really good food and mediocore service. my first trip here i had decent service but the waitress seemed very lost and more anxious to leave halfway through our visit. nonetheless, the tacos are awesome! i never tried tofu before my visit but the tofu curry tacos aregreatand the same goes for the thai peanut chicken tacos. if anything, skip out on the expensive and rather bland empanadas.

nom, nom, nom! yum, yum, yum!!!. i had driven past here a few times. i read agreatreview about this place. my friends have raved about this place. we go out to eat & forget to go here, but not this time!!!
finally i make it there!! my friends took me here one day when they were off & i was home, but my boyfriend unfortunately missed out. not to worry.... we will certainly be returning!!!
i was told how sizable the takos were so i only got 2. i got the panko crusted cod tako & the thai peanut chicken tako, & a side of the tomatillo & kefir lime leaf sauce cuz it sounded scrumptious (it was!!). the sauces that came on the individual takos were incredible. the cod was my fav. and the thai chicken was yummy too.
my friend got the chinese bbq char siu pork belly tako & he said he's had it before & it was incredible. i will have to try that another time. and i'm looking forward to trying the indian butter chicken burrito, but the cod was & is my fav so it will be hard to beat out. :-)
btw..... please consider bringing back the jarrito sodas, orangina, & mexican coke. they would be awesome. as well as some fresh brewed tea :-)

great cheap eats. if you've never been to tako cheena, and you like street food with a gourmet twist, you need to go to tako cheena. the tacos are around $3 each, and are delicious. highly recommend the asian beef. the arepas are very greasy (compared to traditional real venezuelan ones) and are definitely a gut bomb. service is decent, although last night i asked for a water and one taco, and never got my water, had to get it myself.greatplace overall.

all around awesomeness!. i went here for the first time saturday night, and i was blown away! i cannot wait to come back to this wonderful place.

totally hip, eclectic environment. small area yet doesn't feel overwhelming or crowded even when full. the vibe of the place is casual, comfortable, inviting, yet very cool. it's open late night, so this is a happening spot to begin or end your night. (closed mondays- take note)

i went with a few friends for a bite to eat after going out saturday night, and it was a perfect end to the evening. our server, a cute younger female ingreatstockings, was extremely friendly and accommodating (she moved tables together for us in the middle of a rush and didn't blink an eye about taking on a rowdy party of 6 at 1:30am). i wish we remembered her name, but she has short bangs and was excellent - i'll definitely try to get into her section next time!

on to the food: the 3 taco combo (thai peanut chicken) was delicious and filling (my companion described it as better than sex) - super full of flavor. my buddhist friend got the tofu tacos and said it was fantastic- if more people tried it they wouldn't miss meat so much! i had a burrito (i don't remember what it's called but it was an indian-inspired samosa tasting delicious experience). we tried a few other things but these were our standouts! there isn't an item on that menu that i wouldn't try based on my first experience here - if they were open today i'd be there right now!

overall-greatplace. everyone should try thisgreatlittle gem in the mills/50 area.

10 out of 10. must vehemently disagree with joe below me.

i have had tremendous food here and it is one of my favorite places to eat in all of orlando. in a conversation with 4rivers, boston's fish house, and the ravenous pig as some of the best eats in all of orlando. the veggie empanada is amazing and im not even vegetarian, the chorizo tacos featured on special were incredible.greatway to support local business. i prefer tako cheena to pom poms even!

we arrived at 11:00am. we were one of the first people there but it started getting busy immediately. i am a fan of small menus. i like to get straight to the point and order. we started out with korean beef and chinese bbq takos, buffalo chicken empanadas, and indian butter chicken burrito. the takos were the first to be devoured. the taste was amazing. it truly is restaurant meets food truck as they claim on their window. i then tried the empanada. wifey was not a fan. as a latino i can eat anything fried. couldn't really taste the buffalo chicken but it was tasty. last, we tried the burrito. although the indian butter chicken burrito was good it contained too much rice and way too little chicken. i felt i was eating a rice burrito. it also needed a bit more flavor but wifey ordered three different sauces and she made her own concoction. overall, greatplace, greatambience, music was loud but bearable. service wasgreatand quick. four thumbs up. (two from wifey)

tako cheena- a preliminary impression. pom moongauklang's new concept will be opening in august. it's not far from her well-known pom pom's teahouse and sandwicheria- about 2 miles away. what i found curious was that this concept seems to reflect on her old new york stomping grounds at nobu- where matsuhisha's latin-asian prowess resonate as reminders of her own past. but that's where the similarity stops- pom's vision is for the masses. a mere $2-$6 for a filling bite compared to the benjamins you'd shuck out over a michelin star chef.

i was lucky enough to try some of her ideas while doing a short video of tako cheena on youtube. don't hate- seriously, wish i could send all of you a 'wish you were there' postcard. her restaurant concept may not arguably be the first in orlando, but it is definitely the frontrunner in creativity.

the tuna 'tataki' was exceptionally good. lemongrass-infused avocado, cabbage, and freshly caught tuna (her friend caught and gifted it to her) marinated in a thai spice blend formed the foundation of taco. ginger and scallions splayed the dish with additional flavor dimensions. one note: the guava-salsa that accompanies this dish may enjoyed better on the side. i think the flavors were delightfully deep and savory- the salsa was appending a sweet profile that could be skipped. adventurous seafood lovers will really dig the seriously (and almost-deafening) mouth-feel on this taco.
the crispy fried tofu will find fans in some vegetarians. crispy breading generously slapped on with asian spices was an interestingly 'intense' experience that some people would not imagine tofu to possess. imbued with smoky curry powder, it wasn't my personal favorite, but i can see others going gaga over its taste and vegan-friendliness.

in a nutshell: tako cheena's message is simple- explore the flavors of the world on a few dollars. this is agreatway to introduce some of your friends to exotic flavors and pom would probably smile if she saw you doing that. tako cheena will be on 932 mills avenue. the space is small but will boast local artwork and well as monthly artist gatherings. realize that this is a completely different concept from the teahouse (brooklyners will be surprised to know that there may a pom teahouse opening soon in their new york neighborhood). catering will be available.
