this restaurant has never failed to impress ! dined here last night and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. theservicehas always been exceptional which i feel simply lifts up the whole experience of 'eating out'. ordered my staples and as usual everything was yum, even after all the food that we ordered ( and completely polished off), we still managed to clean out the dark chocolate ice cream too simply because it was so yummy !!!

probably one of the most consistent and authentic restaurants in the city. i have never been to this restaurant and left disappointed.
so yesterday we went here again after a few months. the place is buzzing as usual.. we get our table and for appetisers we order the white prawns and chicken wrapped in pandas leaves and a couple of glasses of wine. theservicehas been always polite and quick. but today it was lightning fast... trust me i have waited longer in mcd lines. the starters came perfectly done great fresh shrimps with this pungent fiery sauce with a hint of sweetness to it. the chicken was... fried chicken you never go wrong with that

for mains we ordered a green curry chicken and steamed rice. my only concern was the curry was a lot more spicy than usual... apart from that it hit the spot perfectly.

less than perfect rating is just because the space felt very cramped for a star hotel restaurant... i could easily without even moving more than a couple of inches serve myself from the neighbouring table. although this made up for some funny eavesdropping on interesting conversations around our table. ??.

bhooka rating:
four thumbs up to this restaurant ????

thai pavilion at taj president cuffe parade was mumbai's first thai restaurant .. a true fine dine, this place has the most amazing and authentic thai royal cuisine that i've ever had. no wonder thai pavilion gets rated as india's best thai restaurant year after year ..

the dim lightings and ambience set the mood for a perfect plush evening. theirserviceis excellent and you truly feel treated 5 star standards. do not miss their green curry, papaya salad at any cost, they are the best you'll find anywhere.. they have a good selection of wines, however if you are not the wine types then do try they iced tea.

this place is steep and a meal for two will cost you about 2000 - 2500 bucks but its surely worth a special evening. most of the weekends the tables are sold out and one should definitely not go without prior booking.

i love the ambience and the way they have done up the place. went in the afternoon lunch on a weekday and was pretty empty. not a big thai food fan actually.

food: we were a large group so we ordered corn cakes, papaya salad, raw mango salad and spring rolls for starters. the corn cakes with the honey chili sauce and papaya salad was good. the raw mango salad and spring rolls were very average and not somehting i'd expect here. ordered a clear noodle soup. i love the way they serve it in earthen pots. but i was surprised at the quantity - pitiful and nothing really great.

in main course we went with green and red thai curry with steamed rice and stir fry vegetables. the green curry was a tad better than the red though very average and nothing to write home about. the stir fry veg was decent but then again thats a standard dish you cant go wrong with.

service:serviceis really good unlike a lot of five star restos. probably amongst the best ive seen. i loved the way they had this little cloth in a dish which expands when they fill it with water to wipe your face with. they made sure everything was ok and if we needed anything else.

damages: spent about rs 2000 per person after a 30% discount. of course we did have a full meal with a few drinks but still not worth the price.

after coming back atleast 2 - 3 of us had bad throats so im definately skiping this place hence forth.

the perfect place to enjoy delectable thai food. the ambiance gives you a feel like you're in a thai place. soft music soothes you while you enjoy your food.
to freshen you up, they first give you a hot towel which has lemongrass flavor.
later they serve thai flavored sushi which is complimentary.
the food is authentic and flavorful.
what we ordered-
tom yum soup
glass vermicelli soup
coconut soup
all of which had a perfect consistency and were piping hot, just the way a soup should be.
appetizers called for thai dim sum and corn cakes.
for main course we ordered pad thai noodles which had a perfect crunch of peanuts.
dessert was just superb. i called for a dark chocolate semifreddo with espresso ice cream.
overall my experience was fabulous. theservicewas also up to the mark.
had a great evening.

i am not new to the thai pavilion experience having seen this place in many avatars. i must also confess that i always look forward to my meals here.

so yesterday when we decided to dine here with another couple i looked forward to the evening. thai pavilion truly has a great setting in the taj vivanta nee president at cuffe parade and it sets the stage for special occasion. the interior is classy and the lighting is perfect. theserviceis absolutely flawless.

having said that down to the meal, unlike many other places in this category thai pavilion has a uniform pricing for all categories so if you look at the appetizer menu all of them are priced the same irrespective of the exoticness of the dish. so scallops will cost the same as chicken for example. my favorite appetizer here in the past has been the soft shell crab and unfortunately it was not available. and so we decided to call for the prawn tempura and scallops along with a raw papaya salad. the prawn tempura, what can you say was like any other prawn tempura, the accompanying sauce was suitable, but then dish is not a dish you need to come to thai pavilion for! on the other had the scallops were really delectable with just the right amount of sear and a very interesting sauce. slightly tart but lovely. the thai papaya salad in the other hand is always a winner here.

down to the mains we ordered the lamb masyman curry. i think thai pavilion makes the best masyman curry in mumbai. there is absolutely no doubt about it. you can taste the sweetness of the browned onions. amazing flavours and the lamb is cooked just at the correct level where it melts in your mouth.

so then thai pavilion is the perfect setting for a relaxed evening with fiends and family or maybe that special date. my only quibble is that the table spacing is very close for a establishment of this calibre and a potential evening spoiler if you have noisy or unruly people on the next table. not on this evening though all good!

oh yes i always get asked about the pricing a meal for two without drinks should set you back by 1500- 2000 bucks and i think that's good value!

the best thai restaurant i have been to in india, have tried out 3-4 other 5 star ones but nothing beats the taste and the spread in thai pavilion. all time favorite is the diced coconut chestnut desert-tub tim krob, have not come across a better tasting option anywhere in india, easily matches and betters many others i have tried in singapore and thailand. other dishes you could try are the steamed john dory and the banana leaf wrapped chicken with a layer of honey ( think so). be prepared to spend a decent amount from your wallet here- not the most value for money but the taste and theservicemake it worth the experience.

with the title of the best thai place in town, thai pavilion had great expectations to be fulfilled as i walked through the place in anticipation. truth be told, i have had minor interactions with thai food, but nothing major and certainly not something at a taj offering. i was supremely excited for the same and decided to choose trattoria, with its italian offering a miss for this oriental treat.
the ambience of the place is classically modern. there is a live kitchen counter, where almost all the dishes are cooked from the soups to the desserts. it's a very different from a lot of other places, but i must say that seeing the wok sizzle is very pleasing almost cathartic. the stream of desserts that fly off the counter are pleasing and you can wait till you reach the end.
theserviceis impeccable, but i have a bone to pick with the establishment as i will explain later.
as we seated, we were offered two fried veg wontons as a starter from their side. i think it was their way to showcase the sauces they had on offer. we started with the tom kha soup, spicy and hitting you right up the nose with its ginger and lemongrass. the portion size of the soup was pretty small though. next up we had the lobster in pepper and butter. it was amazing. the sauce was heavily full of garlic and went amazing with the deshelled lobster. and finally we opted for thai green curry as the main course. the taste of the curry was really good, however we found a few bits of uncooked chicken in our meal. at this point, given the level of place we are at, i expected that they would ask for a replacement or not charge it at all. however, we were disappointed when they waiter just high handedly took it away and said that i can have another portion of the same dish. i argued that i would not want to eat the same thing, fearing the outcome, but he did not respond further at which i just asked for the cheque. i was disappointed and could not even try the desserts they had to offer.
the whole experience hit so many high notes and was let down because of one bad one. i don't know why all of this happened, but it was weird and i expected better from a place rated 4.6,not to mention one that is hosted by taj.

the ambience of the place is not quite up to the mark.serviceoffered was good. we were seated promptly n food did not take long to arrive. food was quite average and did not taste any different from many other places serving the same cuisine. over all did not seem worth the money.

went to thai pavilion for dinner recently and had a great experience! loved the greatserviceand delicious food.

they served pumpkin chips before the meal which were so light and crispy. i really enjoyed them.

for appetisers we had the pomelo salad which was my absolute favourite dish and i definitely recommend it. we also had the corn cakes which were good but could have had little more flavour. i ordered the tom yum soup which was spicy and nice. we also got the lotus root chips which also tasted good with the house sauces that they provide.

for mains we had the pad thai which i felt was a little bland and could have been more flavourful along with the water chestnut in a spicy sauce.

although we liked some dishes more than others, theyservicewas great and i will definitely be back for my favourites!

when you go to such restaurants you don't expect a strand of hair on your plate in the middle of the dinner. i was really enjoying the taste of food until this happened. even the smaller restaurants have now started taking care of this. i really didn't expect such kind ofservicein a taj restaurant. food tasted yum though andservicewas quick but the whole hair incident blew me off. but the chef was kind enough to come out and apologize to us.
food - good
staff - very good
ambeince - good
service - poor ( cause of the hair incident ).

one of the oldest but the best thai restaurant to relish thai cravings. recommended for all thai lovers! from the appetisers- raw mango with water chestnut, chicken satay, steam chicken dim-sums, to main course- fried chicken rice with sorted vegetables, paddy thai noodles and fish fry with oyster sauce and to end with assorted dessert platter and homemade ice creams- salted caramel, dark chocolate, fresh cashew and espresso. all in all a great lunch treat for our taste buds. loved theserviceand the staff. polite, gentle, quick and very quick in response.
