tequila's town mexican restaurant

authentic mexican and a foodie hangout. the mexican food at tequila's is excellent as is the service, but assume a small wait when you go because it gets crowded especially with patrons who wait at the bar. each time we've been, the crowd has been an array of '20-50 something foodies', people who appreciate really good food even if it's coupled with a little jostling, and a lot of noise.

this place was not as impressive as i had though it would be. the drinks were great but the 45 minute wait was not really worth it! the dining area was loud and overcrowded. the food was underwhelming and overall, not noteworthy.

atmosphere is fun but loud (wood floors don't help noise). the salsa they bring with the chips is excellent. fresh cilantro and lots of onion flavor. i couldn't help myself from ordering the queso with chorizo. it is very flavorful with just a touch of spice (favorite dish of night). my picky 6 year old even liked it. i usually order a coronarita at mexican restaurants. this one was served in a pint glass instead of margarita glass and was just ok in taste. i would try a different margarita next time. i ordered the tacos el pastor (marinated pork) which is new to the menu. they were dry and not spectacular and i probably wouldn't order again. they were loaded with cilantro which made them fresh tasting. they have a kids menu which includes chicken fingers and smiley fries which made my daughter happy. service was not great (saturday night). i wanted another drink but server never came back before bringing the check. they make guacamole table side so you know it's fresh, but i didn't order it this time. it is probably best mexican downtown but if you want best authentic mexican in area then flacos tacos in pooler is better (albeit a small takeout place without real seating).

loud and worth it!
food is consistently good! fish tacos and tacos al pastor are the best in savannah! margaritas are better than average even for well drinks.

loved their salsa! the place was so cute and right off broughton. all my food was great. nice place to relax and eat and get back to shopping.

of all the mexican restaurants in savannah, this is by far the best. the carnitas was tender and very good. east coast mexican restaurants are not what you experience in texas or california, so don't expect this to be "cosmic" good. but it does have a good menu and nice decor. the wait staff was pleasant and the beer selection is solid.

this was a great eating experience. located just a few off blocks off bay st. and obviously a local fave. food, drinks and service were all great. considered to be a margarita snob, the wife gave this place two thumbs up

tequila's town mexican restaurant is definitely the best mexican food in town. the service is good and the food arrives fast every time. most of the time it's extremely loud and a lot going on. they also make guacamole table side.

the closest to "real" mexican in savannah. the street tacos are amazing! freshly made margaritas (i had a prickly cactus, blood orange rita), mole poblano, guacamole made next to your table (love!), and fresh ceviche and molcajete with homemade sauces (family orders). delicious food! great, up-beat atmosphere and friendly and knowledgeable staff. it can get a little loud, but has tons of personality and local flair. definitely a must stop in savannah!

terrible service and treatment. doesn't matter about quality, specials and prices it is about how you are treated! recently went with a group from out of town. they don't take reservations but someone in group thought we made them. person who said he was a manager was absolutely rude and could only repeat "we don't take reservations"...got it! this means waiting in line with rude staff who are just concerned about volume...move them in and move them out! the location isn't that convenient anyway from the squares and river street! too many great choices for restaurants! and if your going to savannah enjoy other cuisine...and especially avoid this place!!

great food, please improve service. great, fresh food but service needs improvement (but not enough to keep me away)

unimpressed. bad service. when we walked in on a friday night and they were decently busy, the host us down and said, "we close in 40 minutes" very rudely and walked away.
