outstanding. we make several trips a year up to nc. part of our tradition is to stop for dinner in savannah. we wanted to try a restaurant away from the historical district. after reading many reviews, we settled on sweet potatoes. what a great find.
linda, our waitress, was pleasant and helpful. the biscuits were light and just out of the oven. i had the blackened tilapia with roasted corn salsa, corn pudding and beans and rice. my wife had the salmon cakes, potatoe fries and brussel spouts. each was excellent in their own way. for dessert i tried the banana pudding. while i like my pudding warm, the pudding was truly exceptional.
we can't wait to return to the area to try other menu items.

fried chicken and mac and cheese days are my favorite! and without fail- i always order the banana pudding. even if i'm to full to eat it. it's a great snack for later.

eh, alright. not sure what all the rave is about, peach glazed chicken was - eh alright, but if i come back, wouldn't order it again. cream peas were watery, sweet potato fries were not bad. but the banana pudding - really good. service was friendly and the owner (i think) very engaged and courteous. atmosphere was like an old retirement center, what topped it off was when the cook came out with plunger in hand to unclog the lady's toilet. think i'll keep on looking.

please don't judge a book by its cover. that's what i say about this place. off the beat and path but great food. it was nice to find a really good southern cooking place to eat. we will back when we are in town. we have added it to "one of our favorites places to eat" in savannah!

this hole in the wall restaurant is a must try when you are in the savannah area. if they are offering fried chicken that day, order it! also, the peach bbq chicken is amazing, order a side of sweet potato fries to make your meal even better. saving room for the banana pudding is well worth it!!

a must visit when in savannah. if it were not for reviews on multiple sites, my wife and i would likely not have bothered with this place. it is out of the way in a neighborhood which is likely not often visited by tourists. i'm very glad we did, though, as the food, service and atmosphere were excellent.

yum!!!. my fiancé's first time to savannah, first official meal to a nice get away weekend. the menu was so jam packed with great choices, we asked for help from our server. our server was friendly and made the whole experience wonderful. we had different meals, but similar side items( choice of 2 with a meal). i had fried catfish( not very fond of it normally) suggested by our server as one of her favorites. almost melted in my mouth with their homemade tartar sauce. corn souffle and baked sweet potato with sweet praline butter sauce.
we ended with a peach cobbler that almost made me a convert to live here for the rest of my life(ga). i also heard the banana pudding is awesome too.
highly recommend and will make this a regular stop on trips up/down 95..

nice atmosphere, delicious food, and fast. i can't seem to get used to the pace of slow-vannah, and i was very happy to find a restaurant that serves you a wonderful lunch in a reasonable amount of time. excellent!

worth the trip!. as a visitor to savannah, you pick and choose your restaurant meals carefully. with only a few days in town, you plan in order to hit the places that are really special, where the locals eat on a regular basis, not just the "name" restaurants. when you're staying in the heart of the historic district, it takes some maneuvering to get to sweet potatoes. when we got here and found out the food network had been here, i was almost afraid i had chosen a "destination" by mistake. while i enjoy the food network, when they feature a restaurant sometimes it can spoil it. we were not disappointed in the least, however. the food was fantastic! just what we were expecting from the reviews--really good home cooking, reasonable prices, good portions. the cornmeal catfish was exceptional, my husband's gumbo was some of the best he's had, even beating new orleans versions. great flavoring with all the dishes without being overly salty. all the sides were delicious, just the biscuit was passable (slightly dry). we passed on the featured banana pudding but sweet potatoes is not to be missed if you're in savannah and want some good cooking without fuss.

good soul food. man i miss this place. i would often go with my mom for lunch but since i've moved to jacksonville i can't go as often. i would always get the same thing...blacked tilapia with mac n cheese. the pecan butter, however, is what makes the place unique. you have to ask for it (no extra charge). when it all comes out, before you do anything spread it on your warm biscuit first so it melts... but wait until after you are finished eating your meal to eat it because it is like dessert. omg it is heaven. i want to go back.
