two bowls. not to mention the rice itself is high quality. i also like the buddha statue displayed in the restaurant. highly recommend this place no wonder it’s the highest rated thai in the town.

what amazing thai food!! thestaffis so friendly! only thing i would recommend is booking in advance ! my husband and i had the panang curry and the pad thai and the calamari for entree! such great picks!

very friendly service! thestaffspend their time to explain some dishes. they were able to serve some dinner items like coconut seafood curry and crab fried rice.

loved the refreshing batel leaf prawns. beef salad is very tender and flavourful. though it has some fatty bits i did not like. the pad kee mao was too spicy... thanks to xihuahua 🐶 for introducing this place.
