probably one of the most consistent and authentic restaurants in the city. i have never been to this restaurant and left disappointed.
so yesterday we went here again after a few months. the place is buzzing as usual.. we get our table and for appetisers we order the white prawns and chicken wrapped in pandas leaves and a couple of glasses of wine. the service has been always polite and quick. but today it was lightning fast... trust me i have waited longer in mcd lines. the starters came perfectly done great fresh shrimps with this pungent fiery sauce with a hint of sweetness to it. the chicken was... fried chicken you never go wrong with that

for mains we ordered a greencurrychicken and steamed rice. my only concern was thecurrywas a lot more spicy than usual... apart from that it hit the spot perfectly.

less than perfect rating is just because the space felt very cramped for a star hotel restaurant... i could easily without even moving more than a couple of inches serve myself from the neighbouring table. although this made up for some funny eavesdropping on interesting conversations around our table. ??.

bhooka rating:
four thumbs up to this restaurant ????

location -cuffe parade › vivanta by taj president, 90, cuffe parade, mumbai.

to begin with , i had dined at thai pavilion for my birthday which turned out super good. thai pavilion is the best destination for thai food in mumbai. pure genuine thai food is what you get here. you won’t be disappointed at all. everything was perfect from the ambience ,staff , food and desserts. the only worth 5 star restaurant in mumbai in terms of everything :) i felt so good and relived memories of bangkok and pattaya. i highly recommend this restaurant to visit atleast once and then you won’t stop revisiting it :p

every dish was unique and the flavours were so strong and real. kudos to the chef, you are truly amazing. as i told the staff it’s my birthday , they send a huge slice of strawberry cheesecake at the end and yes it was toothsome. truly a merry experience out here.

we had 1 mocktail, 2 appetizers, 1 rice ,1curryand 1 dessert platter..

mocktail

farang marry (450) which is a super blend of guava and chilly , it’s yum. highly recommend .

appetizers

red snapper cakes (900)- oh my god , it was super delicious.
marinated chicken with peanut sauce (900)- just about okie, nothing great.
main course

spicy fried rice with roastcurrypaste and basil. (950)- prefect and full-flavoured.
kho pnp kai (950) – divine with full of flavours.
we took the dessert platter , which had assorted mini desserts. now all of them aren’t that great specially the chocolate ones , but omg water chestnut, pumpkin and creme brûlée is just too good. priced at 600.

 sub total – 4750 .. total tax – 863 grand total – 5613.

no doubt it’s expensive , but totally worth it once in a while…

i love the ambience and the way they have done up the place. went in the afternoon lunch on a weekday and was pretty empty. not a big thai food fan actually.

food: we were a large group so we ordered corn cakes, papaya salad, raw mango salad and spring rolls for starters. the corn cakes with the honey chili sauce and papaya salad was good. the raw mango salad and spring rolls were very average and not somehting i'd expect here. ordered a clear noodle soup. i love the way they serve it in earthen pots. but i was surprised at the quantity - pitiful and nothing really great.

in main course we went with green and red thaicurrywith steamed rice and stir fry vegetables. the greencurrywas a tad better than the red though very average and nothing to write home about. the stir fry veg was decent but then again thats a standard dish you cant go wrong with.

service: service is really good unlike a lot of five star restos. probably amongst the best ive seen. i loved the way they had this little cloth in a dish which expands when they fill it with water to wipe your face with. they made sure everything was ok and if we needed anything else.

damages: spent about rs 2000 per person after a 30% discount. of course we did have a full meal with a few drinks but still not worth the price.

after coming back atleast 2 - 3 of us had bad throats so im definately skiping this place hence forth.

i am not new to the thai pavilion experience having seen this place in many avatars. i must also confess that i always look forward to my meals here.

so yesterday when we decided to dine here with another couple i looked forward to the evening. thai pavilion truly has a great setting in the taj vivanta nee president at cuffe parade and it sets the stage for special occasion. the interior is classy and the lighting is perfect. the service is absolutely flawless.

having said that down to the meal, unlike many other places in this category thai pavilion has a uniform pricing for all categories so if you look at the appetizer menu all of them are priced the same irrespective of the exoticness of the dish. so scallops will cost the same as chicken for example. my favorite appetizer here in the past has been the soft shell crab and unfortunately it was not available. and so we decided to call for the prawn tempura and scallops along with a raw papaya salad. the prawn tempura, what can you say was like any other prawn tempura, the accompanying sauce was suitable, but then dish is not a dish you need to come to thai pavilion for! on the other had the scallops were really delectable with just the right amount of sear and a very interesting sauce. slightly tart but lovely. the thai papaya salad in the other hand is always a winner here.

down to the mains we ordered the lamb masyman curry. i think thai pavilion makes the best masymancurryin mumbai. there is absolutely no doubt about it. you can taste the sweetness of the browned onions. amazing flavours and the lamb is cooked just at the correct level where it melts in your mouth.

so then thai pavilion is the perfect setting for a relaxed evening with fiends and family or maybe that special date. my only quibble is that the table spacing is very close for a establishment of this calibre and a potential evening spoiler if you have noisy or unruly people on the next table. not on this evening though all good!

oh yes i always get asked about the pricing a meal for two without drinks should set you back by 1500- 2000 bucks and i think that's good value!

a place that never let's you down. it has the best thai food in mumbai. the greencurryis delicious and we called for the pad thai noodles. their waterchestnut starter was to die for. the cherry on the cake was the toffee dessert. perfectly warm and soft. the only thing that is disappointing is that the tables are too close to each other.

this was my favorite place for thai food in mumbai however the food quality seems to have gone down considerably.

the mango/water chestnut salad was too sour. this was despite enquiring specifically from the staff before ordering - they had assured that given the mango season it won't be too sour.

the massamancurrywas a bit salty. overall the balance of flavor, which the restaurant consistently delivered earlier, was missing. given how good the food here used to be i guess the chef may have changed!

visited this restaurant once again for dinner, and once again it did not fail to impress. we started off with the papaya salad. it was the best papaya salad ever. if you happen to visit this place you cannot miss this delicacy. we had the red thaicurryfor the mains and also pad thai noodles. both of them were delicious. the chef was kind enough to make us the thai as per our taste and ingredients. i guess this is a reason what taj is "taj". they knew we were celebrating my wife's birthday, and we were given a chocolate cake to wrap up  an amazingly satisfying dinner. i will definitely keep on visiting this place frequently like i always have. cheers!!!

its very rightly one of the best in india. the serive and ambience is of class. its lke an international.michelin stat feeling. live the decor and the intense enviorment. pandan leaves chicken and spring rolls are a must try. the green thai cuŕry is spicy. and lipdnacking. beverages are ok. be it the cocktails or the pungent thai cooler. its a must try . .

brilliant...without doubts thai pavilion is the best destination for thai food in india.
the restaurant is a five star hotel and obviously the rates are on higher sides but once you eat here you feels nirvana of thai food. i love there thaicurrywhich is out of the world , all the flavours are blended well and vegetables are cooked to absolute perfection.
tempura n dimsums are simply superb.
in desserts i tried there coconut milk with water chastenut which was again outstanding.
hospitality is class like other taj hotels.

with the title of the best thai place in town, thai pavilion had great expectations to be fulfilled as i walked through the place in anticipation. truth be told, i have had minor interactions with thai food, but nothing major and certainly not something at a taj offering. i was supremely excited for the same and decided to choose trattoria, with its italian offering a miss for this oriental treat.
the ambience of the place is classically modern. there is a live kitchen counter, where almost all the dishes are cooked from the soups to the desserts. it's a very different from a lot of other places, but i must say that seeing the wok sizzle is very pleasing almost cathartic. the stream of desserts that fly off the counter are pleasing and you can wait till you reach the end.
the service is impeccable, but i have a bone to pick with the establishment as i will explain later.
as we seated, we were offered two fried veg wontons as a starter from their side. i think it was their way to showcase the sauces they had on offer. we started with the tom kha soup, spicy and hitting you right up the nose with its ginger and lemongrass. the portion size of the soup was pretty small though. next up we had the lobster in pepper and butter. it was amazing. the sauce was heavily full of garlic and went amazing with the deshelled lobster. and finally we opted for thai greencurryas the main course. the taste of thecurrywas really good, however we found a few bits of uncooked chicken in our meal. at this point, given the level of place we are at, i expected that they would ask for a replacement or not charge it at all. however, we were disappointed when they waiter just high handedly took it away and said that i can have another portion of the same dish. i argued that i would not want to eat the same thing, fearing the outcome, but he did not respond further at which i just asked for the cheque. i was disappointed and could not even try the desserts they had to offer.
the whole experience hit so many high notes and was let down because of one bad one. i don't know why all of this happened, but it was weird and i expected better from a place rated 4.6,not to mention one that is hosted by taj.

went back to an old favourite after a few years, and the food was still outstanding! the classics - papaya salad and corn cakes were as good as ever. tried the redcurrywith crushed peanuts which was great. also recommend the basil andcurrypaste fried rice and the pad ki mao. the hot thai chocolate soufflé was more of a tart but satisfyingly chocolately

finally we made it together after 3 years of last visit , on our best friends birthday on last sunday for lunch.
it is always pleasure to visit taj property and restaurants.
pictures says everything, we were so hungry that we didn’t click the pic (any ways thai food are simple in presentation ) and even taj serves simple way.
we ordered row papaya and row mango salad. i have never ever have tried such amazing mango salad , it’s 10 on 10.
regarding otehr dish , each and every dish were amazing apart from corn cake which we had day before at nara thai. you can’t compare both place but then too need some comment on that.
water chestnuts, red thaicurryand rice (qty and aroma ) o o 😮
yes , missed our about mocktail and soup which didn’t impress me much but that depends on individual choice.
no words .....
over all w end with birthday cake which. they provided complimentary complimentary from their end.
hopsitality you never have to say anything right from entry to exit.
inteiror yes i liked it simple and elegant.
entrance decor is simply amazing .
keep it up !!!

we had a fantastic time this afternoon at thai pavilion. though all the four of us were vegetarians, the extremely courteous staff made it so easy for us to arrange a varied and well balanced menu . the raw papaya salad and the dimsum were outstanding; not to mention the signature thai greencurry! the bamboo shoot and lotus stemcurrywas out of the world ! the icing on the cake ( literally) was when they organised a delicious chocolate mousse cake and ice cream to celebrate my birthday ..that made my day ! a truly great experience..the warm welcoming service made the difference! strongly recommended!

thai pavilion is one of the best dining spots for authentic thai food in mumbai. the cosy ambience and friendly staff adds to the charm of the restaurant.

coming to food, thai cuisine is all about spices and freshness of produce and this restaurant doesn't even disappoint a bit. the seafood was fresh and bursting with flavors. they also have a great take on mocktails -- some infused with the freshness of basil and lemongrass.

ps. the thaicurryin this picture is by far the best i have eaten in mumbai.
