i went to tangerine last sunday for brunch with a friend. i orders a side pancake with a couple of other items. when the guy brought our food out, i wasn't sure if i had told the waitress to make the pancakeglutenfree. i asked the server if it was in factglutenfree and he said he would check with the cook to make sure. i told him i have an auto-immune disorder and can't have any gluten. he came back and assured me it was theglutenfree pancake. well, it wasn't. by that evening i was feeling some digestive distress and by the next morning i broke out in a psoriasis around my mouth (only something that happens when i eat gluten) and other symptoms. i called to speak with the manager...not to make a stink but to let him know how important it was for the staff to know they have to be careful withglutenfor some customers. the manager proceeded to tell me that the servers are young and they aren't always careful. he tries to tell them to pay attention but they don't always listen. there was no accountability from the manager or responsibility for his lack of training his staff. glutenfor people with celiac and other auto-immune disorders can reek havoc on their entire body for up to 3 months when they digest it. tangerines is a restaurant who touts themselves as beingglutenconscious but if you can't trust what the staff says and the manager has a "shit happens" attitude, then this is not a restaurant to trust.
