this place is worth finding. it's in a very nondescript building that you will drive right by if you aren't looking for it. do yourself a favor and look. inside seating is limited but there is ample seating. service when we went was a little slow, because it's a small place they only had one server, but it wasn't too bad. the food was terrific. i got the flautas and hawaiian and both were terrific. to me this is more of a lunch spot as the portions were smaller and they don't come with sides. this is the only reason i rated it as i did because for a dinner portion there wasn't enough for me. i will return there for lunch though and it's definitely worth a stop if you like authenticmexicanfood.

i am a fan of authenticmexicanfood. i frequent la altena, conga (el salvador), hole in the wall latin joints.
bad service, bad service, bad service. food was "meh". i won't be back. get some help or get a better attitude. full of local southside "wanna be" hipsters.

authentic and amazing.. for a long time i've looked for good authenticmexicanfood and this is the place. bestmexicani've ever had since i moved from the mexico/texas border. awesome prices, great service, good selections and amazing food. they even hadmexicansodas! i am never disappointed. my boyfriend and i come here once a week. my only complaint is that sometimes they close early randomly and they don't serve alcohol.

taqueria jaliscomexicanrestaurant. on friday, a friend and i dined at taqueria jalisco, just off of main street in chattanooga, tn. i have been going there since it opened and have found it to be my favoritemexicanrestaurant. the menu has not change much but the flavor profiles have. my go to is the beef burrito and order it just about every time. their red salsa goes great with the chips that come with the meal but it is was even better on the burrito. be sure to try one of the local sodas from pure sodaworks.

taqueria jalisco is very small with only 5 or 6 tables inside, with more tables on their patio. being so small gives you more of a home-style feel. it’s like being invited to their home for lunch and the food taste like home made. they have the best authenticmexicanfood in town. there are also a couple tables outside the restaurant for the sidewalk café feel. the staff is always friendly and service is fast.

taqueria jalisco started out with just a small food truck and then expanded into a storefront at 1634 rossville ave. now, owners are adding a second location in miller plaza and should be open by the end of april. this is one not to be missed.

best authenticmexicanin chattanooga. this place is amazing. if you are use to taco bell gorditas and chalupas then you probably won't recognize them when you order them at jalisco, but the flavor noticeably better. i traditionally go for the beef and chorizo tacos, but i recently had a steak and chorizo burrito which was amazing. their tomatillo and red sauces are probably the best in town. i smother my food with them. the staff is a joy to interact with, and will seek to make it a wonderful experience. only draw back is that it is a small dining space and sometimes too crowded at lunch time to feel comfortable. however, you can always just get it to go!

good indeed. we dropped in for a late lunch today with three of our favorite dining pals. two had been here a couple of times and were impressed enough to set up a meet. i am glad they did.

i brought a sixer of tecate and mr. g brought bohemia so we were set for beer. the ladies variously had diet coke and water. we started with chips and salsa and an order of guacamole. the folks who had been here previously said they had not enjoyed the guac the time they ordered. this time it was good, just added a bit of lime juice to make sure it was awake. the standard red salsa served with the chips was no big deal, but the bottled red sauce definitely had some heat and the green salsa was wonderfully tangy with the flavor of tomatillos.

my order wasmexicanstyle tacos; one each chorizo, pastor and shrimp. the chorizo was excellent, well flavored and not dripping grease. the pastor was good but not up to the class of the chorizo, the shrimp was tasty enough but slightly overcooked and a bit dry. mrs. bear had a mango, avocado and seafood ceviche which was very nice, two others in the party had this dish and enjoyed it as well. mrs. bear also ordered a chicken sope which was quite good as well.

all in all just shy of excellent. the dry shrimp and the lack of a protein any more adventurous than lengua were disappointing, but we will be back.

carne asada.... was a real let down. it was not skirt steak as listed on the menu but instead a piece of thinly sliced top round. i probably should have mentioned it but i did not. the place was packed but they have a really small seating area. i suggest that one stick to the tacos for the first visit. i will probably try another entree, but not the carne asada. the guacamole was really good today. the sopes got a good vote today and the gordita a vote down.

nice little place.... for freshmexicanfood. usually i head to dalton for what one might consider realmexicanfood at a small family owned restaurant but this is one exception. i really like the food. for those that are troubled by greasy chorizo, you will be pleased to know that is not the case at taqueria jalisco. i have only been once for tacos with a side of chiles toreados but i will be back to try the carne asada as it is something i use to gauge amexicanrestaurant. the service is just so so. another visit could be telling ???

pupusa with a purpose-this is the family owned business that has been in chattanooga for years. they have been in several locations and a long time favorite at the chattanooga market. the food is fresh and well prepared. daily tamale specials and $1.00 tacos on fridays. the pupusa's are my favorite-seating is limited but they have takeout and the service is excellent.mexicanstyle tacos are awesome
