the empanadas were great, but they were out of pretty much every taco on theirmenuat 7pm on a friday night. the meat on the tacos we did get was dry and salty. probably won't go back.

5 out of 5 sprouts there is an explosion of unique and trendy restaurants in orlando.  the city is a well-known mecca of roller coasters and big furry characters but did you know there is hardly a cuisine you can’t find here  take tako cheena for example- a fusion of asian and mexican culture that is popular for business lunches and late-night munchies. themenuis mostly tacos and at $2.80-3.50 a pop, one can really mix and match to customize a unique and flavorful meal.  the most popular choice is the pano crusted cod taco - big lightly fried pieces of fish mixed with cabbage and scallions.  this is not your average fish taco- there is a sweet and sour onion sauce here that adds an asian twist and elevates this taco to superstar status. another popular choice is the thai peanut chicken taco - or in our case- the thai peanut tofu taco .  sauteed tofu with a cilantro cabbage mix and crushed peanuts stuffed into a flour tortilla.  one thing tako cheena does is stuff the tortilla.  it’s

all around awesomeness!. i went here for the first time saturday night, and i was blown away! i cannot wait to come back to this wonderful place.

totally hip, eclectic environment. small area yet doesn't feel overwhelming or crowded even when full. the vibe of the place is casual, comfortable, inviting, yet very cool. it's open late night, so this is a happening spot to begin or end your night. (closed mondays- take note)

i went with a few friends for a bite to eat after going out saturday night, and it was a perfect end to the evening. our server, a cute younger female in great stockings, was extremely friendly and accommodating (she moved tables together for us in the middle of a rush and didn't blink an eye about taking on a rowdy party of 6 at 1:30am). i wish we remembered her name, but she has short bangs and was excellent - i'll definitely try to get into her section next time!

on to the food: the 3 taco combo (thai peanut chicken) was delicious and filling (my companion described it as better than sex) - super full of flavor. my buddhist friend got the tofu tacos and said it was fantastic- if more people tried it they wouldn't miss meat so much! i had a burrito (i don't remember what it's called but it was an indian-inspired samosa tasting delicious experience). we tried a few other things but these were our standouts! there isn't an item on thatmenuthat i wouldn't try based on my first experience here - if they were open today i'd be there right now!

overall- great place. everyone should try this great little gem in the mills/50 area.

consistent and delicious. i tried to eat at tako cheena tonight (my girlfriend and i come here often when in town) and it was to my dismay closed! i ate a deplorable meal at bananas next door instead and made this account to write a bad review for them, but figured i might as well give tako cheena a positive one because i have had so many positive experiences here. the food is affordable and the food is an interesting blend of mexican and asian flavors. my favorites are the curry dusted tofu taco, the asian braised beef taco, and the bahi mi asian hot dog. you cant really go wrong with anything on themenuhere. did i mention its byob and open till 4am?!

i wish this place was better. i love pom's teahouse and sandwicheria. anyone that comes into town, i have to take them there to show them a place that is uniquely "orlando." for this reason, tako cheena was incredibly disappointing to me. i went there for the first time immediately following their opening, and was unimpressed. i thought that this might be due to themenunot being completely solidified yet. however, i've been back 2-3 more times since and been similarly underwhelmed. the food isn't bad, at all. it's just.. plain. bland. mind you, the ideas are really creative. who doesn't want a bulgogi burrito? i think the main issue is that the only flavor profile is "savory." there is rarely sweetness or spiciness, and there is never any acid. a simple lime served to the side of any taco, to be squeezed over the dish, would dramatically improve the experience. if you do go, get the panko crusted cod. that's the only thing that turns out pretty ok. again, i'm not hating on this restaurant. i want it to be good. i love the company and the concept. i just can't love the bland food.

what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words tako cheena? i think it's safe to assume that most people would envision a mexican-asian fusion or, as i like to say mexicasian (mexi-kasian). tako cheena is the new concept from pom moongauklang, owner of the awesome pom pom's teahouse and sandwicheria . this is a very small and cozy place where pom spends most of her time cooking up interesting and eclectic combinations using asian and latin flavors. theirmenuis composed of tacos, empanadas, asian hot dogs, burritos and desserts. you can order tacos individually or orders of three-tacos each. the tacos are smaller in size where most people could eat two or three, while the empanadas, burritos and hot dogs are larger items. i've had about every taco on themenuand i can say i've liked just about all of them, with the india yellow curry crispy tofu

tako cheena is exactly what they say they are. a food truck on wheels. the restaurant has improved since it opened. they just added more tables. ever since i first visited i have enjoyed the ambiance of the dining room, casual yet sefisticated. oh and the most important part, the food! everything on themenuis good. and when i say everything, i mean everything. every sauce, every taco, burrito, empanada, and desserts. the only slightly negative thing i have to say about taki cheena is that my favorite sauce runs out frequently. that being as it may, the other sauces are also yummy. and also, for a new local buisness, this place is doing well, and expanding rapidly.

awkward. when we came in, we all ordered water, assuming they served tap water. this was not the case, as she brought out 5 bottled waters. when we told her we meant tap water, she got on her high horse and explained to us how the tap water was unfiltered. her tone was very condescending, which already guaranteed that she wouldn't get tipped. also, since the place was cash only (really?), i was only able to get a beef empanada, even though as ucf knight said in the previous review, themenuclearly said two empanadas for 1.75. when the food came out, we all tried each others food, which completely lacked flavor.

overall, the service was icy and pretentious, and the food was forgettable and lacked imagination. i have a feeling this place will not last very long.

flavorful street food, but......... i went to tako cheena last week with a friend. there are things i like about it and things i don't. first, the empanadas and takos i ate were delicious, flavorful, somewhat exotic, and packed full of fresh ingredients.

the dining room is very small and they only serve bottled beverages and flavored sodas. i am not a fan of that. they also only accept cash. our "server" was a very friendly girl.

however, the big thing that turned me off......the empanadas are advertised on the printedmenuas "2 for $1.75." the "server" explained that they are now "1 for $1.75" and that themenuwas never changed. um, i have a huge problem with false advertising. change themenuor honor what is printed.....very simple, actually. establishments get fined for deceptive practices like that.

flavorful street food, small menu, and deceptive pricing.....that is what tako cheena should be known for.

tako cheena by pom pom is located in the mills 50 district on north mills avenue (us highway 17-92) between east marks street and weber street.
