tasty's burgers and fries

a decent expensive burger. my wife and i went up and tried tasty burger the other day. she liked her vege burger, i thought the cheesburger i had was a pretty good, sort of char broiled. we had some fries too. mine were a bit soggy. we had a couple sodas and i think it was about $20. it is a semi- fast food place. you go up and order and someone brings it out. located in an old gas station. burgers are pretty much the whole menu. i am saying that i liked it just based on the fact the food was ok...... but lets face it, it's a hamburger. if there is one thing you can get at any restaurant it's a hamburger. it is also a pretty expensive hamburger. i am not going to go back as i don't think it is a particularlygoodvalue, but they did a decent job with the one item they sell.

great burgers & shakes. got there before 12 noon today.goodthing because after we ordered the line got really long. parking is an issue. you may have to find a place to park & walk to the restaurant. staff was friendly. we ate outside and had a cool cat named felix ride by on his 3 wheel bike selling fresh roasted peanuts. he whipped out a harmonica & played a quick tune, very entertaining. if you're in the area and want a great burger, fries & milkshake be sure to give them a try.

i love this place. we come here frequently and always have agoodexperience. i always get the special and love having something exotic and new each time. my wife and kids love the standard tasty burger. i strongly recommend the sweet sweet potato fries.

rode the motorcycle 140 miles to get there with a few friends for lunch. quickly discovered there was little to no parking at the location. parked on the sidewalk and stood in line to order. their burger patties are only 1/4lb so if you want something bigger than a mcdonald's cheeseburger you will need to order two or a double patty burger. ordered mid rare but they are so small and thin it is hard to control temp and mine was overdone. ordered spicy sweet potato fries which were verygoodand burger was still "tasty". went back in for a chili dog because i was still hungry. the dog was verygoodand snapped with each bite. overall agoodexperience. to me the burgers weregoodbut not great enough to go back unless i was close by.

agoodburger all around and hand cut fries reminiscent of five guys burgers. service was a little slow and the seating outside is loud on the main drag. but still, agoodburger. the milkshakes looked great if you can handle all that dairy.

real damn food!. i've been to fernandina/amelia island off and on for ten years, and noplace there has touched me like tasty's, which we finally got around to trying late sunday morning for lunch. tasty's is on the opposite end of the spectrum from fine dining, but as far as i can tell, it is the very home of real food in the fernandina area. i had the 1/2 pound double patty as a bacon cheddar burger, and mrs buddha had a spectacular ahi tuna burger. these were both asgoodas these things get. the fries were also the real deal. the fellow at the counter we ordered from was friendly and helpful, and our orders were delivered quickly as exactly as ordered. the menu also has hot dogs and other items you'd expect to find at a burger joint, as well as items such as sweet potato fries and the ahi burger mrs buddha enjoyed.

now you're not going to want to go to a burger joint for those special meals, and tasty's is no rival for salt, merge, or espana for that nice dinner out, but if you're looking for casual and reasonable, as well as simple but excellent food prepared expertly, tasty's is your man.

see my review at the beginning of the month? well its now the end of the month, and i have enjoyed five tasty burgers since then. i dont care if i have to park on the roof. each one as "tasty" as the last. ok so now an obsession of mine. in my top five of all time. you looked them up on urbanspoon and read the reviews just eat their already, ok!

been by a thousand times and parking was always a nightmare so i never stopped, rookie mistake.today i lucked out on a sunday at 2pm with parking so enough was enough. plus i have yet to find "the burger" to satisfy my fix. ordered a double cheese and chili cheese fries with jalapinos. i recommend the cheese on the side as they sog up the fries quick. the fries were great with chili seasoning and cheedar cheese sauce all over. the burger was all the way with tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, and special sauce. they have the size of veggies down to just enough so not to overwhelm the burger or your mouth. the meat had agoodcrust and juicy hot from the flat top. the sauce was like a mix of ketcup, mayo, garlic, and chili powder which lent enough seasoning as not to cover the burger with ketcup or mustard. the seasoning on that steel will grow with time and only make them even better. the atmosphere is great, an old gas station with seating inside and out. great place for a great burger that is in my top five of all time.

delicious food, subpar service. currently on vacation here on amelia island... and the food isgoodenough that we've eaten there 3x this week. the beef patties are similar to steak 'n shake style. the fries are the best i've ever eaten--way better than five guy's. the chili on the chili cheddar burger is homemade and delicious. turkey teriyaki burger was super tasty--i'd go as far as saying addictive. if you're looking for something fattening/comforting...the chili dusted cheddar fries hit the spot. the only disappointing part of the dining experience is the front counter help...the front of house staff seem to be high school students that are not familiar with the menu and are easily distracted by school friends coming in and out of the restaurant. just be sure to spell out exactly what you are wanting to order...next time i will probably point on the menu to exactly what i'm ordering. as expected with teen employees, their work ethic just hasn't developed but at the same time you have to admire the establishment for giving teens a chance to get some work experience.

tastys is yummy!!!. had lunch there today... it was fantastic.... fresh meat, not frozen patties.... great flavor, friendly service... very kid friendly environment. burgers were great, fries were great...goodportions for price. great milkshakes too...

had lunch yesterday. the best hamburger ever. sweet potato fries with some sort of dip that was togoodto explain. the service and staff were near perfect. what else can i say? anytime i'm close, i'll have lunch at this 5***** star unique little burger place.

i think tasty's is agoodidea for those seeking a casual burger experience. being vegetarian i cannot critique the meat burgers, but my husband did enjoy his. i had the veggie burger and was not crazy about it but the spicy sweet potato fries are delicious! my teen sons and their friends love this place and the owner, katy, was super when i needed a gift card and they had already closed for the day. it is clean, friendly service, and worth a visit if you are a burger lover.

very good!. great burgers! nice charred beef,goodflavor, grilled bun, fresh tomato & lettuce. it comes with a tasty sauce- sort of like remoulad. only cheese choice is american. fries are very good. i have had plain & the parmesan ones- sprinkled with parm cheese & homemade marinara on them. it was a little too much marinara for me- but the flavor of the marinara was fresh & yummy. double burger, regular burger, fries, 2 glasses of wine = $25.goodservice; very clean; casual atmosphere; simple with some local art on the walls. one tv for scores & updates. suggestion- daytime they get lots of natural lighting, but at night tone down the lighting (flourescent is too strong). they have hot dogs, shrimp roll, turkey burger, veggie burger, 2 other types of fries (old bay and chili cheese maybe?) and i want to say maybe a salad too. oh, and milkshakes. rivals 5 guys. i liked it better than t rays.

an instant fixture. tasty's pitches itself as "a fresh alternative to fast food". it's a modern version of a vintage burger stand. it's definitely better than fast food chains, tastier and more authentic, and you feel much better eating there than down the street at the chains. it feels like more of a neighborhood gathering place, and since it's right there on centre across from the farmers market on saturdays, it has a really nice community feel and a classic one at that. plus the people are really nice.

the burgers are cooked nicely, have a flavorful char, and come out piping hot. the buns are nicer and somehow softer and with a butterier crust than your usual fast food stiff sponge. the fries aregoodand they've got sweet potato or regular as well as various flavorings. great shakes and a nice beer selection. they've got other items on the menu such as hot dogs and shrimp rolls but for me it will be a burger destination.

two visits. i never like to give a review to a new local place based on one visit, especially when they have just recently opened and might still be working out the kinks. so i chalked up my first visit which was less than ideal to a variety of factors and decided to wait until after my second visit.
both visits before the new year took place about 1:30 and the place was quite busy with standing room only although i was able to get a seat by the time my food was ready. know the weather this time of the year is iffy, but on both visits the outside temperature was comfortable and suitable for outside dining, but there was only 1 table outside.
cheeseburgers i ordered weregoodbut the hot patty cooled quickly due to the very cold lettuce, tomato and bun it was placed inside. would be nice to offer a toasted bun as an option and should use the lettuce against the patty and then the tomato to keep the patty as warm as possible. patty doneness was a medium in both visits and quite juicy.
tasty fries weregoodbut didn't rate them as exceptional. also, either i was portion shorted on both my visits or their serving container is too large as both times the container only appeared about 2/3 full. like the self-serve soda dispenser. nice selection of specialty beers.
might suggest that instead of taking names for order delivery, give a numbered stand (ala parkway grill) to eliminate any confusion and eliminate the calling out of names. on my first visit, my order was accidently claimed initially by another person with the same name and was handled so my order had to be resubmitted resulting in additional wait time and extra expense to restaurtant.
staff was very friendly and energetic. would be nice if they could fit in some more tables for those busy times which i am sure they will continue to have.

amazing burgers and fries. amazing burgers and fries. head cook is really a gourmet chef and it shows. very inexpensive and the perfect destination place for a weekend road trip. have somegoodfood and then shop the quaint historic district.
