que rico!. aye dios mio!
this place is sexy!
rarely will i loose my cool when i am at a restaurant, but i almost ran around in circles after biting the barbacoa on a sope. fresh salsa verde, chile, cilantro, lime, tinga! i don't care what you eat, its gonna be good.
advice: branch out. don't go wanting your guadalajara especial with a swimming pool of cheese.
bring a six back of modelo (byob) and order something you've never had (real gordita, lengua, whatever!) go crazy!
its not too expensive and you payed ticket price or your booze.
good luck.

good indeed. we dropped in for a late lunch today with three of our favorite dining pals. two had been here a couple of times and were impressed enough to set up a meet. i am glad they did.

i brought a sixer of tecate and mr. g brought bohemia so we were set for beer. the ladies variously had diet coke and water. we started with chips and salsa and an order of guacamole. the folks who had been here previously said they had not enjoyed the guac the time they ordered. this time it was good, just added a bit of lime juice to make sure it was awake. the standard red salsa served with the chips was no big deal, but the bottled red sauce definitely had some heat and the green salsa was wonderfully tangy with the flavor of tomatillos.

my order was mexican style tacos; one each chorizo, pastor and shrimp. the chorizo was excellent, well flavored and not dripping grease. the pastor was good but not up to the class of the chorizo, the shrimp was tasty enough but slightly overcooked and a bit dry. mrs. bear had a mango, avocado and seafood ceviche which was very nice, two others in the party had this dish and enjoyed it as well. mrs. bear also ordered a chicken sope which was quite good as well.

all in all just shy of excellent. the dry shrimp and the lack of a protein any more adventurous than lengua were disappointing, but we will be back.

so authentic, sooo good.. a) you can bring your own beer to this place. i love that.
b)the "mexican" style tacos are awesome, namely the chorizo taco, you've never had anything like it. the chorizo is so flavorful and crispy and the onion and cilantro so fresh, and the corn tortillas have that soft wonderful chew to them.
c)the people here are always friendly and fun.
d) not overpriced. all around win.

delicious and fresh! please don't go expecting your typical cheese covered "mexican" dish because it is so much better than that! i had the mole tamal, tilapia taco and barbacoa taco and all three were so good that i couldn't pick a favorite. support local and go try this place!

carne asada.... was a real let down. it was not skirt steak as listed on the menu but instead a piece of thinly sliced top round. i probably should have mentioned it but i did not. the place was packed but they have a really small seating area. i suggest that one stick to the tacos for the first visit. i will probably try another entree, but not the carne asada. the guacamole was really good today. the sopes got a good vote today and the gordita a vote down.

nice little place.... for fresh mexican food. usually i head to dalton for what one might consider real mexican food at a small family owned restaurant but this is one exception. i really like the food. for those that are troubled by greasy chorizo, you will be pleased to know that is not the case at taqueria jalisco. i have only been once for tacos with a side of chiles toreados but i will be back to try the carne asada as it is something i use to gauge a mexican restaurant. the service is just so so. another visit could be telling ???

pupusa with a purpose-this is the family owned business that has been in chattanooga for years. they have been in several locations and a long time favorite at the chattanooga market. the food is fresh and well prepared. daily tamale specials and $1.00 tacos on fridays. the pupusa's are my favorite-seating is limited but they have takeout and the service is excellent. mexican style tacos are awesome
