thaipavilionat taj president cuffe parade was mumbai's first thai restaurant .. a true fine dine, this place has the most amazing and authentic thai royal cuisine that i've ever had. no wonder thaipaviliongets rated as india's best thai restaurant year after year ..

the dim lightings and ambience set the mood for a perfect plush evening. their service is excellent and you truly feel treated 5 star standards. do not miss their green curry, papaya salad at any cost, they are the best you'll find anywhere.. they have a good selection of wines, however if you are not the wine types then do try they iced tea.

this place is steep and a meal for two will cost you about 2000 - 2500 bucks but its surely worth a special evening. most of the weekends the tables are sold out and one should definitely not go without prior booking.

location -cuffe parade › vivanta by taj president, 90, cuffe parade, mumbai.

to begin with , i had dined at thaipavilionfor my birthday which turned out super good. thaipavilionis the best destination for thai food in mumbai. pure genuine thai food is what you get here. you won’t be disappointed at all. everything was perfect from the ambience ,staff , food and desserts. the only worth 5 star restaurant in mumbai in terms of everything :) i felt so good and relived memories of bangkok and pattaya. i highly recommend this restaurant to visit atleast once and then you won’t stop revisiting it :p

every dish was unique and the flavours were so strong and real. kudos to the chef, you are truly amazing. as i told the staff it’s my birthday , they send a huge slice of strawberry cheesecake at the end and yes it was toothsome. truly a merry experience out here.

we had 1 mocktail, 2 appetizers, 1 rice ,1 curry and 1 dessert platter..

mocktail

farang marry (450) which is a super blend of guava and chilly , it’s yum. highly recommend .

appetizers

red snapper cakes (900)- oh my god , it was super delicious.
marinated chicken with peanut sauce (900)- just about okie, nothing great.
main course

spicy fried rice with roast curry paste and basil. (950)- prefect and full-flavoured.
kho pnp kai (950) – divine with full of flavours.
we took the dessert platter , which had assorted mini desserts. now all of them aren’t that great specially the chocolate ones , but omg water chestnut, pumpkin and creme brûlée is just too good. priced at 600.

 sub total – 4750 .. total tax – 863 grand total – 5613.

no doubt it’s expensive , but totally worth it once in a while…

i am not new to the thaipavilionexperience having seen this place in many avatars. i must also confess that i always look forward to my meals here.

so yesterday when we decided to dine here with another couple i looked forward to the evening. thaipaviliontruly has a great setting in the taj vivanta nee president at cuffe parade and it sets the stage for special occasion. the interior is classy and the lighting is perfect. the service is absolutely flawless.

having said that down to the meal, unlike many other places in this category thaipavilionhas a uniform pricing for all categories so if you look at the appetizer menu all of them are priced the same irrespective of the exoticness of the dish. so scallops will cost the same as chicken for example. my favorite appetizer here in the past has been the soft shell crab and unfortunately it was not available. and so we decided to call for the prawn tempura and scallops along with a raw papaya salad. the prawn tempura, what can you say was like any other prawn tempura, the accompanying sauce was suitable, but then dish is not a dish you need to come to thaipavilionfor! on the other had the scallops were really delectable with just the right amount of sear and a very interesting sauce. slightly tart but lovely. the thai papaya salad in the other hand is always a winner here.

down to the mains we ordered the lamb masyman curry. i think thaipavilionmakes the best masyman curry in mumbai. there is absolutely no doubt about it. you can taste the sweetness of the browned onions. amazing flavours and the lamb is cooked just at the correct level where it melts in your mouth.

so then thaipavilionis the perfect setting for a relaxed evening with fiends and family or maybe that special date. my only quibble is that the table spacing is very close for a establishment of this calibre and a potential evening spoiler if you have noisy or unruly people on the next table. not on this evening though all good!

oh yes i always get asked about the pricing a meal for two without drinks should set you back by 1500- 2000 bucks and i think that's good value!

brilliant...without doubts thaipavilionis the best destination for thai food in india.
the restaurant is a five star hotel and obviously the rates are on higher sides but once you eat here you feels nirvana of thai food. i love there thai curry which is out of the world , all the flavours are blended well and vegetables are cooked to absolute perfection.
tempura n dimsums are simply superb.
in desserts i tried there coconut milk with water chastenut which was again outstanding.
hospitality is class like other taj hotels.

with the title of the best thai place in town, thaipavilionhad great expectations to be fulfilled as i walked through the place in anticipation. truth be told, i have had minor interactions with thai food, but nothing major and certainly not something at a taj offering. i was supremely excited for the same and decided to choose trattoria, with its italian offering a miss for this oriental treat.
the ambience of the place is classically modern. there is a live kitchen counter, where almost all the dishes are cooked from the soups to the desserts. it's a very different from a lot of other places, but i must say that seeing the wok sizzle is very pleasing almost cathartic. the stream of desserts that fly off the counter are pleasing and you can wait till you reach the end.
the service is impeccable, but i have a bone to pick with the establishment as i will explain later.
as we seated, we were offered two fried veg wontons as a starter from their side. i think it was their way to showcase the sauces they had on offer. we started with the tom kha soup, spicy and hitting you right up the nose with its ginger and lemongrass. the portion size of the soup was pretty small though. next up we had the lobster in pepper and butter. it was amazing. the sauce was heavily full of garlic and went amazing with the deshelled lobster. and finally we opted for thai green curry as the main course. the taste of the curry was really good, however we found a few bits of uncooked chicken in our meal. at this point, given the level of place we are at, i expected that they would ask for a replacement or not charge it at all. however, we were disappointed when they waiter just high handedly took it away and said that i can have another portion of the same dish. i argued that i would not want to eat the same thing, fearing the outcome, but he did not respond further at which i just asked for the cheque. i was disappointed and could not even try the desserts they had to offer.
the whole experience hit so many high notes and was let down because of one bad one. i don't know why all of this happened, but it was weird and i expected better from a place rated 4.6,not to mention one that is hosted by taj.

thaipaviliondoes not do justice to the rating it has received on zomato!
being a vegetarian, the smell of fish in the whole restaurant was displeasing
we received a complimentary pumpkin sauce and chips platter, which was great and the flavour of the sauce was also very unique.
the tom yum soup was bland and smelled unpleasant.
next comes the crispy lotus stem starter which was not only highly overpriced (3 times) but also just had the flavour of garlic and butter, none of the other spices.
nara thai is a way better restaurant which serves authentic thai food. would any day recommend it over thai pavilion.

went to thaipavilionfor dinner recently and had a great experience! loved the great service and delicious food.

they served pumpkin chips before the meal which were so light and crispy. i really enjoyed them.

for appetisers we had the pomelo salad which was my absolute favourite dish and i definitely recommend it. we also had the corn cakes which were good but could have had little more flavour. i ordered the tom yum soup which was spicy and nice. we also got the lotus root chips which also tasted good with the house sauces that they provide.

for mains we had the pad thai which i felt was a little bland and could have been more flavourful along with the water chestnut in a spicy sauce.

although we liked some dishes more than others, they service was great and i will definitely be back for my favourites!

easily the best thai food in india, the thaipavilionwould actually count as one of bangkok's better restaurants if it were located there. what makes the high quality and authenticity of the cuisine so unusual is that the restaurant is the favourite child of an indian chef: ananda solomon. like the famous australian chef, david thompson, who immersed himself in thai culture, chef solomon spent months in thailand, working in fancy places and ordinary restaurants before running a street stall in a small soi off sukhumvit road.some dishes, like the duck, have never left the menu but many others come and go as solomon takes more and more chances with the palates of his customers, betting that they will like authentic thai food. so far, at least, his guests have been happy to go along with his menu innovations.

thaipavilionis one of the best dining spots for authentic thai food in mumbai. the cosy ambience and friendly staff adds to the charm of the restaurant.

coming to food, thai cuisine is all about spices and freshness of produce and this restaurant doesn't even disappoint a bit. the seafood was fresh and bursting with flavors. they also have a great take on mocktails -- some infused with the freshness of basil and lemongrass.

ps. the thai curry in this picture is by far the best i have eaten in mumbai.

good to see thaipavilionback to something like it's best after a few years of coasting and living off laurels ...last couple of times had been very very disappointing with non challant staff, mediocre food, and without the attention to detail that the taj places are famous for
tonight food was fresh sea food, greatly attentive staff, and very friendly service .. no question the finest soft shell crab this side of bkk

thaipavilionis an all time favourite. i have been visiting thaipavilionfor over 7 years now and it has always been a very pleasant experience. the complimentary starter they start you off with, is one of the best in the world. followed up with an incredible phad thai jae and green curry. the service here is always great (also want to add that the staff is incredibly knowledgeable too) and adds to the charm of the restaurant. there is only one suggestion i have for anyone who wants to eat here. call up and reserve. this place gets booked up really quickly, so always best to go in with a reservation.

the president hotel, being right around the corner has always been a go to place for a comfy fine dine experience without having to take the pains of reservations or cabs. the service at thaipavilionwas impeccable. the food was served hot and in record time. we ordered:
1. water chestnuts rice tartlets - this was the star dish of the meal. the crispy tiny tarts filled with grated water chestnuts and corn had a sweet tangy taste. it was placed on a slice of carrot which added to the crunchy element of the dish.
2. thai spring rolls - the coating was thin which kept the rolls crispy and the filling was true to a veg palette. i’m not too fond of lemongrass and was glad that the stuffing didn’t have an overpowering taste of the same.
3. vegetable dimsums - the dimsums were pretty typical. the filling was tasty and the accompanied sauce was complimenting the dish but was quite disappointed with the plating.
4. chicken dimsums - the size of the dimsums was good and they were purely filled with tender pieces of chicken on the inside which was served with the same sauce as the veg dimsums. the outer covering was as soft as the chicken and really melted in the mouth
5. red thai curry - the portion size was good enough for one person but seemed like the number of pieces of chicken were less. the gravy was of the right thickness and had a balance of coconut and spice mix.
6. flat noodles with chilli garlic - flat noodles were very tasty. they had the right amount of spice in it.
7. baby corn and mushroom in black bean sauce - the vegetables were sorted in a black bean sauce and it gave a bit of a sour taste. i was expecting more of baby corn and mushroom rather than the other vegetables in the dish.

i would really like to give a special mention to the pumpkin crackers that were served before the starters. they were absolutely delicious and left us wanting a second helping. would highly recommend this place for an authentic thai meal for a special occasion.

now as the the name says thaipavilionthis restaurent was only only for thai food.
if you want to have some scrumptious thai food and you ar ok with shelling some more few bucks then this is the place.

ambience and staff
ambience was typically thai decor, interiors were done quite ascthetically and beautifully. perfect for romantic dinner. specially if you want to propose your loved one then take him/her to this place and go ahead.

staff was superb, very very polite and friendly staff. never seen such a great staff
kudos to vivanta by taj for such a wonderful staff.
they help you to decide the menu according to your appetite level and in very friendly manner.

now food food food!!!

1. soup flavoured with lemongrass
the way they serve the soup in a authentic thai style bowl. that bowl gave me feeling that m in thailand.
taste was good, but i felt that lemongrass taste was bit more than it should be. other vegetables in soup was consistent and gave good flavour, even the consistency of soup was perfect. all was good except the lemongrass was bit more.

2. thai pi
this is was a mocktail. the pic is attached, we expected it was a coconut flavour, but we were wrong it was not at all a coconut floavoured drink. this mocktail should be tried as it had all together completely diffrent flavour.
taste it and see it :)

3. rice noodles with herbs and garlic
this was awesom.. at first we were not sure how rice noodles will turn out but it was more than delicious. these noodles come with gravy. all the vegetables and thai sauces were perfectly blend together, mushrooms in this gave a completely diffrent taste. consistency of all veges were perfect. quantity is perfectly suffiecient for 2 ppl not more not less

4. assorted desert platter
if you are confuse which desert to select and your not able to make up your mind from various super yummy deserts, then dont worry just order this platter. this serves all desert in small quantity, by which you can enjoy all of them.
pasteries, mousse, cherry shorts and 1 is indo western delcicay. all four of them served in one platter makes it perfect.
there was nothing in platter which i did not enjoyed. everything was soooo yummmy and delicious. just loved it
burp!! :)

best thing about this place was that all the dishes were served in proper quantity, it was not that omg this is too much how will we finish!! ya, ohh this is so less we should have ordered more!!
no wastage of food and gives perfect satisfication!
