had an early dinner the three of us on a friday afternoon around 5pm, parked across the street ateasternmarket's lot and there was no wait! we had the meatballs with polenta and marinara and the baked mushrooms on ciabatta for appetizers along with the delicious pasta of the day with kale and squash. a nice cold glass of prosecco from the wines and spirits menu, the excellent white smokey pizza and a perfect custom red with anchovies and mushrooms-plenty of leftovers. ashley served us with a smile, the water bottles kept coming and there is a great bar in the back. casual, friendly, warm atmosphere and the best thin crust in the metro! everything is recommended and we are going back soon!

we strolled theeasternmarket saturday morning and then went tosupino’s for lunch. we shared a house salad which was nice and fresh and had 2 tasty dressings we used. we ordered an 18 inch pizza which certainly one of the best we have ever had. a nice crispy crust, just enough of all the toppings. we took 1/2 home for lunch on sunday. a fun place good for families.

located ineasternmarket, on russell st. is supino pizzeria. with a wide array of specialty pizzas and creative options including the supino (roasted garlic, black olives, chili oil, ricotta, mozzarella) and the bismarck aka “one egg” (fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, egg), supino’s is really setting the bar high for local pizza joints. my favorite is the white pizza selections (no sauce) because, frankly, sometimes you just don’t feel like sauce. see how they ranked.

supino pizzeria... detroit thin crust done right.. supino pizzeria is known to many as detroit’s best pizza. i am ashamed to say that i only recently visited supino’s. as many times as i have walked by there, i have always had other meal plans or the line was out the door and i was too impatient. i am disappointed that i have been missing out on that thin crust deliciousness all this time, but plan to make myself a regular anytime i am downtown detroit. supino’s has been recognized on many best of detroit lists, by guy fieri on food network’s diners, drive-ins and dives, and is truly a favorite of many real detroiters... need i say more?

supino’s has a simple, but creative menu. they have the option of a 12 or 18′′ pizza. you can also grab it by the slice; they offer cheese, pepperoni, or the specialty of the day for around less than $3. a 12′′ cheese or pepperoni pie is less than $10 while an 18′′ specialty pizza will run you around $17. the pizzas are categorized by red pizza (with sauce) and white pizza (without sauce); many tasty options under each category. you also have the option of building your own. they also offer pasta, salad... the mancini with homemade lemon-basil citronette was incredible, and cannolis for dessert. no booze here, just pop or water.

supino’s truly has the small, classic pizzeria feel. there are only about 5 tables in the whole place, a small counter to order at, and people everywhere. they seem like they are always busy, which is a good sign. the nice thing about supino’s is it is located ineasternmarket, so if you are insistent on sitting at a table and enjoying your meal, you can walk around and keep yourself busy while you wait to be seated. many people just pop in to grab a pizza or a slice on the go.

there are pizzerias that claim to make a great pie.   aware of the fact that the texture of a crust can make or break a pizza, i just like the rest of us have consumed a fair amount of this popular italian dish. i had no idea what i was missing until i tasted a pizza made by dave mancini owner of supinos pizza located in theeasternmarket region in detroit.   a lover of "thin crust" pizza, i was pleased to know that his establishment is known for exactly that.   this past thursday, i had the opportunity to try a supino's pizza made with swiss chard, tomatoes, and che'vre cheese. while taking the last bite, what instantly popped into my mind was the song written by tina turner several years ago titled, "simply the best."    the tomato’s topped off with the spinach and che’vre cheese made for one awesome combination.   of-course, the crust was terrific. after-all, mancini has worked at perfecting his signature pizza crust for years. interviewing him this past thursday on the cooks and books show, i asked dave his secret to a successful pizzeria business?   his response was persistence, determination, hard work, and of-course a variety of delicious pizza pies.   i totally agree with his concept.   detroit and the south east region of michigan, it's a must that you stop by supinos and try one of the delectable thin crust pizza pie selections. i guarantee you'll leave dave's spot one very satisfied customer.    normal 0 false false false en-us x-none x-none

supino’s pizza is legendary. it’s one of those places that everyone talks about, everyone loves, and took me forever to check off my “detroit dining bucket list”.     opened in 2008, supino’s swell-regarded for its use of fresh ingredients.  it’s  located across the street from detroit’seasternmarket , detroit’s spacious six-block public market. the restaurant takes advantage of this location and sources many of its ingredients from the stalls in the market, serving delicious pizza made from the best ingredients.     the owner, dave mancini, took a trip to supino, italy, his father’s hometown, and fell in love with the pizza. after refining his dough recipe, he decided to open a pizza shop , specializing in italian-style pizza.     supino’s  menu offers whole pizzas and slices. the restaurant is tiny, with one community table and three smallish tables for dining in. there’s space for sidewalk seating in the summertime, though i visited in the middle of a blizzard.     the restaurant’

supino pizzeria has been declared [by two australian's] as the best pizza in the world, even out doing what was eaten in naples. found in theeasternmarket, it is a gold mine of neapolitan pizza goodness. the perfect crispy crust on the bottom, but dough on top and they sell it by the slice. we feasted on one of the daily specials by the slice – ‘prosciutto & fennel’ – my mouth waters just thinking about it. i wish we had a bullet train to detroit from chicago because i would be on it right now after some more pizza.

maybe the best in michigan. okay this place is what michigan was lacking. a cross between neopolitan and ny style pizza. located in theeasternmarket. i ventured out there on a hot summer saturday that left me sweating my balls off in my car searching for a parking spot. needless to say my a/c wasn't working. anyway i finally got in and waited about 25min for one of the best pizzas i ever ate. the pizza is thin and elastic like ny style, but there toppings are rustic like neopolitan. this is the only place in michigan that knows how to make a good margherita pizza without traveling to ny or naples, italy. this place motivated me to open my own place one day. in michigan we may never get true neopolitan pizza, but maybe i'll b the first to do it. supino is ran in a casual atmosphere. you can see your pizza being made. the workers including the owner david mancini bust their ass. you can tell the pizza is made with heart. they offer some very unique gourmet combinations in both red(sauce) and white(no sauce) pizzas. the prices are fair too. mancini who is my new pizza idol has a double edge pizza academic like he just graduated in naples. he brings his own twist. otherwise the staff was cool and friendly. if you don't like crowds i recommend going during the week.

what pizza is supposed to be. this pizza is thin crust, crispy, hot, greasy and the slices are huge! everything here is scratch made and is downright delicious! when you visit supino you have to try the pizza but everything there taste great...even the salads! it's in theeasternmarket district of detroit, where there is a awesome farmers market & its a great atmosphere on sat afternoons or in the spring or summertime. try it when are in detroit and there are other really cool eateries all around that area. happy eats!

awesome first experience. my boyfriend and i went to supinos a couple weeks ago while checking out detroit'seasternmarket. though it was a little hectic and very crowded, that just shows how passionate people are for this pizza. i spent a month in italy a few years age and this is the only pizza i've found since that compares. nice crispy thin crust and loaded with fresh, quality flavors. we will definitely be back!
