the crispy squid was not greasy, crisp as promised and more tasty than most italian fried calamari i have had. the freshrollswere refreshing, tightly wrapped just the way i like it. the astor roll was slightly spicy and had a lightly smoky aroma. the summer roll was very good, the salmon very fresh and the lemon sauce was a nice counterbalance to the rich fish. the flavors definitely reflected the name it was given. the only dish i have found fault with was the thai-namite curry. although the sauce was flavorful and rich, the stewed beef cubes were hard to chew, a bit tough, reminded me of cheap meat. the roti that came with it was a bit doughy for my taste. i would ask for rice if i ever had it again. overall i have had lots of great meals here.

disappointed. i ate in at thai-namite once before, and was thoroughly impressed. so i decided to carry out this time... and was completely disappointed. first of all, i asked for two sushirollsand i only received one. secondly, their seaweed salad (which i usually love at other restaurants), after having one bite, made me literally gag. i am upset to say that i will not be going back-- because it's just not worth the price-- or my time.

poor service, good food. thai-namite has some of the best thai food in milwaukee. their tom-yum and tom-kha soups are fabulous, rollsare fresh and delicious, noodle dishes are cooked well (most of the time) and their appetizers are good too. the food makes this restaurant one of my most frequent dinner spots however the service has gotten so irritating that its hard for me to continue giving them my business. i often get delivery and food will come an hour and a half later, cold and soggy. i will call during their open hours and i get no answer multiple times. i've numerously had wrong food delivered and then asked for it back before i could get the right thing, and have dealt with plenty of attitude on the phone. it's a shame that they so often end up disappointing, whether we sit down, carry-out or get delivery.
its worth it to try this restaurant and hopefully you'll have a good experience; personally ill be back on the look out for somewhere else to spend my money.

we went here several times but had awful service each time so we decided to try their take out. they were 45 minutes later than they said they would be for two handrollsand the house curry, which was over priced and didnt hold i candle to ee sane. while i waited, i watched them continually bring wrong drinks, miss items entirely, and not help the tables properly-just as they had done to us each time. i tried to let them know our poor service experiences and was brushed off. we will never return.

great maki, ok entree. i went here last week to try something new, and we ended up loving the maki rolls. the presentation of the makirollsand the entrees were absolutely beautiful, but the entree i ordered was only ok. i will definitely go there again, but will probably stick to ordering their sushi and maki only.

fantastic!. we'd been wanting to try this place for awhile. usually any asian style food is right up my alley. we were nervous at first because it took 5 minutes of us standing in the restaurant for anyone to even acknowledge us. then, when we were seated it took almost 10 minutes for someone to even come and ask us our drink order. they were quite busy, but i think those first moments are huge when it comes to making a first impression. once we did order though our drinks and food came quickly. we ordered the springrollsas an app. they were incredibly good. they were filled with yummyness (i know thats not a word, but it's the best way to describe them), and the sauce to dip them in was excellent... not just an average sweet and sour. for the main course we ordered the cashew chicken and the hawaiian chicken. both meals were delicious and had a lot of flavor. the veggies were fresh... honestly some of the best thai food we've ever had. after we finished though we had trouble again with the service. it took a long time to get our server's attention and seemed to take a long time to get our check. the other servers looked like they were working quickly and with great care, so i think we just had a bad server. all in all, we will definitely be back again... the food was just way too good not to! seriously ... give them a shot!

great lunch specials too!. i agree completely with the two previous user reviews. i can only add that the have excellent lunch specials as well. $8 for a satisfying lunch portion thai dish with rice, spring roll and a drink -or- $9 for two sushirollsand a drink. same great atmosphere and service. on the way out the door, i caught a whiff of the volcano chicken which smelled fantastic. i know what i'll order on my next visit.

update 2/21/11: now that i've tried the volcano chicken, i can say it tastes as good as it smells!

incredibly surprised. given this was a new local establishment, we didn't have many expectations about thai-namite when we felt a craving for asian food. we wandered down the street, and left having had one of the best meal experiences in a long time.
thai-namite is a simple, cleanly-designed restaurant occupying a cute corner spot on brady and astor streets. the staff greets you warmly, and throughout the meal, is kind and attentive. the menu is a broad mix of sushi and thai, although some of the dishes seem to pull their inspiration from other asian cuisines. nonetheless, the selection is fantastic.
we ordered a few sushirolls(spicy salmon and tuna), and two thai dishes (cashew chicken and thai-namite curry -- a variation of traditional massaman). they were brought out very quickly, but were excellently prepared, and contained noticeably fresh ingredients. the maki were nicely crafted with large cuts of fish, and the main courses had generous slices of chicken and beef, with a nice supporting cast of ingredients to complement. what you likely won't be looking for, however, are larger portions, as these were ample for the hungriest of diners.
the atmosphere was upbeat, with an ecclectic mix of background music to intertwine with the buzz of happy patrons. the small complement of staff carefully placed dishes, utensils, meals and drinks at our table, and always made sure we had what we needed without seeming at all intrusive.
best of all, the dishes were very reasonably priced. our meal came to less than $50, including food, drinks and tip. it would be hard to find a better value for the quality of meal anywhere in the city.
i hope that thai-namite continues to its short tradition of great food, great service, great atmosphere and great prices. we may have found our favrotie spot in the city, and will be back without question.
