good indeed. we dropped in for a late lunch today with three of our favorite dining pals. two had been here a couple of times and were impressed enough to set up a meet. i am glad they did.
i brought a sixer of tecate and mr. g brought bohemia so we were set for beer. the ladies variously had diet coke and water. we started with chips and salsa and an order of guacamole. the folks who had been here previously said they had not enjoyed the guac the time they ordered. this time it was good, just added a bit of lime juice to make sure it was awake. the standard red salsa served with the chips was no big deal, but the bottled red sauce definitely had some heat and the green salsa was wonderfully tangy with the flavor of tomatillos.
my order was mexican style tacos; one each chorizo, pastor and shrimp. thechorizowas excellent, well flavored and not dripping grease. the pastor was good but not up to the class of the chorizo, the shrimp was tasty enough but slightly overcooked and a bit dry. mrs. bear had a mango, avocado and seafood ceviche which was very nice, two others in the party had this dish and enjoyed it as well. mrs. bear also ordered a chicken sope which was quite good as well.
all in all just shy of excellent. the dry shrimp and the lack of a protein any more adventurous than lengua were disappointing, but we will be back.
