alltimefavourite restaurant.. mouthwatering dishes with clean flavours. i have tried almost everything from the menu and never been disappointed. my favourite dishes are the dahi batata puri, panki chutney, sev puri, pav bhaji, falafel and bajri khichu.... there is usually a 15 minute waittimebut once you get a table, you’ll be done much earlier than you can imagine. sometimes it can get annoying because it feels like the waiters are hovering over your head and just want you to finish and make room for the next table... other than that very quick service and again delicious food.

swati has been our alltimefavourite. simple food loaded with flavour. we are a fan of the panki, and upon this visit discovered their bedai roti with shaak and lemongrass ice cream. the lemongrass ice cream felt like freshness in our mouth! besides food, the service is also really commendable and the servers are extremely friendly.

'let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food' and for men like me, food is an essential element for my life.

this was fifth visit to ahmedabad in as many months and i have only heard praises about the swati snacks and thistimei ensured i am able to indulge in food offerings from swati snacks.

the entire vibe in swati snacks is of euphoria, aesthetically pure, service fast and crowd a bit aristocratic. after gruelling three hours of meetings, we were exhausted, famished and raring to go and eat. luckily there wasn't a waitingtimewhen we approached the restaurant. on the onset, the menu is compact however all the dishes looks unique and we were not able to make which one to start with. our food trail involved the following:-

dal bhatti churma- three marwaris in gujarat trying to savour dal bhatti churma. this is a very large portion of dal bhatti is served with small ounce of churma accompanied by a very spicy garlic chutney and grated onions. the churma is fantastic, bhatti good however dal is a bit of dampener. it was a bit high on salt which couldn't mellowed by the sweet churma.

dhabeli - this dish was great to begin with. stuffed with smashed potatoes mixed with pomegranate seeds, spiced to good extent so it doesn't taste sweet. served with mint chutney, the taste is good and different from the varieties available in mumbai. there is no seasoning of sev and groundnuts yet this is beautiful dish.

baked khichdi - khichdi served with an international twist. the khichdi is baked like lasagne and have fried onions for cheese sprinkler and tastes phenomenal. how can a simple dish be transformed to something extraordinary.

samosa chat- we were biased solely towards samosa and any adulteration is met with critical eyes. the samosa is brilliant in taste while the concept of having dahi is fine till thetimeit is not entirely soaked. once soaked, the chat is not for the faint hearted.

swati snacks had been good and would love to visit the restaurant often.

swati snacks 3.5/5

swati snack was a strong recommendation from various blog posts suggesting the best places to relish food in ahmedabad. the place was quite neat and minimal with its decor. we kick started our lunch with an unusual choice of panki uttapam and the usual dahi batata puri. both of them were excellent. our next choice was the crowd favourite paneer lifafa which was quite good as well. we ended our meal on a satisfying note with gatta nu shak and satpudi roti. also, their cold coffee was simply amazing.

the place had a very good crowd. though it was empty when we entered, the place got filled up in notimewhich explains its popularity both amongst the local people as well as the tourists.

#latepost

new outlet far from city and ample space for sitting & parking too.

dal-dhokli:
jabardast🔥

pau-bhaji:
kickass 😍

satpadi roti and gatta nu shaak:
roti is 😍 gatta nu shaak is average.

thalipith with pitla:
that besan along with traditional thalipith is worth drooling.

paneer lifafa:
tried firsttimeand surprisingly it turn out to be healthy and loveable.

dhanshak bhaat:
no description required one of must try.

dal-bati with churma:
i find it above average taste-wise and they don’t provide ghee as an add-on. they charge it separately, not justified !

margherita pizza:
lovely 😍

sukhdi:
those 5 pieces are heaven but too pricy.

and that green chutney and those green chillies 😍.

this place never disappoints in terms of taste and value for money.

#gharjevupangharthialag😍 !

ahmedabad is booming with great restaurants and eateries opening everyday, making the city a food heaven for gastronomes like me! yet swati manages to top the game! it has to, has to be my favourite place in ahmedabad undoubtedly. being a foodie at heart and soul, this place is a sheer paradise for me! it has maintained its standards ever since thetimei remember visiting it (been almost 8 years now).

ambience :
it’s a nice, cool place, with a very simple, yet comfortable seating. it radiates a very homely and friendly vibe. brown benches and tables, with few yellow elements, and a metal framework ceiling, gives it a nice subtle look.

food :
oh my my!!! they serve such ambrosial delicacies. the taste of that, which i had before 3 weeks, still lingers on my taste buds. it was so divine!! the best thing i like about swati is, they serve traditional dishes with top notch taste. the food is flavourful, healthy, and also has a very homely taste and feel to it. it’s very rare to find such a combination at a restaurant. their menu is only two pages, but i promise, whatever you order, you won’t regret it! they still manage to offer a great variety and range of options. every dish is delightful and authentically prepared. so now, here’s what i had in my last visit-

• bedai roti : this was quite an interesting dish. i tried bedai roti for the first time, and i loved how it turned out to be. so it’s basically like a laccha paratha, the dough of which, is marinated in a masala with different types of spices, and the paratha is crumbled a little before serving. it’s served with aloo sukhi bhaji and shrikhand. the sukhi bhaji was yummy, typically north indian to taste. the shrikhand was freshly made, rich in saffron and on point in sugar. now, i found something missing, so i asked them if i could get some kadhi as an extra.i had to mention about this kadhi as it was one of its kind. what a unique preparation! it was rajasthani kadhi with sautéed onions. this was very piquant in taste. it was hard to pin point as to what i loved the most about this kadhi, but it was absolutely scrumptious!

• vada pav : utterly butterly delicious! loveeed how this one tasted and how it was prepared! the vada was super fresh, soft and scrumptious, and the vada pav had a special chutney on the inside. it was served with dry lasan (garlic) chutney powder. reminded me of the amazing mumbai vada pav. this was even better.

• masala dosa : i love south indian food and dosas are one of my alltimefavourites! this one was very appetizing! super crispy (exactly how i’d asked it), with a palatable aloo-onion masala and coconut chutney. the sambhar was perfect in consistency and on point in flavour! absolutely loved it!

• panki chatni : after such a longtimei had panki, and it was one of the best pankis i’ve had so far. super light, and the salt and thickness was perfect. it was served with green chutney and pickled green chillies!

• pav bhaji : i’m running short of words now! it was the best pav-bhaji i’ve had in a very long time! it reminded me of mumbai’s pav-bhaji. the bhaji was top notch in flavour, with very less amount of oil and the pav was heated very well. it was very sapid in taste!

• patra : soft and fresh patra, garnished with grated coconut and lemon. it was steamed and sautéed in oil with mustard seeds and sesame seeds.

• sabudana khichdi : classic upvas dish, sabudana khichdi is served at very few places. it was made with crushed peanuts. the spice level was mild and the salt on point, garnished with coriander.

• bafla : summers are here and so are summer drinks! special kacchi keri bafla, with a nice flavour of jeera, salt and sugar!

• coconut punch : yum! coconut water blended with the rich tender coconut, added with some chia seeds! this was super refreshing!

• sugarcane juice : swati’s sugarcane juice is one of the most famous in ahmedabad. it’s very hygienic and available all round the year!

service :
excellent service! i was extremely impressed by their hospitality and generosity. it’s very unusual to find a place where they’re not counting every extra bowl of sambhar or extra masala that you’re asking for. infact, the kadhi that i asked for, with the bedai roti (which wasn’t even a part of the dish), they didn’t charge me for that either. i’d had two bowls of it, yet i wasn’t charged a single penny. i was surprised! when i insisted my server to take the charge for that, he denied with a smile. the best part is- they serve with a smile. their servers are very polite and courteous. they’re warm and humble and are very prompt in their service. amazing service! 6/5 for the service!
