thisplaceis worth finding. it's in a very nondescript building that you will drive right by if you aren't looking for it. do yourself a favor and look. inside seating is limited but there is ample seating. service when we went was a little slow, because it's a smallplacethey only had one server, but it wasn't too bad. the food was terrific. i got the flautas and hawaiian and both were terrific. to me this is more of a lunch spot as the portions were smaller and they don't come with sides. this is the only reason i rated it as i did because for a dinner portion there wasn't enough for me. i will return there for lunch though and it's definitely worth a stop if you like authentic mexican food.

+fresh, authentic food.  this is a great place.  family based , delicious homemade food.  the little building that it is in, makes the place, and food even better.  just a cozy, littleplaceto eat great food.  i had the gordito with the corn tortillia, chicken, onions, cilantro, cheese.  also, had a side of guacamole, chips and salsa.  yum!!!!!carol lehmkuhl

a local legend that kickstarted the mainstream appeal of authentic taco places in chattanooga, taqueria jalisco has become a must-have staple for foodies in the surrounding area. i've tried pretty much all of the toppings for the tacos saves jalapeno, and they are all awesome! chicken, of course, is a favorite of mine! as always, a taqueria is only as good as its salsa, so fittingly, taqueria jalisco's salsa is simply incredible! with some of the best food downtown, and indisputably some of the best prices, here's hoping that thisplacestays around for centuries to come!

best authentic mexican in chattanooga. thisplaceis amazing. if you are use to taco bell gorditas and chalupas then you probably won't recognize them when you order them at jalisco, but the flavor noticeably better. i traditionally go for the beef and chorizo tacos, but i recently had a steak and chorizo burrito which was amazing. their tomatillo and red sauces are probably the best in town. i smother my food with them. the staff is a joy to interact with, and will seek to make it a wonderful experience. only draw back is that it is a small dining space and sometimes too crowded at lunch time to feel comfortable. however, you can always just get it to go!

que rico!. aye dios mio!
thisplaceis sexy!
rarely will i loose my cool when i am at a restaurant, but i almost ran around in circles after biting the barbacoa on a sope. fresh salsa verde, chile, cilantro, lime, tinga! i don't care what you eat, its gonna be good.
advice: branch out. don't go wanting your guadalajara especial with a swimming pool of cheese.
bring a six back of modelo (byob) and order something you've never had (real gordita, lengua, whatever!) go crazy!
its not too expensive and you payed ticket price or your booze.
good luck.

carne asada.... was a real let down. it was not skirt steak as listed on the menu but instead a piece of thinly sliced top round. i probably should have mentioned it but i did not. theplacewas packed but they have a really small seating area. i suggest that one stick to the tacos for the first visit. i will probably try another entree, but not the carne asada. the guacamole was really good today. the sopes got a good vote today and the gordita a vote down.

nice little place.... for fresh mexican food. usually i head to dalton for what one might consider real mexican food at a small family owned restaurant but this is one exception. i really like the food. for those that are troubled by greasy chorizo, you will be pleased to know that is not the case at taqueria jalisco. i have only been once for tacos with a side of chiles toreados but i will be back to try the carne asada as it is something i use to gauge a mexican restaurant. the service is just so so. another visit could be telling ???
