sushi kotobuki

i've ordered food from here from deliveroo a few times, the first time was nice, i even tried the waygu sushi, which was very good, i ordered from them a second time and got the unagidon, which was rather disappointing, the eel itself was just ok, not the mouth watering deliciousness i'd hoped for since i'm a huge fan of eel, and it was just served with very bland boiled rice, with no sauce, or anything. i got sushi from there again not too long after that, and honestly it was pretty bad, the same waygu sushi i'd ordered previously that was good, was now chewy and gristly and frankly quite disgusting, i have a feeling they'd substituted it with other beef to try and save money, i didn't think too much of the other unagi sushi that i tried that night either, and same with the salmon. honestly i don't know how they have suchgoodreviews, i'd recommend mokoji sushi if you're in the same delivery area, much nicer.

fantastic japanese food, very fast &goodservice. my first time here, ordered tempura udon and salmon avocado temaki. the udon taste really good, udon is well coooked, soup is awesome! their service is very fast despite there is many people. their price is also very reasonable. definitely worth dining and will come again!

this place is truly heavenly. this place is consistentlygoodand i’ve been a million times. it’s super reasonably priced and the sushi is the best.

the best sushi i've ever had anywhere.... as the title of my review suggests, sushi kotobuki is the best sushi restaurant i've ever had the pleasure of dining at. i would even go as far as saying it's my favourite restaurant in brisbane overall.

for what you get, the prices are great. i usually spend around $50 for 2 people, and leave with the beginnings of a food coma.

the atmosphere is completely unpretentious - it's nestled in a little set of takeaway food shops just near the shaftson hotel - but it's always busy (though usually not annoyingly so), and forgoodreason.

my recommendation to newcomers is to try each of the following dishes:

takoyaki
ruby roll
kotobuki roll

called to make booking in evening for same night. i have been told to walk in only. it ended up as a fairly busy restaurant with limited table. friendly staff is very helpful to secure a table for us.goodvalue.

🏞 haven’t been here for so long, taste and quality is the same. all the chairs and tables are the same too.

phuong tran and i visit kotobuki on a friend’s recommendation. we seat ourselves then place our lunch order at the counter. there is no table service so we help ourselves to water, extra plates and serviettes.

*mix sashimi ($13.50) is 4 pieces each of salmon and tuna. the salmon is fresh while the tuna is quite average. rating: 3

*spider roll ($14) has soft shell crab, crab extender (surimi), cucumber and tobiko. freshly made with a generous serving, this tasty roll is our favourite dish. rating: 4

*salmon lion king ($12) has salmon, avocado and cucumber, topped with nicely seared aburi salmon. rating: 3.5

*prawn tempura ($10) is served with 3 prawns and 3 vegetables. the tempura prawns are quite tasteless but the tempura vegetables are good. rating: 3

prices here are surprisingly cheap which makes kotobuki popular with the regulars. two dishes aregoodwhile our other two dishes are quite average. our overall rating for this meal is 3.5!

seriously good! best sushi in brisbane. the atmosphere and setting isn’t great but the food and prices make up for that. reallygoodquality fish

this place is so fabulous. it’s hidden away in a complex. it is cheap as chips and the service is very quick. the restaurant has basic presentation - steel chairs and whatnot. the sushi is phenomenal and they put a lot of effort in to the presentation of the food.goodfor a quick and easy sit down meal.

sogoodwe go back at least once a month - the sushi is excellent but the star of the hot food show has to be the udon noodle soup. i've never had one that's better than the one at kotobuki - so much umami!

really reallygoodsushi! i love this place. its not the fanciest eat in resturant... for me its all about take away and going to kangaroo point to eat it on the grass. service is great and the staff are lovely. i will be back many times.

this is agoodoption for japanese food in the inner city. the sushi and sashimi here is good, the staff are friendly, the portions aregoodand very reasonably priced.

best sushi in brisbane! i don't go anywhere else for sushi now. the lion king roll is my favourite, and the salmon bento box is delicious. reallygoodvalue.
