cool place, service lacking. gotta love sangria when it's half-price! (especially when other drink options were overpriced in my opinion.)

loved the fish taco. oh and the royale taco was also fabulous. my fave i think was the caribbean jerk taco with the mango and peach. very yummy!

server was friendly enough but could have been speedier and more attentive.

absolutely love!. i love taco mamacita's. their black bean taco's are the best vegetarian taco's i have ever had. i also recommend their guacamole, and queso fundido. everything on their menu is delicious. besides the food, their drinks are wonderful. the skinny margarita is my favorite. there is usually a crowd but they do the best they can to get you seated.

just alright. i had decided to withold my original review of taco mamacita's until i had a couple more visits under my belt. with four experiences to expound upon, here i go.

the best part of taco mamacita's is the decor. very edgy, interesting, and great for conversation starters.

i've had the peruvian chicken, the brisket rancheros, and a couple combinations of tacos. the peruvian chicken was, hands down, the best. very tasty chicken, not overcooked, amazing marinade. the brisket rancheros is tasty, but was a bit cooler than i would have preferred. the tacos are alright, but in my opinion $4.00 is too pricey for a taco.

i've tried a couple margaritas as well, the most memorable being the cadillac. the skinny left me wondering if the lack of calories had to do with the lack of tequila. the sangria is kool-aid-ish, and my dining companion had a less than bright response to the el camino.

this seems to be another nashville restaurant trying really hard to be an urban hotspot. i didn't buy it.

tries a little to hard to be different.... driving thru nashville and picked taco mamacitas bc of the good reviews without looking at the menu. a very 'cutesy' restaurant with an excellent atmosphere and quick friendly service. in my opinion they try a little too hard to be anything but original mexican as i would have known if i had looked at the menu. the food isn't bad but it isn't anything to write home about. too expensive for what you get. 7.99 for the guacamole is outrageous for the very small bowl you get that lacks flavor. next time through nashville i'll be trying something else.

very good meal. tried this place today after reading the reviews. great fresh guacamole, delicious turnip greens, and had two tacos: the royale and the fish. fish wasn't the best i've had but still very enjoyable. royale is a white flour tortilla wrapped around a blue corn tortilla with a bunch of stuff inside. had a good flavor. only complaint was the tea, which was an atrocity if it's always prepared like that. friendly server took it off my tab and offered great service. would return to try the peruvian chicken.

good food, slow service. we went to this restaurant a few weeks ago to enjoy a sunny saturday afternoon. unfortunately it took way too long to get drinks (about 20 minutes after we first sat down) and everyone was getting quite antsy. refills took the same amount of time. the food was good once it was received but by then we were displeased with the overall service. i was hoping that this was just due to a bad day but a co-worker went this past week and had the same complaint. i will probably wait another year before going back, hopefully they will have these kinks worked out.

good lunch spot. it's a quick walk from vandy and has great lunch specials. you can get 2 taco's plus a side for $8.99 and on wednesdays you can get a margarita 1/2 off after 4pm.

but be prepared to wait to be seated.
oh and you have to pay for a side of chips.

eat the fish tacos!!. the fish tacos were really good! my friend also liked the taco royale. my husband hated his oy vay taco, but i think it was because he isn't a fan of brisket. (he'd never had it until then). the queso dip was really good, but i make better guacamole at home. it needed more lemon juice and salt, and there were massive chunks of avacado in it. i realize there should be some, but these were seriously big pieces--chip breaking pieces. we did order about twenty minutes before closing time so it's possible they just had to make enough for our order?? i was craving fish tacos, so even though some of the other items weren't fantastic, i was happy with the meal.

nashville location.... hmmm...i really wanted to love this place...especially after reading a fantastic review in the paper. after getting my fiance and kids together and trekking down to nashville (an hour from home) i was looking forward to a nice evening before he had to work a night shift. the area is great...we loved looking around at all the nifty little art studios nearby, but the wait...oh the wait....what was supposed to be 45 mins to an hour turned into well over an hour and a half. they did accomodate us by letting us order some chips and queso in the hall waiting area just out of the entrance, but we finished with that in no time. my fiance ended up having to leave for work after an hour knowing full well we wouldn't be done in time. after our hour and a half wait (everyone in the hall took notice of our chips and ordered there own! one other party of friends started leaving because they no longer believed the hostess would ever seat them...) long story short...the food was good...although the peruvian chicken i so anticipated was no longer available by the time we were seated (grrrr!) and while the tacos were good, they weren't the amazing examples of mexican food i thought they'd be. it did seem all the food was a bit spicier than i personally prefer, but not too spicy i couldn't enjoy it. the service was friendly and "ok"...it wasn't as prompt as i'd like though. all in all it's a good restaurant, but unfortunately, it wasn't/isn't worth an hour and a half wait. if you go...don't make plans til way after dinner...otherwise you'll be late.

not a good first impression. i had heard a lot about this place and wanted to like it. turned in to a bad experience. the fish taco was waded down in sauce to the point where i opened up to shell and just ate the three small pieces of fish. the california taco was better but still very small for $3.50 a taco. way too expensive and busy for the taste. would not recommend.

taco mamacita - tasted ok - overpriced & noisy. we went on a cool/cold evening and were seated right by the door and everytime the door opened, we were chilled. i never took my coat off. the rice was too garlicky. the veggie taco was bland and too sweet with the plaintains (maduros). overpriced for what we got. acoustics are bad - gets noisy fast!

over priced tex mex. if you want authentic or close to it, don't come here. limited selection of food and beer. had a nice drink menu, but had to order off of a coppied sheet of paper with half the selection crossed out. only pale ale or stout beers. salsa verde was out of the can. pico was ok. very over priced for the quantity you get. service was good.
